2008-06-09 19:47:00 “Just get your face all intense like this and you’ll be able to take the pain.” Brandon Marshall has been running routes throughout the team’s various mini camps, but until recently he had yet to catch the football. The injury he sustained in March prevented him from using his right hand. On Friday, Marshall made a one-handed ...

Arguments for Drafting a Wide Receiver
2008-04-23 22:49:00 It’s amazing… two weeks ago, drafting a wide receiver in the first round was a “hot topic” among Broncos fans. I intentionally scheduled this discussion for near last for that reason. Needless to say, recent developments have rendered the conversation a little less engaging. But carry on I shall! There isn’t a flashier ...

Cutler?s Leadership Birth in a Nutshell
2008-04-18 16:03:00 For as long as I can remember Ralph Routon has been the lead sports editor here in Colorado Springs for the Gazette. Recently Ralph took an executive editor position for our other paper, the Independent or “CSIndy”. They are more of the anti establishment, anti-gazette paper. I was never particularly enamoured with Routon’s work at ...

Cutler Relying Too Heavily on Marshall?
2008-04-08 20:15:00 Football Outsiders has another good article up, this time on the AFC West as a whole. I found this nugget particularly interesting: Last season, Cutler threw 496 passes. Of those, 169 were directed at Marshall. Only T.J. Houshmandzadeh was targeted more often. Carson Palmer threw one more pass to Housh than Cutler threw to ...

Brandon Marshall: How Good is He Already?
2008-03-28 17:48:00 Warning: This article contains opinions. The Denver Broncos have NEVER had a wide receiver of Brandon Marshall's caliber. Sorry if that sounds ridiculous. Think about it. Take the emotion of Rod Smith's impending retirement out of this conversation, it doesn't belong here. Rod Smith is widely considered the top wide receiver in Denver's history. Rod Smith was a captain, a leader, and, in his prime, a top flight rout-runner and run blocker. He could find a way to get open. He could make something happen after the catch. But he was NEVER a threat to score every time he touched the ball, regardless of where he caught the ball. He was never one of the biggest and strongest players in the league at his position. He never flashed the speed or strength that Brandon Marshall regularly brandishes. Now if Brandon Marshall could just subscribe a little more to the Rod Smith School of Professionalism, I think we'd all feel more comfortable...

'Greek' Provides Injury Summary On Brandon Marshall
2008-03-25 22:45:00 Head Trainer Steve Antonopulos provided the following summary regarding the arm injury to WR Brandon Marshall -- Brandon Marshall sustained right forearm lacerations to one artery, one vein, one nerve, two tendons and three muscles. All have been repaired, and his right forearm and elbow will be immobilized for six weeks. Rehabilitation will begin in six weeks. Full recovery is expected to take 3-4 months. 3-4 months from today puts Marshall on track to be back right around the start of Training Camp. It can never be easy, can it. Needless to say, I am hoping the facilities Marshall will be rehabbing are clean. Just ask the Cleveland Browns what a nasty case of Staph can do....

Brandon Marshall Starting To Pile Up The Strikes
2007-10-23 06:16:00 Brandon Marshall is in the news again, and again it if for all the wrong reasons. Marshall is ultra talented, ultra out-spoken, and like I have said many times on MHR Radio is is also high risk. Marshall lives his life much like he plays football -- balls to the wall -- and for the third time that lifestyle has brought Marshall smack-dab into the middle of the wrong type of spotlight. Just hours after the Broncos solidified a season-saving win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Marshall was arrrested in Downtown Denver on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. According to the report, Marshall was booked, cited and released. For those keeping score at home this is the 3rd time Marshall has has a run-in with the law. Earlier in the off-season Marshall was involved in a dispute with a female acquaintance, reportedly not allowing the woman to leave his property. Marshall claimed the woman had his cell phone. And prior to that it was Marshall and his co...

Shanny Forces Brandon Marshall Back On The Field
2007-08-10 20:35:00 Brandon Marshall is finally back on the football field, with a little nudging from Mike Shanahan -- From Andrew Mason's BLOG -- Friday morning, Head Coach Mike Shanahan told the injured wide receiver that he would be donning the shoulder pads and going through the full morning's work. "He said it was just to challenge me, to see if I was mentally strong," Marshall said. "He knew that I was in pain, and that it hurt, but he also knows it's one of those things where you have to get out there, push yourself and be mentally tough. "I was shocked. I was scared. But I guess that's what it takes. Coach has 30 years of experienrce, and this is my second year, so of course I've just got to sit back and listen and go with the process." Marshall seemed to emerge none the worse for the wear, and even made a grab at Champ Bailey's expense during the final period of practice, while looking crisp as he ran his first pass routes since the second day of minicamp exactly one month ago.
