Brain Age technology to help Toyota develop cars for the elderly
2007-12-19 05:14:00 Professor Ryuta Kawashima, developer of Nintendo's Brain Age video games, said that he's teaming up with Toyota to develop intelligent cars that will help seniors drive safely. "We envision future cars will be able to monitor brain and emotional activity to back up elderly drivers," he told the Associated Press Tuesday. Kawashima is reportedly discussing the development of an intelligent system that can determine driving patterns and curb any dangerous activity. For example, the system could slow the car down if it senses the driver pushing on the gas pedal for no reason. Other developments include a car navigation or temperature control system that can help the driver stay alert. "Ultimately, we hope to develop cars that stimulate brain activity, so that driving itself becomes a form of brain training," Kawashima said.
