You need to know the song inside and out. Not having to concentrate on lyrics lets you focus on the music style. Alex Roy, 35, who waited a year to boast about his exploits and remains vague about the exact dates in a bid to avoid any prosecution, said he had blistered across 13 states in 31 hours and 4 minutes, breaking the old record by more than an hour. Car enthusiast and rally driver Roy travelled the 4,496 kilometers (2,794 miles) from New York on the East Coast to Santa Monica, California, on the West Coast at an average 145 kilometers (95 miles) an hour.

Duo Claims to Have Broken 1979 Cannonball NYC To LA Run
2007-05-16 10:28:00 Bearded Bullrun impresario Richard Rawlings and co-pilot Dennis Collins claim to have broken the famous 1979 Cannonball Run time from New York City to Los Angeles of 32 hours and 51 minutes. According to a release, the two bet rival Jay Riecke they could beat the time in their 2007 Bullrun entry, a black Ferrari 550 (pictured below the jump), modified with extra fuel cells. The final time is a claimed 31 hours and 59 minutes, which has yet to be independently verified. Rawlings and Collins are now on their way down to Key West where they hope to beat the rest of the Bullrun rally down to the finish.
