Broadband Internet Access
2008-02-07 23:34:00
Access to the internet is growing. Broadband and Wi-fi are the latest and fastest way of connecting to the internet available today. What is a broadband? What are its benefits? Broadband Internet access, often shortened to just "broadband", is high-speed Internet access—typically contrasted with dial-up access over a modem.BT Home Hub is a wireless router that connects your computer to your phone line providing wireless broadband around your home. It is designed to update automatically so that you can easily connect multiple devices such as PC, Laptop and gaming consoles. BT Home Hub is a free hub that allows you to get BT Vision too.If you are looking for a broadband supplier that offers free hubs, there are many advantages to this because you do not need to waste money buying your own hub or you do not need to waste money renting one. Save Money With Broadband Internet
2008-01-11 00:18:00
Broadband internet service has become a "must have" for those already enjoying the high speed internet connection. Still, many dial up internet users are reluctant to make the switch to broadband due to the increased cost in internet access, and fail to recognize broadband's money saving potential. In most cases, the benefits of high speed internet far outweigh the cost. Since there are so many types of broadband internet services in the market today, it is up to you to choose which cheap broadband package that will suit you best. Broadband internet users can save money by downloading their own music, games, and even movies instead of renting or purchasing them for a much higher price from a retail outlet. Of course dial up users can do this as well, but not in a very timely fashion since it could take up to a couple of hours just to download a simple song. The next time you are looking for somewhere to go or something to do with your broadband connection, try looking for ways to p...
Types of Broadband Internet Access
2008-01-09 15:00:00
I remember when I first connected to the Internet I used a 56Kbps modem over the phone line. Back then, that was considered fast as many users were using 14.4Kbps or 288Kbps modems. Since then, however, the Internet has evolved and so has the connection methods. In this post I explain broadband, and the various types of options available to a home user. This post will not touch on all options, but it will explain the types of connections currently common today. What is Broadband? The term "broadband" is a common term you here when discussing an Internet connection. Up until the last few years, most people used modems over a phone line that would download data at a rate of up to 56kbps. Back then the World Wide Web was made up of mainly static HTML pages and nothing more than that.Today, the Web has become more of a social and multimedia medium than just plain static HTML pages. This is one of the reasons people are switching to broadband or high-speed Internet connections. Broadband in...

Basically, applications can make this request to the operating system for QoS support using the QoS application programm...

Nearly half of US adults now have broadband Internet access at home
2007-07-06 16:26:00
Nearly half of US adults now have broadband Internet access at home, according to a February 2007 Pew Internet & American Life Project survey. Seven out of 10 home Internet users now have a high-speed connection, while 23% use dial-up.  There is still dail-up around. The number of US household with high-speed Internet access grew 12% from 2006 to 2007. That is down from the 40% increase from 2005 to 2006. John B. Horrigan of Pew said, "Moderate growth in home high-speed adoption from 2006 to 2007 is partly a reflection of strong prior-year growth; the low-hanging fruit was picked in 2005. Luring remaining hard-to-get adults to home broadband is likely to involve showing them the relevance of online content." Among adults in households with annual incomes between $30,000 and $50,000, home broadband adoption stood at 46% in early 2007, up from 43% in 2006. Home broadband adoption among those ages 65 and older was 15% in early 2007, up from 13% in 2006. Broadband connectio...
Broadband Internet in India

I'm posting this so that you know the state of broadband in India. The major internet providers in India are BSNL, MTNL, Airtel, Sify, Hathway and Tata. Out of these BSNL and MTNL belong to the government and work in different areas. MTNL provides internet and telephone services in major cities and BSNL does the same in the rest of the country. I will only be talking of unlimited plans. Plans with a download limit don't make any sense on broadband. Even a 1GB download, 2Mbps plan can get exhausted in just over an hour. In the US, broadband Internet maxing out
2007-02-20 17:50:02
A new report of Parks Associates suggested broadband residential subscriptions grew by more than 20% during 2006 in the US. There’s more than 50 million households connected to broadband, and the total amount should increase to 60 million, surpassing the 55% household connection point sometime during 2007. The report doesn’t give figures about the bandwidth available with those subscriptions. It also finds that, in recent years, service providers have been partnering more closely with equipment vendors to strengthen the linkages between digital lifestyle services and the end-user products.
