SHF Mmm... Canada - Nanaimo Bars
2008-06-24 10:31:00
Jennifer the Domestic Goddess asks: How sweet is Canada? for this month's edition of Sugar High Friday. Our last vacation before parentship we spent in Canada. We saw our first black bear picking wild berries in one of Albertas beautiful National Parks, obviously a sweet tooth. And we came into touch with Nanaimo Bars, not in the City of Nanaimo but anywhere on Vancouver Island. It was love on first taste. Nanaimo Bars Canada is sweet as Nanaimo Bars, the taste of these brought back pleasant memories from vacationing in Canada. The easiest thing was using the European style culturated butter, but no graham wafers in Germany. I think the lady fingers were a proper substitute. -=========REZKONV-Recipe - RezkonvSuite v1.4Title: Nanaimo BarsCategories: CanadaYield: 24 Bars Ingredients H BOTTOM LAYER115grams Unsalted butter (European style cultured)1/4cup Sugar25grams Co-coa1  Egg beaten, 50 grams105cups Graham wafer crumbs*1/2cup Finely chopped almonds90grams Coconut, desi...

SUPERNATURAL Fans: Blame Canada!
2008-06-23 14:30:00
Proving once again that violence is never the answer, SUPERNATURAL showrunner Eric Kripke surprised fans today by revealing a far easier way for the Winchester Bros. to save the world from Evil Demons. Buy them a one way ticket to Canada! Turns out that this TV Addict’s very own home base of Canada, or more specifically our surging Dollar is to blame for Ruby’s untimely demise. “She’s [actress Katie Cassidy] great, but this was unfortunately a financial decision — purely budgetary, because creatively she was terrific.” Revealed Eric Kripke in an interview today with TV Guide, “I have nothing but great affection for Katie, and she was great for the show. It was a very difficult business decision about the realities we are in. Though the budget’s the same as last year, the show films in Canada and is suffering from a lousy exchange rate.” And while I applaud Kripke for his honesty. Nobody, especially this self-proclaimed TV Addict likes to be remi...

Game Thread- Cubs @ Blue Jays- 6:07 P.M. CT/ 7:07 P.M. ET- O, Canada!
2008-06-13 16:30:00
Good day. Tonight, our beloved Cubs cross two thresholds: the rigid line separating the American League from the National League, and the USA-Canada Border.  So put on your plaid shirt, get some maple syrup, and take off to the Great White North. It's a beauty-way to go! For those of you who are not familiar with Canadian history, customs, and culture, here is a short primer on things that Canadians have contributed to the world: 1.  The Red Green Show The Red Green Show is one of the greatest comedic achievements of mankind.  Cabin-dweller Red Green and his Pointdexter-y nephew Harold hang out at Possum Lodge while sharing Northwoods wisdom and advice that I have tried to live my life by. If the women don't find you handsome, they can at least find you handy Of all of the Red Green segments, two stick out in my mind.  First, Handyman Corner, where Red takes the men aside and helps them complete manly projects, most of which involve the Handyman's Secret We...
Canada deploying cardboard cops to nab speeders
2008-06-10 07:28:00
Police in westernmost Canada are deploying life-size cardboard replicas of traffic cops pointing a radar gun at oncoming traffic to try to reduce speeding and road fatalities, authorities said. And these mock-ups are so realistic that while being tested on a Vancouver street this week, “a tow-truck driver pulled up and started talking to it,” Staff Sergeant Ralph Pauw told a press conference on Thursday. Eight of the cut-outs will initially be deployed on city streets, Pauw said. And in case some drivers aren’t fooled by the facsimiles, “there may or may not be a (real) police officer behind one of these cut-outs,” he added.

Thanks Armando! O's Win Two In A Row in Canada...
2008-06-07 22:21:00
Thanks for the Present, Armando! Well, after a wretched series with the Boston Red Sox, the Orioles have won 3 out of their last 5; thus, continued the winning last night in Toronto, 6-5. The offense continued its hot streak thanks to a big inning in the eighth. Adam Jones and Melvin Mora each hit a two-run home in the frame, and Kevin Millar belted a solo homer. As well, Nick Markakis went 4- for-4 with a double, run batted in and a run scored while Brian Roberts had two hits and scored a run. Dennis Sarfate (3-1) only needed two pitches to earn the win in relief of Brian Burres, who allowed three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. George Sherrill worked the ninth for his 21st save. Shaun Marcum?s nice start went out the window as he held the Orioles to one run on seven hits in seven-plus frames; however, Brian Tallet and Armando Benitez ? ah, that good old friend of ours who contributed many memorable moments in Oriole folklore ? allowed the game to get out of hand! Thanks again...

Canada From an F1 Car Point of View
2008-06-03 17:26:00
It’s off to the Canadian Grand Prix and the only stop in North America. It is also my stop on the circuit and I will be leaving for the grand prix weekend on Thursday morning. From Friday to Sunday, I will write and post photos on the goings on at the track. My chosen seats for this race are right in front of the pits under cover in case of rain. Since my wife is coming with me and if it rains, wet is not her style. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a temporary circuit with a combination of street and track racing. As you see by the track pic, it has long fast straights always leading to heavy breaking where great traction and great acceleration are so important. You can get more about the track in the Canadian Grand Prix Page Aerodynamics Not much downforce required at this circuit so a low downforce setup is the package of the day. With a top speed of over 320 km/hr drag is a drivers nightmare, but at the same time, some downforce is required to keep the car just stable eno...
