Rule Britannia once again!
2008-05-17 02:16:00
Here in Canada, the holiday that commemorates the longest-reigning British Monarch is upon us. Queen Victoria ruled for 63 years. Canadians typically, (at least where I'm from, here in Ontario) head north to the cottage and shoot off fireworks. Although never one for showy displays or loud bangs, I too am northward bound this weekend, not only to celebrate Victoria Day , but also to mark the occasion of my mother-in-law's 75th birthday on May 26th.I shall return on Monday and undoubtedly will be anxious to get back to my laptop and my fellow-bloggers. I will try and squeeze in some poetry-writing while I'm away (hiding in a cabin, trying to escape the fray). You see, I'm already at work!Have a great weekend, wherever you are!Happy Birthday Your Majesty!Kat
Britannia Mascot in Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors
2008-04-12 14:35:00
Even before you let your imaginations fly and let loose, let us tell you, Hari Puttar is definitely not the Hindi version of Harry Potter. Nor does the story have anything to do with Wizards and Wizardry.Hari Puttar - A Comedy Of Terrors, is a film about children and their adventures in London. The two animated characters of 'Hari Puttar' (the real character in the film is played by Zain Khan) and 'Funtoon' (Britannia's mascot). Tata Elxsi, the premium Animation and FX Company in India, has been engaged to create the two animated characters, Hari Puttar and Funtoon. These animated characters are to play the narrators in the film thus taking the storyline ahead. Just like in Kunal Kohli's Hum Tum.The other actors in the film are Sarika, Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla, and Vijay Raaz. Tata Elxsi have in past worked on some prestigious projects like Taare Zameen Par, Jodhaa Akbar, Dhoom 2, Rang De Basanti? and now for Hari Puttar- A Comedy of Terrors.

Tour Britannia organizers to be at the Race Retro Show
2008-02-23 00:00:00
Tour Britannia - September 2nd/4th, 2008 A FEAST FOR KINGS "A good start from Cambridge" normally means that the Light Blues are leading by Hammersmith Bridge, but on Monday, September 1st this phrase will take on a special meaning for competitors in the Tour Britannia 2008. The start venue of Cambridge will give them a truly excellent beginning to this international motor sport event with the now-traditional Welcome Dinner being held in the Hall at King's College. Created in the early part of the Nineteenth Century by William Wilkins, this magnificent Gothic structure can accommodate over three hundred seated diners and is the setting for the annual Founder's Feast in honour of the college's founder, King Henry VI. Following their own feasting, the competitors, especially those in the regularity section of the event, need to be prepared for an early start from Cambridge to reach Snetterton Circuit for the first tests and races of the Tour Britannia. There will be three "grids"...

Isnt it interesting (or hilarious) that young Brit folk upstart Jim Moray said in the third and final episode of Folk Brittania (on BBC) that you can do anything in folk as long as Martin Carthy approves, kind of takes you back to er, 1965 when a young Bob Dylan upset Pete Seeger at the Newport Festival by plugging in.Although it took Zimmy nearly a decade more to begin wearing makeup-Jim Moray is doing it already!
