Bulls winning ugly but can they keep it up?
2009-11-06 13:04:00 It's not pretty. It's not efficient offensively, it's not high scoring basketball. However, the Bulls stand at 3-2, and so far, everything we saw in preseason has been true in the regular season as well. The Bulls offense is putrid, unwatchable, scary bad while their defense has been eye poppingly good....
Bulls beat Cavs by 1; Amazingly LeBron does not get the call
2009-11-06 04:50:00 On the final possession LeBron drove, drew minimal contact by diving into someone and just fumbled the ball out of bounds. He didn't get the call, and the Bulls go on to win. Complain if you want Cavs fans, but on the previous possession it looked like Deng hit the rim and the Bulls got the board which would have ended the game. A few possessions earlier, Shaq blocked Gibson by tackling him and didn't get called for a foul. The refs clearly swallowed the whistle, and they swallowed it for LeBron....

Chicago Bulls @ Cleveland Cavaliers 7:00 PM, TNT
2009-11-05 22:00:00 LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal and the Cleveland Cavaliers got off to a slow start, dropping their first two games this season. But the team have picked it up since, having rolled off three straight, on an average of 13.3 points a game. The Bulls come off a shaky performance against Milwaukee which concluded with a two-point win for the Bulls due to the strong play of forward Luol Deng who recorded 24 points and a career-high 20 rebounds....

Bulls beat Bucks when they probably shouldn't have done
2009-11-04 04:48:00 Tyrus Thomas didn't play tonight, but given how bipolar the Bulls were, you might not have known it. They beat the Bucks by the truly underwhelming score of 83-81, in a low standard game that a neutral would have phoned up to complain about. It wasn't pretty, but it was enough. The first half of tonight's game was an absolute shocker for the Bulls. They scored only 29 points, trailed by as much as 18, and threw the ball away like a sulking pre-teen. They had 7 turnovers in their first 16 possessions, were boasting 22% shooting with 4 minutes left in the first half, and looked about as natural as a donkey in a trilby. The second half started...

Bulls beat Milwaukee 83-81 in defense-fest.
2009-11-04 04:27:00 This game was a tale of two quarters really. The first quarter where the Bulls offense was absolutely atrocious, and the 3rd quarter where the Bulls took a huge chunk of Milwaukee's lead away from them. All in all, this game was an excellent representation about my fears with the Bulls. The offense is just going to be rough while the defense can be excellent. From the end of the 1st quarter through the 3/4ths of the way through the fourth quarter the Bulls defense was absolutely dominant not allowing anything and contesting everything. However, over that time, the Bulls still struggled considerably for a large portion because the offense was so bad. The Bulls held the Bucks to...
Chicago Bulls vs Milwaukee Bucks 7:00 PM, CSN
2009-11-03 21:48:00 The Bulls will be back at the United Center after an 0-2 road trip, and will look to redeem themselves against the Michael Redd-less Milwaukee Bucks.Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is shooting 37% from the floor over the three-game stretch in the early part of the season. Last year's Rookie Of the Year has been noticeably limited by lack of training and a sore ankle. Tonight, Rose and the Bulls take on their NBA neighbors from Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Bucks. Rookie point guard Brandon Jennings has exploded to the scene over his first two games, and will be a tough assignment for the Bulls' backcourt....
The Bulls will fight an uphill battle on offense all season long
2009-11-03 12:57:00 This augments yesterday's thoughts about three point shooting, because as I considered it, I realized this team is really behind the eight ball to deliver a consistently good offensive performance....

Heat beat Bulls 95 to 87
2009-11-02 02:30:00 Well my prediction on my podcast was off by two points, but not too bad. This game illustrated one of the points I made on the show, and we've discussed before. The Bulls have no three point shooting....

Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat 5:00 PM CSN
2009-11-01 13:46:00 The Chicago Bulls come off a 28-point loss to the Boston Celtics on friday. The Bulls struggled defensively, letting Boston score 97 points in the final three quarters, while connecting on 58.1 percent from on the floor for the game. Once again, Joakim Noah was the bright spot for the Bulls. The third-year center connected on seven of 10 shots, and completed his second double-double in as many games. Noah leads the team in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and is third in assists....
Bulls won't give Tyrus an extension
2009-10-31 11:00:00 As expected, it's now official: the Bulls won't give Tyrus Thomas an extension, and will let him become a free agent next summer. Per Adrian Wojnarowski: With no more contract extension talks planned with the Chicago Bulls, forward Tyrus Thomas will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, Yahoo! Sports has confirmed. Bulls general manager Gar Forman and Thomas' agent, Brian Elfus, had discussed broad parameters of a contract extension in recent months, but both sides said there won't be any more talks prior to the Monday deadline. (more at the link) The article states that Tyrus will become a restricted free agent in the summer, and Tyrus himself has said that he'll have his qualifying...
Bulls lose, or something
2009-10-31 06:54:00 The Bulls didn't play last night. Simply didn't happen. No. Nope. Non. Nein. Some people may tell you that they were blown out by the Celtics, losing by roughly 98 points in a lifeless (inter)national TV debacle. Those people are lying. The Bulls didn't play. Instead, they had the night off. Brad Miller led the bench unit on a night fishing trip to Lewiston, Idaho, where Taj Gibson was extremely happy to catch a 6oz perch, and Lindsey Hunter sat around dispensing sage wisdom about things that happened during the mid 50's. The starters, meanwhile, all went out for a light supper together, then went tapdancing together, and then went home to bed. (Not together.) That's all they did. No...

Bulls @ Celtics 7pm CST on ESPN
2009-10-30 18:39:00 The pressure to win this game, at least from fans, is greatly diminished after winning the home opener against San Antonio. I can't imagine a Bulls fan being unhappy with a split among those two games. However, the pressure in the locker room is still on due to the revenge factor. The Celtics mauled the Bulls at time, and I'd bet Tim Donaghy's got a better explanation than the league on why Rondo wasn't suspended....
Bulls totally beat the Spurs
2009-10-30 03:54:00 The Bulls just beat the Spurs. Did you know that was going to happen? I didn't know that was going to happen. But it did. And they looked damn good doing it. The Bulls won 92-85, shooting only 41% from the field, but grabbing 52 rebounds in the game, and holding the Spurs to only 42%. They played a highly effective defensive game, and were good enough on offense, if not spectacular. Most importantly, they beat a team far better than they are. Here's the report card....

Bulls end preseason with another win
2009-10-24 04:52:00 The Bulls beat the Wizards tonight 93-70, closing out their preseason with a 6-2 record. One of the losses was to Orlando, who have been an absolute machine this preseason (8-0, with a huge 37 point win tonight over the Hawks, 123-86), but even with those two losses, the Bulls the third best preseason record in the NBA. The only two better ones belong to last year's finalists, the Magic and the Lakers. That can't be bad. Of course, tonight didn't really count. They weren't playing anybody. The Wizards completely forgot to turn up; as the final score will have alluded to, they were really, really, really, really, really bad. The Bulls weren't great, despite what the big margin of...
Bulls vs Wizards comment thread
2009-10-24 02:01:00 As noted in the post below, the Bulls are short handed. Not much to be said for this game, the primary thing to watch out for is James Johnson as he should get plenty of playing time. Taj Gibson, Tyrus Thomas, and Joakim Noah will also be worth a look of course, but we've seen a lot more of them so far....
Are the Bulls bringing Sexy back tonight?
2009-10-23 13:01:00 The biggest question in tonight's preseason game against the Washington Wizards is not who wins or loses. It's not any particular matchup. It's whether Derrick Rose, "What's Sexy Now" Nominee, plays in the game....
Not a good week for former Bulls
2009-10-23 07:06:00 My two favourite days in the NBA calendar; draft night and media day. Draft night is incomparably excellent. In one short five hour period - all of which is televised - the entire NBA landscape can change for years to come. There's transactions galore, discussion aplenty, bad jokes all over the place, and multiple opportunities to judge people on their clothing choices and interview techniques, while simultaneously actually learning something about the new players. Media day offers hot two pronged action; not only do we get to laugh at photos of players palming basketballs and scowling, but we're also introduced to the training camp signings, a delicious annual ritual that shows us fans what's on the minds of NBA executives....
Notes from Bulls loss to Orlando
2009-10-20 12:53:00 I have mixed feelings about the Bulls loss to Orlando. Sure, Orlando played it's starters more down the stretch, but the Bulls played theirs more overall. The outcome of a preseason game never particularly matters to me, and there's no shame in dropping one to Orlando at any point of the year....
Blackhawks Stealing All The Buzz From Bulls
2009-10-19 23:30:00 There are two teams that call the United Center home. Both are at the start of a long 82-game season. Both have lost their leading scorer from last year (Ben Gordon and Martin Havlat) to a rival (the Pistons and the Wild). Both have stars who recently earned a Rookie of the Year win or nomination (Derrick Rose, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg). Both teams were ousted from last year's playoffs by their league's defending champion and both are widely considered just a few steps away from being their league's next champion. The two teams that share the United Center have a remarkable amount in common. So why is one team getting all the buzz?...
Bulls vs Magic 7pm CST on CSN
2009-10-19 13:02:00 I've returned from my brother's wedding in PA, and for some reason, missing four days of relatively little news has still left me feeling quite a bit out of the loop. So the Bulls have two more preseason games left, and Derrick Rose will miss at least one of the two. ...
Bulls beat Timberwolves, 94-90
2009-10-17 05:11:00 This.....wasn't the highest standard game ever. The Bulls beat the Timberwolves for the second time in a week, and advanced to a tidy 5-1 record in the preseason. That's the good news. The bad news is that they weren't very good tonight. Then again, the Timberwolves were worse. Here's the report card....
Bulls @ Timberwolves 7pm CST on CSN
2009-10-14 22:16:00 Bulls going up against the Timberwolves gives us a chance to watch one of my favorite pre-draft players, Johnny Flynn. It's kind of a shame that Rose has missed so much time in preseason, because it would have been fun to watch him go against Jennings twice and Flynn once....

Bulls @ Bucks: 7:30 CST on WGN
2009-10-10 14:28:00 The Bucks aren't a particularly interesting team to me. Seeing how Brandon Jennings does vs Derrick Rose would have been exciting, except that Rose is going to miss the game. Still, there are some interesting things to watch for in any preseason game....
How I Lost My Virginity - The Bulls/Jazz Story
2009-10-09 19:17:00 Many times in my life, I have been posed the question, "so how did you get into basketball?" The question is a valid one, because it's usually asked by somebody who understands the status of basketball in Great Britain and England, probably because I've ranted about it to them. I talk about it a lot, and I've written about in on here as well. The short version of it is this; basketball has no status here. (By the way, the answer to the initial question; on a wet Saturday afternoon back in 1999, my 15-year-old self was channel hopping, and stumbled upon the half hour weekly NBA magazine show that existed back then. The presenter was a lovely lady...
Tailgate: Psst...Wanna Buy A T-Shirt?; The Bulls and John Bull
2009-10-06 17:54:00 OK, this is the LAST we'll mention the 2016 Olympics: Some people are still upset about Chicago's unceremonious ejection from the voting, but you can still show your team spirit because Chicago 2016 apparel is still on sale. Yeah, really. If you're reading this on Tuesday afternoon, you're not watching the Bulls who are taking on the Utah Jazz in London. It's the first time John Bull has had a chance to the the Bulls live. After every Bears victory comes the inevitable: the injury report. But a bye week fits in very nicely. Let's wrap up this dismal Chicago baseball season once and for all: USA Today tries to tell us what went wrong on both sides of...
NBA refs locked out, what will it mean to the Bulls?
2009-09-18 17:03:00 Per ESPN:NBA referees expected a lockout to be "imminent" after negotiations Wednesday between their union and the league failed to produce a new collective agreement. After rejecting the league's latest offer by a vote of 57-0 at their meeting in Chicago on Wednesday night, the union and league exchanged further counterproposals Thursday, with the union claiming to have made $1 million in additional financial concessions....
Chicago 2016 Olympics w/ Chicago Bulls' Luol Deng
2009-09-08 23:40:00 As you saw w/ urlacher yesterday, of all the celebrity interviews hyping chicago and our olympic bid being posted here once a day until the official 2016 olympic host announcement in Copenhagen on Oct 2nd, this week I am posting interviews with all my favorite athletes! Today I thought I would put my man luol deng up from the chicago bulls to share an overseas "visitor" perspective as the international olympic committee needs to find a host city that is full of diversity always embracing visitors from cultures all over the world... and no one is better than us in that category for sure!I also thought i'd address some questions I got last night from some friends on twitter about what the benefits would be to our...
Hoopsworld: Amare trade desination (Bulls 3rd)
2009-09-04 21:08:00 Hoopsworld broke down some places Amare could be shipped off to. The Bulls came in as 3rd on the list with the following proposal.Chicago Bulls send Tyrus Thomas ($4.7 million for 2009-2010), John Salmons (two years and $11.2 million left on current contract), and Jerome James ($6.6 million expiring contract), -- To Phoenix in exchange for Amar'e Stoudemire, Jared Dudley, and a 2010 second-round pick...
2000-01 Bulls, 3rd worst team of the decade
2009-09-04 03:51:00 Top 10 worst teams of the decade: Remember, the summer of 2000 was supposed to be it. Actually, scratch that, Chicago had big designs on the summer of 1999, if we're honest. And, if we're to be completely accurate, the summer of 1998 was supposed to see all sorts of free agents flock to Chicago to eat up the team's cap space. The summer of 1998 didn't happen, for anyone. GM Jerry Krause saw the writing on the wall when most FAs signed with their old teams for more money in the truncated post-lockout offseason, and after talking up the 1999 offseason, he decided to make a few more cap-clearing moves and parlay that money (and two lottery picks) to...
2009-2010 Chicago Bulls: Worst case scenario
2009-09-03 12:48:00 I always find it best to get the bad news out of the way first. Thus, I'll present the best case scenario tomorrow. These scenarios are meant to reflect the low end of reasonable expectations. Clearly a plane crash or career ending injuries is the real worst case scenario, but there's no reason to reasonably expect it, so I won't be covering it. So what's the worst that can happen?...
Bulls to sign Carlos Arroyo?
2009-08-29 20:37:00 ESPN.com: Carlos Arroyo wants to return to the NBA, and the Bulls are one of the teams he's talking to. Carlos Arroyo is ready to return to the NBA. However, the Puerto Rican guard, who last played in the NBA with the Orlando Magic, won't reveal the names of the teams that are allegedly having talks with his agent -- not until the FIBA Americas Championship in San Juan concludes. ................ On Saturday, El Nuevo Dia, a newspaper out of Puerto Rico, reported that Arroyo was close to signing a deal with the Chicago Bulls. According to the report, the agreement would be for one season and $1 million. The report at the link also names the Celtics and...
Top 5 favorite and most hated post dynasty Bulls

Bulls preseason schedule released
2009-08-26 13:00:00 In news that possibly only interests me, the Bulls have released their preseason schedule. Why it doesn't come out with the normal schedule initially is beyond me, but once again the Bulls will be hitting up season ticket holders for four full priced preseason games....

Top five Bulls Jerseys for the die hard fan
2009-08-25 13:34:00 Looking through my closet today, I found some old jersey's collecting dust. Hanging in my closet are a Tyson Chandler, Kirk Hinrich, and Jamal Crawford jerseys as well as an autographed Marcus Fizer shooting shirt. Recently removed was a Ben Gordon jersey I gave away this summer. This made me reflect on what the perfect jersey to buy the ultimate Bulls fan is. ...
Bulls best post-dynasty year? 2004 or 2008
2009-08-20 12:53:00 I was attempting to come up with a top 10 list of the best moments for a Bulls fan post Jordan, and what I found was that virtually every moment on my list came from either the 2004/5 season or the 2008/9 season. This prompted me to consider the similarities of the seasons as well as whch one was more enjoyable....
