Be Careful of Buzz Aldrin
2009-08-29 04:23:00
Be careful when a U.S. astronaut gives you a moon rock. It may be just petrified wood or it may contain the H1N1 (Swine Flu). In what would seem an isolated case, former Dutch Prime Minister Willem Drees received a piece of petrified wood instead of a moon rock from Buzz Aldrin. Then some 45 ...

Buzz Aldrin's Radical Plan For NASA
2009-06-26 16:44:00
From Slashdot: Apollo 11 astronaut (and MIT Astronautics Sc.D.) Buzz Aldrin suggests a bolder plan for NASA (while still remaining within its budget), which he will present to the White House's Augustine Commission; he sees NASA heading down the wrong path with a "rehash of what we
Buzz Aldrin: Mars Pioneers Should Remain Permanently On Mars
2008-10-27 02:33:00
A trip to Mars could take years and cost billions of dollars. If NASA and the European Space Agency are going to commit to such an ambitious endeavor, they should try to get the most out of their investment. That's why, according to astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the first Mars pioneers should stay there permanently.

(Return to Part 1)BOB ANDELMAN: Were you surprised at how poor the film quality was from Apollo 11 compared to what there was later? I mean, it?s not like better equipment wasn?t available by 1969.DAVID SINGTON: The TV footage is very poor quality, but some of the film footage is fine. Our shots of Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon are not the ones that we are used to seeing, which is the TV downlink which is very, very fuzzy, but it?s a shot on film from inside the LEM, and you can see the reflection of Buzz Aldrin, the reflection in the window of Neil Armstrong taking that first step, so there is some pretty decent 16mm film footage, but there isn?t very much of it. There is a very small quantity. It?s interesting how the TV footage, though, improves between Apollo 11 and Apollo 17. By the time you get to Apollo 17, the color pictures coming back from the moon are getting reasonable quality, though they?re never as good as the actual film footage shot on the moon, which we sort ...

Buzz Aldrin plays BrainBall at Wired's NextFest
2007-09-16 17:36:00
NextFest (http://wirednextfest.com/infor-m/event_overview.php) is Wired Magazine's (http://www.wired.com) four-day festival of innovative products and technologies. We blogged about MindBall last year, which is the commercialized version of Brainball. BrainBall is a game created by Interactive Institute. Players of the game have EEG sensors connected to their forehead with a strap. The electrodes in the strap read the players' brainwaves. Brainball is a game that goes against the conventional competitive concept, and also reinvents the relationship between man and machine. Instead of activity and adrenalin, it is passivity and calmness that mark the truly successful Brainball player. Brainball is unique amongst machines since it is not controlled by the player's rational and strategic thoughts and decisions. On the contrary, the participants are dependent on the body's own intuitive reactions to the game machine. At first glance, Brainball seems similar to a tradi...

Others on the Moon
2007-04-22 19:23:00
Is there an "Alien Base" on the Moon? More and more people are coming forward with stories that might prove this is true. Rumors say that there is an Alien Moon Base on the far side of the moon, the side we never see from Earth. Did you ever wonder why the Moon landings stopped and why we have not tried to build a Moon Base? It does seem like a better and easier idea than a floating space station with no access to any raw materials or supplies? According to the NASA Astronaut Neil Armstrong the aliens have a base on the Moon and told us in no uncertain terms to get off and stay off the Moon! Sound far fetched? Milton Cooper, a Naval Intelligence Officer tells us that not only does the Alien Moon Base exist but the U.S. Naval Intelligence Community refers to the Alien Moon Base as "Luna," that there is a huge mining operation going on there, and that is where the aliens keep their huge mother ships while the trips to Earth are made in smaller "flying saucers". LUNA: The Alien ba...
