Locksley - Don?t Make Me Wait
2008-10-04 17:18:00
Not musically innovative. Not sublimely unconventional. Just toe-tapping, head shaking, “throw your cares to the wind”, nostalgia-rock good times. Locksley’s debut, Don?t Make Me Wait, is 33 super-cool minutes of classic pop in the hands of hipster kitties (imagine the Strokes covering A Hard Day?s Night). Dancy, lyrical, and a tad too bouncy, it’s definitely ...
The Rise & Fall Of Creation Records: 1983-1999
2008-09-12 23:07:00
For a time in the mid ?90s, like their flagship band Oasis, Creation Records appeared to be unstoppable. As the marquee banner at the 1996 Knebworth shows had it, ?form is temporary, class is permanent?. Many people hold a special place in their hearts for Creation, and like Rough Trade, Postcard or Cherry Red, it ...
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement
2008-09-09 21:49:00
?Quite good.? It?s the most eloquent summation of the music of Alex Turner and his ubiquitous Arctic Monkeys as heard in the past three years? of slavering press about this latest in a long and increasingly tedious succession of Great New British Songwriters. Not the words of a stony-faced refusenik, either, but of Jarvis Cocker, ...
The Beep Seals - Things That Roar
2008-09-07 03:07:00
You’d never guess The Beep Seals were from Manchester. If you were picking which west side they’re from you’d probably think more LA than Levenshulme. They are a band with a seriously sunny disposition, and a mid-Atlantic sound to match, several hundred miles from Manchester’s famously slate-gray skies. Their debut album Things That Roar is ...

2008-08-15 22:54:00

Combining cello, double bass, guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, banjo, percussion and his own layered vocals, Steer successfully employs ...

Monday Morning 5:19 de Rialto
2007-10-24 00:10:00

The Verve
2007-09-10 02:14:00
The Verve (originally Verve) are an English alternative rock band formed in 1989 at Winstanley Sixth Form College, Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury. Simon Tong later became a member. The band split in April 1999 due to inner conflicts which led to McCabe's departure. They reunited in June 2007. The band has announced an album due at the end of the northern-hemisphere summer and a tour scheduled for November 2007.Beginning with a psychedelic sound indebted to space rock and shoegazer music, by the mid-1990s the band had released several EPs and two acclaimed records. They also endured name and lineup changes, breakups, health problems, drug abuse and various lawsuits. The band's commercial breakthrough was the album Urban Hymns and its single Bitter Sweet Symphony, which became a massive worldwide hit. Soon after this commercial peak, the band broke up ci...
