Google Turns Your Browser Into A Graphing Calculator
2011-12-09 07:09:00
The web is full of possibilities. It can do everything  from powering communications to social causes. And now it can plot graphs for you right from your browser and Google has now made it possible to plot functions in a graphical format right there in your browser. Google has built this functionality directly into its search engine. All you math geeks and students can rejoice! You don’t have to hunt for a advanced calculator app or start Matlab when you quickly want to plot a function. This is what happens when you type sin x, cos xinto the Chrome browser. The graph can be fully manipulated and also supports a zoom function. These little features are very handy and Google is slowly making changes to its engine in such a way that people using Chrome OS can take advantage of it. We earlier talked about how Google is building a whole ecosystem around the Chromebooks. Very interesting to see where it goes. P.S: This was seen doing the rounds of Facebook today. 2011-12-03 03:59:00
Browser Wars Heat Ups As Chrome Grabs 25%: Firefox Sulking?
2011-12-02 10:49:00
Google’s Chrome browser development team has a reason to celebrate. It has just surpassed Firefox becoming number two in the battle to overtake Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which is still the world’s most popular browser. Recently aggregated statistics from Net Applications indicate that Chrome is steadily gaining acceptance & surpassing even Firefox. According to StatCounter’s research arm, StatCounter Global Stats, Chrome had 25.69 percent of the global browser market in November, whereas Firefox was slightly behind with 25.23 percent share. Launched in 2008, Chrome had just 4.66% share same time in 2009. It has certainly grown in leaps & bounds. The battle is not between Firefox & Chrome though feels Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter, who says, “We can look forward to a fascinating battle between Microsoft and Google as the pace of growth of Chrome suggests that it will become a real rival to Internet Explorer globally.” He further confirms that ...

Browser Comodo Dragon Terbaru, Browser Teringan dan Tercepat!!
2011-11-18 11:53:00

Google Chrome Eating Up Other Browser Shares In India
2011-09-08 13:30:00
Google’s flagship browser has been eating up the browser shares of the other prominent browsers in India according to a survey conducted by StatCounter. The browser has been very popular since its launch due to its emphasis on speed and ease of use, areas which other browsers, especially Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox have been struggling with. The survey shows that Mozilla Firefox is the most used browser in the country at 32.97 %. Google Chrome follows at 31.75 %.  The most interesting aspect of the chart is that Internet Explorer has been suffering a sudden nosedive in adoption. Till last month it was the most widely used browser in the country but both Firefox and Chrome have contributed in bringing the giant down and now it stands at the third position. Chrome may be second now but it is worth  considering the fact that its initial market share was just 10 %. Other browsers are showing concern over the mercurial rise of Google’s browser. This sudden jump can be a...

2011-08-03 14:58:00
The browsers war is nowhere near its end. Instead, it is getting fiercer with each passing day as “Internetkeeps adding more netizens to it”. And the top three players in this field, Microsoft, Mozilla and Google are fighting it out hard, day in day out, to be at the top most slot. In India where there are about 100 million active internet users, Internet Explorer (IE) has long been a favorite web browser. Due to reasons quite obvious, IE monopolized the browser world until Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and the likes entered the field. But things have changed significantly over time. Today Firefox seems to be gobbling up a major share of the global browser market. With 28.04% of the total share, it is the second most popular web browser in the world, whereas IE has 42.42%. The scenario is quite interesting in India as well. A data from StatCounter reveals that Firefox is on the verge of becoming the top browser in the country. While IE has a market share of 33.6%, Firefox is a...

Christmas Shopping For Your Browser At The Chrome Web Store?
2010-12-01 13:15:00
Google has been teasing us with the Chrome Web Store for some time now. Launch dates have come and gone, but Web Store is out of sight. The scenario might change in the days ahead. A subtle change has been spotted on the Chromium or Chrome’s new tab page — The multi-colored hexagon has been replaced with a shopping bag with Chrome’s hues. I came across this new logo on the Chromium builds of Linux, but could not spot it on Chrome yet. This is not the only reason which makes me say that the Chrome Web store might come through this month. The other reason being, the number of increased activity in the Chromium Issues list. Most of these issues were surrounding the “ReleaseBlock” labelled items relating to the Web Store and Chrome Apps. This increased activity and a changed logo are enough to say, something is coming. (Image Credit) But, that isn’t all. There are other tweaks as well: A Chrome Apps promo which will be shown in the browser is almost complet...

RockMelt – A Cloud-Based, Social-Focused Web Browser

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari (may) have a new rival. Yes, you read it right. Marc Andreessen, the creator and founder of Netscape, backed web browser named RockMelt is up on stage now. It is not just another browser, but a cloud-based and social-focused web browser. The browser is built on Chromium, the platform on which Google Chrome is based, and uses Facebook authentication to sync with the browsing environment of the user. In short, it is a cock-tail of Social Media and Open Source, mixed in equal quantities. The browser has been released in limited beta edition and as such it has an invite only download option. I happened to get an invitation. And here is a brief review of this browser. Look wise, it is very similar to Google Chrome with Facebook and Twitter attached on each of the sides. These sidebars are called Edges. The one on the left is called Friend Edge and it shows your friends on Facebook, who are online. And the one on the right side is called App E...

TWotW: Browser Pong

It's one of the simplest games to program, which is why you often see it as one of the first outputs of any programming environment. There have been Javascript versions of Pong done before, in a web browser (like this one), but until now I've never seen one done with the browser. Open up Browser Pong, hit Play, and suddenly you're in control of a small browser-shaped paddle, making it go up and down along the side of your monitor as you try to smack a smaller browser-shaped puck. You can either have the program control the other paddle, or play against an opponent. It silly, and more a proof of concept than anything, but still a nice bit of...

We can think your web browser to be like the wheels on our vehicle. We don't consider them daily in our thought, but without them we can’t go anywhere. You surely notice them if things go wrong. The browser is already installed on Windows OS but many people use Windows; but most Windows users don't want to have a second thought about the browser. It’s a fact that lots of people are unaware about the options available. Many options are available and are called alternative browsers. One of them, called as Firefox is slowly declining the dominance of Internet Explorer. It is actually a derivative of the popular Netscape browser. There is a very good increase in the mass of devoted users of Firefox. It has gained much popularity due to the mouth publicity by its users. Many people felt that Microsoft's Internet Explorer will be prominent and rule the browser market for ever. Even though its opponents incorporated AOL Browser and Netscape Navigator, Microsoft's Internet Explore...

2009-07-30 07:56:00
(By Anand Srinivasan) In a report released by Opera software, India has been ranked among the top three in terms of internet access from mobile browsers. India ranks behind Russia and Indonesia. China and Ukraine make up the top five list. United States ranks sixth overall. The report is based on the usage statistics obtained from Opera’s ‘mini’ browser for the month of June 2009. Among the key highlights of the report are the staggering 357.8% growth rate year-on-year for the month of June 2009. The unique users have grown by 32.5% since June 2008. Indian users seem to browse much more on the move compared to their counterparts in USA and UK as shown by the average monthly page views of 375 per user. The corresponding numbers for USA and UK are 223 and 221 respectively. Google properties (Google, Orkut and Gmail) continue to grab the top three most popular sites on the mobile web. One month after its inclusion for the first time in the top 10 list, Facebook has m...

Why Browser Is The Future Of Computing?
2009-07-20 08:12:00
Apple made the news recently by hitting 1.5 billion downloads at it’s app store. Quick to catch on, Google at the recent MobileBeat 2009 Conference said that App stores weren’t really the future. Sour grapes? Not quite. Google has long since focused on the importance of the web. From promoting Android to its latest venture, Chrome OS, Google seems to quite believe in what it preaches. More so, with changing technology, from Wireless to 3G, access to the internet is no longer restricted to a phone line. No wonder that people estimate almost all of the Internet will soon be access via mobile. We recently wrote about Cloud Computing. Not needing a huge hard-drive, or inbuilt software seems to go with the concept of Mobile Internet. Mobiles don’t really have t...

News: browser wars continues!
2009-07-06 20:56:00
Even with the lack luster release of Microsofts IE8, the browser war is not over. IE is still losing market share and IE8's take up has been less than expected. In addition, IE still fails to render some older web sites and, in my experince, is having trouble with some web 2.0 based web sites. In terms of performance, Apple now claim that Safari has the fastest JavaScript engine. However my tests... This is a content summary only. Visit Truth In Shredding to find out more!

Opera Unite Review: The Reinvention Of Web - Your Own Server In A Browser
2009-06-17 05:42:00
Some odd four months ago, still in college, I was looking for some cheap yet dedicated web hosting solutions for my photoblog. Cheap; yet dedicated? Sounds like a dream world right. But apparently it was possible. Some techie friends of mine came to the rescue, and the solution is so stupidly simple that it never entered my head. Here’s how it can work: You have a connection that lets you download and upload stuff to internet. So instead of just browsing, you can use your own computer to host content / websites directly from your own computer, making it the server. Presto! You have your own locally hosted web site. Sounds really simple no, so why isn’t everyone doing this? Why pay for hosting solutions? Not everyone knows how to. Lack of bandwidth is a major obstacle because most popular websites need a lot of bandwidth which not every home connection can handle. You will need a powerful computer to handle data requests from your visitors. And also protect your back end data f...
