The weekend was an eventful weekend filled with fun, networking, and even some craziness. In this short summary, I will summarize the highlights, the key events, and of course you can't bring Latinos from around the world in one place without the drama, so we will touch on that as well. Day 1Our first day was simply work and lots of play at night. Once we touched down and checked into the Hotel Clinton in Miami, some of our clients in Miami phoned us to work on some project related work so Myk Jones and I spent about 3 hours working. The Day of Calle Ocho
2008-03-16 13:54:00 Well its 8:30 am in the morning and we went to sleep at 3am, so we are all undergoing some major sleep deprivation. The Latin Urban Mixx yesterday was off the hook. We streamed a live video broadcast, and interviewed every major player in the game. Some of the industry heavy weights included DJ Camillo, Jesse Terrero (Video Director for 50 Cent's videos), Leila Sanchez (Billboard), DJ Laz (Power 106 FM in Cali), Mun2 (Mun Dos), and several more. 2008-03-16 03:40:00 "Calle 187" is really heating up but not how you might expect. The low-level events that i have attended all have ended in shoot-outs. I almost caught one in the buttocks but my guide Jose deflected the bullet with his super gelled mullet. The footage that i have filmed have all been confiscated by the police to use as evidence. I am now in Lil Haiti where i have been robbed, kicked and hit with a shitty baby pamper. Can somebody please call Rick Ross to negotiate a peace treaty in this hood. An American city should not be held hostage by thugs the way the MIddle East, Africa,Haiti,etc. do. Anyway Jose is going is taking me to an illegal dog fighting ring. 2008-03-15 13:16:00 As you know i'm in Miami for the supposedly coverage of the happenings of "Calle 8". Due to my low funds i was forced to shack up in a rat infested motel. It's the type of motel that fugitives stay in. Anyway, when i first arrived i thought they pulled out the red carpet for me but was embarassed to find out it was a old bloody tampon. That's how short i am. I'm actually in "Calle 187" with my guide Jose who is a mexican trying to pass himself off as a Cuban because he has no papers. Jose took me to what i thought was going to be Fat Joe performing "Crack house" at a house party. It turns out that he took me to an actual crack house where there never seems to be any furniture. I have actually bumped into Amy Winehouse and she's in a corner somewhere. Tomorrow Jose will take me to Lil Haiti, a place so hostile that not even suicide bombers would go there. Life behind the scenes of "Calle 8".
2008-03-12 15:48:00 I'm currently blogging on my lap-top from a shady motel that E.Gradio has put me in. I'm not saying it's slummy but i ordered room service and actual roaches brought it up. The window is room temperature. Other guests include the Miami Homicide Squad who are investigating a murder and some dudes who might be running drugs from the room next door. While other E.G members are staying at Posh suites in a fancy hotel attending major events i'm stuck on Calle 187. I've have met some cool people like a guy named Jose. He's a mexican trying to pass himself off as a Cuban because he has no papers. He doesn't speak good english though he did take me to what he said was a cockfighting event. It wasn't what i thought it was, it was actually a gay latino club and i freaked because i actually brought a rooster. Sadly to say he sprung loose and clawed Joses small taco.
