I have used it in soups, as a side dish and most recently like grits or oatmeal for breakfast. The great thing about quinoa is it huge nutrient boost. Its protein content is very high (12%?18%). Unlike wheat or rice (which are low in lysine), quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids for humans, making it an unusually complete food. It is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Oaktree Bakery and Cafe was on our list as a small, but excellent, pastry shop and bakery. We originally planned just to try one of their sweets but after realizing that they offer breakfast items as well, we stayed for the entire meal. I don't know about you but when I weighed out a serving of my favorite breakfast cereals for the first time, I almost cried. It was an eye opening experience to actually see what a serving size was! I mean a ½ a cup of cereal is really not that much and it's gone in a just a few bites. Plus is looks ridiculous in big bowls and really, you don't feel like you ate anything afterwards. That's why I started using the toddler's bowls. You'd be surprised but an one of those little bowls just fits an adult serving of most cereals. So every morning (well the mornings we aren't eating eggs) I pull out two toddler bowls and the toddler and I sit down for breakfast. It's fun, he gets a kick that I'm using one of his bowls and I don't feel deprived seeing my controlled portion in an oversized soup bowl. I just took pintfull of thos thing into my breakfast cooking. To enhance the flavor put powerder cinamon and local made black paper. The stir them into the hot oil. Mix with flour, hot dog sausage and two egg into crusty munchies. 20 minutes later ...Waaaa laaa!! magnifiQue!!! tasty breakfast fresh from the cooking pan. I called it.
