Thanks for nothing, Cajun Crap
2008-04-25 00:02:00 EPIC FAIL Well, the streak is over. Who knows what would have happened had Thesuckiot not dropped the ball and the Cubs turned two. Maybe they still would have lost, but that play definitely gave Colorado momentum. At least new episodes of Lost and The Office are on tonight to ease the pain. And the Cubs now head to Washington, where the Nationals currently hold the majors' worst record. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.
Cajun Dance Party - The Race
2008-04-22 19:31:00 It would be somewhat of an understatement to say that The Kooks are often derided for their lack of spark, but this bunch of teenage upstarts could easily pass as stand-ins in the event of ill health, as telling the two vocalists apart is akin to discerning Roses from Quality Street. After the intriguing simplicity ...

:: CAJUN SALMON WITH ASIAN GREENS
2008-04-02 14:04:00 Is it me or has it been a little quiet around here recently? I think I've only just gotten back into the swing of cooking again after my little break. Sofie and I finally made the journey up to IKEA in Belfast over the weekend to get all those essential apartment items after nearly a year. We have been threatening to make the trip, since it opened in December, but it just kept getting put off- but we did it in style and spent a whopping eight hours in the store as if to make up for it! I know that's a bit mad but we did like 4 sweeps of the place and missed out on very little. I love the kitchen stuff in IKEA, and my favourite thing we got on our shopping trip was this cool little kitchen trolley thing which doubles up as both a storage unit and a work top! I particularly like this because now I can perform a mini cookery show when we have guests over! :) (Pictures coming soon!)On to the food! I cooked this dish over the weekend as a bit of an experiment and thankfully no pl...

2008-03-06 10:30:00 This is a lovely healthy light recipe, the salad recipe was another one I tried from a zaar member for the swap I am doing, the fish is mine. I will post a link to the salad recipe underneath it, so you can go and see the wonderful photos that the chef, of this recipe took, they are gorgeous. Cajun Prawn Skewers with Creamy Avocado Sauce
2008-03-03 10:55:00 I made this the other night, as hubby was not well and I just wanted something quick and easy that tasted good and was light. This was all of that and I really enjoyed my meal, as I made this for one I have adjusted the ingredients so it would be fine for two. The avocado cream will be too much, but this will keep in the fridge for a few days, this can't be helped as you need to use a whole avocado so along with the other ingredients you end up with just over a cup.I really liked the sauce and thought all the ingredients went well together, I made with stated ingredients and so had left overs and just used it up over the following days. I have listed ingredients so it will serve 2 people, 2 skewers each, 5 prawns to a skewer, so do adjust if you want to make more.Ingredients20 Large uncooked prawns2 Tablespoons Cajun seasoning (more or less depending on how spicy you like it.)2 Teaspoons ground cumin1 Teaspoon dried oregano2 Cloves garlic, crushed50ml olive oilCreamy Avocado Sauce1...

Cajun Blackened Salmon with Pureed Peas and Door Stop Fries
2007-12-03 10:40:00 Here is a quick, easy recipe that tastes great. You can make Cajun spice by grinding your own herbs and spices, but why fuss when you can buy already blended Cajun spice, that tastes great, I use Schwartz brand and prefer this one to others I have tried.Ingredients olive oil4 Salmon Fillets (about 150g each fillet)4 Teaspoons Cajun spice (I allow for a teaspoon for each, but add more or less depending on desired spice level, I always use more than a teaspoon on mine. I love Cajun spice.)1 x 500g Frozen peas100g Buttersalt and pepper to taste (If using salted butter you won't need extra salt.)Potatoes (As many chips as you want... I looovvee big fat chips.)Method1. Peel and cut potatoes into very fat chips, heat some oil in a large frying pan and fry chips until cooked and crisp, turning constantly, to brown on all sides. Alternatively fry in a chip fryer if you have one.2. Coat salmon with Cajun seasoning, heat a small amount of oil in a pan, place salmon skin side down and fry f...

Monday Spice Collection (Part 3) - Cajun Spice Mix
2007-09-10 06:20:00 After all that wonderful response I got from you guys on my previous herb and spice mixture entries, I am just more and more motivated to keep on writing this series (too bad I didnt give my sister a couple of more mixes as her wedding present)...So here we go, after Herb De Provence and a simple but roasted Curry Powder, it is my pleasure to bring in something with a bit of a spice-kick. Even though my sister is not really keen on heat on her plate (I know, dont ask me why, but yes, we are sisters :), I decided to add a little bit of what I like to her spice collection. After all, she can only use a little bit at the time... Cajun cuisine originates from the French-speaking Acadian or "Cajun" immigrants "deported" by the English from Acadia in Canada to the USA. It is what could be called a rustic cuisine — locally available ingredients predominate, and preparation is simple. The aromatic vegetables bell pepper, onion, and celery are called by some chefs the holy trinity of Cajun ...
