Indonesia: Hezbollah-owned TV begins broadcasts
2008-04-10 02:52:00 The Hezbollah-owned Lebanese television channel Al Manar has begun broadcasts in Indonesia, the country with the world?s largest Sunni Muslim population. The transmissions are broadcast via the Palapa C2 satellite owned by the Indonesia Telkom company, in which the Indonesian government holds a majority shareholding, BBC Monitoring reported. It quoted information published by Lyngsat Satellite website.Al Manar, Arabic for "The Beacon", has been broadcasting from Beirut since 1991. The self-proclaimed "Station of the Resistance" is a key player in what Hezbollah ? a Shia Muslim militia organisation - calls its "psychological warfare against the Zionist enemy?.It is also considered an integral part of Hezbollah's plan to spread its message to the entire Arab world.According to Al Manar's news director, Hassan Fadlallah, Al Manar does not aim to be neutral in its broadcasting."Neutrality like that of Al Jazeera is out of the question for us," Fadlallah said, quoted in a 2007 article i...

THE DOGS D'AMOUR - The BBC Broadcasts 88/89
2008-02-01 18:28:00 This post may well send some of you running to the hills, or running down from the hills, but hey whatever…it’s all rock’n’roll, and you don’t get much more rock’n’roll than this bunch of debauched bar room boozers, slightly less like Glam than Hanoi Rocks and less Stones/ Faces than The Quireboys, (should really do a post on ‘em, after all I did spend a year and a bit roadieing for ‘em) any way back to those Luv Dogs, they had a bit of a Iggy Pop punk edge to ‘em as well plus a greater lyrical depth to ‘em, and then there was lead singer Tylas artwork that adorned their record covers and flyers. Saw ‘em loads of times in London around 1986 -88 at places like 100 Club, Marquee, Fulham Greyhound, Ad-Lib, but not where these BBC Radio One recordings were from, both large seated venues Hammersmith Odeon and Dominion Theatre, not my idea of rock’n’roll, but getting yerself banned from LBC Radio for saying that you wanted to fuck Princess Diana and beat up Jas...
Part 2: Media Broadcasts PEOPLE'S PARADE At Rose Parade New Years Day
2008-01-03 10:59:00 by Linda Milazzo In my article on New Years Eve, the night before the Pasadena Rose Parade and our White Rose Coalition's (WRC) unauthorized PEOPLE'S PARADE FOR DEMOCRACY, I questioned whether media would step up patriotically to broadcast our message to IMPEACH Bush & Cheney and END THE WAR. We were well aware that media would already be present in huge numbers, since it capitalizes handsomely on Rose Parade revenues every year. But we also knew, through previous disapointments, the difficulty in getting corporate press to broadcast negative public sentiment toward Bush, Cheney, and War. With our Democracy in decline, an immoral war raging on, criminals and cowards controlling our government, and H.R. 1955 and S. 1959 threatening our First Amendment freedoms, our White Rose Coalition believed it had a duty to begin 2008 with the clarion call to Americans that this is the year to RISE UP. After weeks of strategizing under the inspired and frenetic leadership of Los Ange...

NHL broadcasts leave much to be desired
2007-11-30 20:01:00 Pierre McGuire had one of those moments during the Canucks-Ducks game Tuesday night that makes you wonder what, exactly, you need to get a job in broadcasting these days.During one of those cheesy break-in-the-action moments where a talking head sticks a microphone in the face of a sweaty, stinky player right on the ice during a TV timeout, McGuire used his wisdom to ask Ryan Getzlaf of the Ducks something along the lines of, "You've got an eight-game point streak going. Do you want to get it to nine?"In a Hall of Fame performance, Getzlaf kept a straight face the entire time. Here's how I wish he had responded:"No, Pierre, eight is my lucky number, you idiot. Plus, I like Roberto Luongo. Let's just end this little streak tonight, shall we? I've had a good run."These days, no one draws the ire of the common hockey fan more than Pierre McGuire. His tendency to drop names ad nauseum and obvious favoritism towards the Ottawa Senators have led to endless pot shots...

TH*NK*NG (BROADCASTS)
2007-09-02 02:05:00 by Fred Cederholm Ive been thinking about broadcasts. Actually Ive been thinking Venezuela, global contacts, the CIA Fact Book demographics, energy imports for June 2007, PR/ politics, and Hugo Chavez. Our neighbor across the Gulf of Mexico/ Caribbean presently plays a major role in the ongoing world energy drama. This is particularly true for US/us. Yet, just what do we know (or understand) aboutVenezuela? You see last Friday I was once again a phone-in guest of host John Sanchez on Vheadlines Venezuela News Hour radio program broadcast from New York, and available at the Vheadline.com website as a MP3 file. Vheadline features my weekly column TH*NK*NG on-line and has done so almost since I began writing it four years ago. I am hardly an expert/ specialist on Venezuela, but this nation-state-neighbor to the South so often figures into my columns on banking, finance, energy, and global politics. I do my homework and feel comfortable about what I share with readers (and listene...

2007-08-22 21:00:00 Hi Mike, fully with you - if a notebook is needed anyways (and it is reliable enough), one device less is better and i would suggest the same. However, we have seen quite some customers trying to NOT use a notebook, just a push button and a microphone input (or a similar simple setup) - then the router serves really well and the whole thing is very low power, envionmentally unproblematic (can be shaked on a troop transporter while doing the remote) and reliable. Greetings ! I've always wanted a software Instreamer (and VLC has a steep learning curve in the streaming end) and maybe Barix could setup a emulator to run the firmware directly on a PC (it's something I would pay for!). But this way, you one less piece of equipment to deal with (on a remote is always good). Re: [exstreamer] Remote Broadcasts with instreamer
2007-08-22 00:16:00 Hi, yes, that should work "out of the box". You could also use a standard "wireless broadband router" from a company like multitech if you want to ditch the PC. I haven't touched a PC since about 2 years now (happy mac convert ;), but i remember that if you set your laptop for internet connection sharing, it is running a DHCP server on the LAN interface, using IP addresses 192.168.0.x - so you would not need to do anything special, just configure your Instreamer to stream to the Exstreamer's IP/port as if the Instreamer would be connected to a standard DSL router with DHCP server (leave the IP/Gateway/Netmask all 0.0.0.0). Greetings ! Johannes I am wanting to know if it is possible to set an instreamer to run through a laptop with Internet Connection Sharing and push audio to a static IP with port forwarding to an exstreamer. If so, how do I need to set it up? We are looking at doing remote broadcasts with wireless broadband and sending audio ...

County May Kill Emergency Broadcasts Due to Partisan Content
2007-06-14 05:48:00 Here is the dumb part: By Scott Wyman South Florida Sun-Sentinel June 13, 2007, 1:19 PM EDT Rush Limbaugh has long been a thorn in the side of liberals, but now, because of him, some Democratic politicians don't even want to join with a local radio station to broadcast hurricane information.Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to Limbaugh's talk show.and here is the funny part: Limbaugh responded to the commissioners Wednesday on his radio show. He said the county's qualms about WIOD are a sign of out-of-control partisanship in the nation.Thank you so much Mr.Obvious.

Thankfully that time has long since passed allowing designers of computer peripherals to engage us with inspiring, eye ctaching designs such as this DMR-U200 USB DMB 1GB Receiver. That’s the word out of today’s conference call with UFC president Dana White. Earlier today, I mentioned that the two sides had finally inked a deal after months of stalled negotiations. The UFC, which currently broadcasts its events primarily on pay-per-view and Spike TV, began talks with HBO earlier this year. The new deal would apparently put a few UFC shows on HBO beginning this summer. However, as part of the deal, HBO would be in charge of the production and would use HBO broadcasters....
