BUNCO At My House!
2008-06-07 08:00:00
Bunco ... at.my.house! to.mor.row night! TOMORROW NIGHT! Eeeekkkk!!!!! My house is a mess! I have not completed buying the prizes yet. It's panic time!!!And so I e-mailed my bunco mates:My house is a mess right now but it will be presentable by Saturday night. As much as I'd love to show off my house, no house tour. I'm keeping our master bedroom closed because that's where I'm going to stuff all these clutter. Maybe I should put a sign saying "Enter at your own risk" on the master bedroom door. And so many of my sweet bunco mates are offering help. The problem is I feel like I need to clean up for them to come help me clean up if you know what I mean. Now, as for what my hubby would say, "if you start cleaning instead of blogging, the house will be clean". Hmp! Doesn't he know blogging is the fuel that keeps me going!? ;)OK. Ok, I'll clean! I'm logging off now... I am!
Working Mother (Bits and Pieces - Oh, Just Venting)
2008-05-05 10:34:00
This is going to be my first "vent post" on being a working mom since I cut back on my working hours (work outside our home). I was so thankful that I was able to reduce my hours from 36 hrs a week to 25 hrs a week that I actually did not talk a lot about being a working mom since then. (OK, I vented once but took it off line after a day.. just because...)But tonight ... I am feeling the "stress". I feel a bit frazzled. There are 3 important projects/tasks at work that I am handling and they are all urgent. Since I work less hours now, I have less hours to accomplish these at work and I guess it piled up. I was planning to go to work this weekend to catch up but I didn't. There were just too much going on.My son G had his Taekwondo testing last Saturday, so we were at the Dojang for 4 hours watching him being tested. He did get his "red belt" Congratulations G!Then at night I had bunco. My friend Karene hosted this months Bunco and she did an excellent job! Next month I'...
The bunco night that wasn't
2008-03-10 23:42:00
So my friends and I want to start a monthly bunco group. We have a lot of people interested, unfortunately finding a day when we can all get together is proving difficult.Last Friday I hosted our first gathering. We need at least 12 people. We had 10 people confirmed, however only 8 people showed. We can play with a couple of ghost players, but 4 is just too many. So no bunco for us.Still it was a lot of fun. A group of friends together sharing wine and great conversation, what is better then that? It is always nice to relax and laugh with friends. It seems like the older my kids get, the busier I become. I think I forget to exhale sometimes. So nights like this allows me that luxury. As for bunco.. we are hoping for a better showing in April! :o)

Bunco Babes
2008-03-04 23:52:00
Have you played bunco before? It seems to be the latest crave among us stay-at-home moms. It is a dice game and you need 12 people to play it. It is easy and it is fun. Best of all it is a chance to get out of he house, relax and socialize with your friends and neighbors. My girlfriend and I have been talking forever about starting our own group. It is one thing to talk about it and to actually do something. I finally took the step and sent out an evite to our group of friends. The response has been more then positive. We are having our first bunco night this Friday at my house. It will rotate monthly after. So really, if you look at it, you only have to host it once a year.It should be a lot of fun. Wine, food, and friends? what more could you ask. Oh yeah! There will also be dice, a bell and a small stuffed animal that gets thrown around the room too. Laughs are guaranteed! I?ll let you know how it goes

March Bunco and Lea Salonga on Maui
2008-02-13 11:05:00
I got an e-mail from Lisa, one of my Buncomates who is hosting the March bunco. Looks like it's gonna be a "St. Patrick's Day" theme because she told us to bring "something green" for the $3 gift that each of us brings to put into a basket as a price for the "last bunco". Our next bunco night will be on March 1st. I'm glad it's on March 1st because on March 7th, Lea Salonga will have a concert here on Maui and I want to go. I'm holding off on buying the ticket for a couple of days for "a reason I'd rather not share". But if that "reason I'd rather not share" would not create a conflict in schedule, I definitely would go to Lea's concert. Wow - I can actually be her pretend BFF, take a photo of me and her together, and blog about us :). Yeah...maybe I should contact her manager and see if I can interview her at the backstage before the show so I can feature her on my blog ....right:)....Oh well... it's 12:15 in the morning (which is kind of, night). I should be asleep...

I May Not Be Able To Go To Las Vegas In March, At Least I Won The Last Bunc
2008-02-07 08:57:00
I was hoping to go to Las Vegas in March for the Bunco Championship on March 7 to 9, but it looks like its not happening. That's too bad because I really really wanted to go. Aside from my desire to play bunco at Ceasar's, for a chance to win the $50,000 prize (imagine, I can quite my job and be a full time stay at home mom for a year), I wanted to go to Las Vegas because it's close to where my brother and sister in law lives. They told me that if I go to Las Vegas, they will drive there so we can see each other! I'm bummed that I am missing that opportunity. It's too bad that I am not going because this Bunco Championship Event sponsored by Prisolec looks like so much fun. About 2,000 crazy fun-loving women will be there, screaming BUNCO! Prilosec's marketing team is a genius for targeting "us" mostly the middle aged fun loving group of women, to promote their product for heart burns. I had been visiting their website out of curiosity and the event planned sounds fantast...
Thank You Southern Belles!
2008-01-27 16:38:00
To everyone who responded to my plea for help - thank you very much. I WON!!!!! I was the "Southern Belle" of the night, y'all! I won the best costume! As you can see on the photos, I wore pink. One commenter suggested to watch "Steel Magnolias" to get more ideas about being a Southern Belle and so I did. I was reminded of my love for all shades of pink when I watched it, and so a "pink" outfit I got! Of course I followed a lot of the advice. I had a hat (I couldn't find a parasol); I had matching white gloves up to the elbow; I even had a pink feather fan. I brought a bottle of wine as a gift to the hostess; I had matching pearl necklace and earrings; I had bright red nail polish on my toe nails in my white high heel sandals; had a bright red lipstick (I actually put make up on, which is a rare occasion for me nowadays), and I wore my best smile the whole night. Not all the bunco participants dressed up (too bad); but some did including my two best friends. And the hostess? We...
Works Of God Weekend
2008-01-27 16:11:00
This week has been a roller coaster ride. Many ups and downs. Needless to say, I I felt safe enough to vent some on this blog, like what I did on my previous post.Last night I came home from Bunco, lighthearted. I am thankful that I did. I think I am beginning to be more comfortable with the "whole" group, and not just two of my best friends in there. There's a whole story to my participation in this bunco, and that calls for s separate post. But for now, I am happy that last night I came home happy and not sad. This post will be my entry to A Dusty Frame's "Works Of God Weekend" carnival so I'd just randomly type some of these works of God for me that I can think of.Last Friday we had our friends, the Sowers, for a visit. In this previous post I shared the story of our friendship, and their move to the mainland, and how we were sad they moved. Well, they were here for a visit and we're stoked! Both Naruto Boy (G) and surfer girl (N) are so happy to play with Colton and M...
Bunco Championship 2008
2008-01-20 08:46:00
I just took a peak at the official webpage of the bunco championship at Prilosec, to find out how the registration for the 2008 Bunco Championship in Las Vegas is doing. As expected, it's a big hit. 134 pages of registrants - 15 each page - that makes 2,010 registrants! Unfortunately, I did not see anyone registered from Hawaii. I think a fairyblogmother should grant my wish to attend and join this bunco championship. Who knows, I may be the next Brad Falcon. But instead of Deal or No Deal, I'd shout BUNCO!
Calling All Southern Belles and Southern Mamas, I Need Your Help to Transfo
2008-01-06 15:33:00
Remember this post when I said I was thinking of trading schedule with a Buncomate to do the BUNCO this January. I did not. I guess I still have the time to decided whether to take the March schedule and bring them all to the BUNCO CHAMPIONSHIP in Las Vegas - ha!Anyhoo - Internet Belles, I need your help. I need to transform into a Southern Belle for this month's Bunco. Here's the e-mail I got from this month's host:"Hey Ladies....hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Year's!!! Some of you know I spent November back in South Carolina and I picked up some of my ole' southern habits while I was home. I have decided this bunko month is going to be southern style...so, break out your "Southern Living" magazines and dress like you wanna make your mama proud...you may just take home a best dressed prize! Hope to see "ya'll!"Did yo read that? There's a prize! And I want to win the prize! But you see, I grew up in Asia, and I am now a local girl here on the tropical Island of ...
Bunco... in Las Vegas?!
2007-12-28 07:03:00
During last month's Bunco night, Garnett was asking around who would want to swap schedule with her. She's scheduled to host in January but she felt like she might need some more time to prepare. I guess it's because the 4 previous bunco nights we had have been all fabulous, the hostess did so well, that there seems to be a "pressure" to come up with some creative ideas on bunco hosting. My schedule to host is not until June. I thought maybe I should just swap so I can host and be done with it (at least for 12 months). And so I started googling bunco to get ideas. Oh yes, I google everything - who doesn't?Guess what I found out? There is actually an official association for Bunco called World Bunco Association. And there's also this huge event on Bunco called the Bunco Championship to be held in Vegas! Las Vegas? You've got to be kidding me! - but no I'm not. There really is a Bunco championship to be held in Las Vegas! The big event is being sponsored by Prilosec. This is...

Bunco - Halloween Edition
2007-10-14 17:45:00
On my other bunco post I shared with you how fun it was and how I am glad I'm part of this bunco group. If you would like to know more about this bunco, please visit that post here. This month our theme was Halloween. The host requested that we come in costumes. I had many ideas, but I settled into a very simple pretense of being a "Miss Saigon". I came in an authentic traditional blouse from Saigon. I placed a make-up that made my eyes a little bit chinky and had bright red lip color and viola - I went. What was I thinking? I should have known better. This group is a fun group and I should have been more creative. Many came with such fun and creative costumes...I think it's better to do a slide show than me trying to describe what they are. Unfortunately, I didn't have any photo of me because I was the one taking pictures using my camera. I asked a friend of mine to e-mail a photo of me that she took but I don't know when that would come. In the meantime, enjoy this slide...
BUNCO... I won!
2007-09-02 17:21:00
Last night I had fun. I went to a BUNCO hosted by our good friend KK. Actually, I joined their group and committed myself to a once a month bunco fun night. Honestly, I was a little bit hesitant joining because I was afraid of the time commitment. But after last night (the first bunco night) I knew I made the right decision to join. We had a blast! And to top it all - I won! I got the most bunco award! The prize is a $30 Ross Gift Certificate (yey, I will go shopping tomorrow!). I also got the most wins but since I already got the prize for most bunco, CS got the prize for the most wins. She got Starbucks and Jamba Juice certificates. What is BUNCO? You can find a detailed explanation here on Tricia's Bunco Rules and also a quick overview here on WikipediaThere are several bunco groups going on in our church.... a great way for women to fellowship with one another. I know some traditional churches would raise an eyebrow because this seems to be "gambling", but really, it's ju...
