A couple of weeks ago one of my stained glass designs was picked for the Dragonfly Design of the Month, May 2009. I don't consider myself an artist in the visual sense so I was kind of embarrassed by the attention and decided to keep it to myself. But I wanted to publicly thank Michael Wilk, president of Dragonfly, for the honor. So here it is. I know I probably wasn't the most cooperative candidate he's dealt with. I also wanted to give a plug to Michael's Glass Eye 2000 stained glass design software. Believe me, if it can make a graphically challenged person like me create a nice looking design, someone with real talent will be able to do amazing things with it. One more announcement. My oldest daughter on TV during her schools morning news show!First I want to start with my big Mommy moment. My oldest daughter is very bright. The reason that I moved her from private school to public school is that the public schools have more resources available to them to handle a child that is so bright. Yeah...I know we all think that our kids are brilliant but now I have some proof.The school that they attend does an Accelerated Reading Program which basically means that the books they read have grade and point values attached to them. They are tested on comprehension for all of the books that they finish and are given a point value up to about 6 points (I think). The average amount of points is 3 or 4.Well in the 4 weeks that my oldest daughter has been there she has accumulated a total of 62 points and has reach STAR Reader Certification after being certified in 5 other Reader groups. Two weeks ago the Anchorage Daily News sports section published a photo of a young angler holding a beautiful freshly caught Russian River rainbow trout. What none of the paper’s editors realized is that Russian rainbow trout are a “catch-and-release”- fish, and the man in the picture was holding the fish by its gills. Apparently that’s not the way to hold a fish you’re planning on releasing. Now there could be trouble for the man in the picture—if authorities can find out who he is. Foi ontem anunciada pela PT Multimédia a compra de três empresas de televisão por cabo detidas pelo empresário madeirense Joe Berardo. A Bragatel, Pluricanal Leiria e Pluricanal Santarém somam mais 164 mil casas cabladas à operação da TV Cabo num negócio avaliado em 65 milhões de euros que está ainda sujeito à aprovação da Autoridade da Concorrência. Em comunicado a empresa do Grupo PT adianta que adquiriu a totalidade do capital da Bragatel, a empresa a operar em Braga, mas apenas 92,06 por cento da Pluricanal Leiria e 98,75 por cento da Pluricanal Santarém. As participações eram detidas pela Metalgest de Joe Berardo. O montante a pagar pela PT Multimédia por estas participações está indexado ao EBITDA das sociedades no momento de fecho da transacção, sendo aplicado um múltiplo de 12x EBITDA, o que corresponde a 65 milhões de euros.
