Time Capsule - Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes (PSX)

This port shouldn't have existed at all.___________________________-_______________________________-__TOTAL SCORE: 5.7/10_________________________-_______________________________-____Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes ranks up there as one of my most favorite arcade games of all time. I remember making quite a number of trips to the arcades every week just so I could play this game (didn?t have any console then). The superb animations, the frantic action and the ingenious tag-team battle mechanism kept me coming back even though I had already beaten the game several times over. How great it would be to be able to play this game from your living room couch, right? Wrong. While the Dreamcast version was a perfect arcade-to-console port, the PSX version is anything but ? it shouldn?t even have existed. This game brings the best of both worlds together: Marvel is represented by some of their most well-known characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, War Machine, to name a ...

Capcom announce all-time sales figures: gaming memories activated
2008-05-30 12:59:00
Finding Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts in a grubby local game shop days after it came out in Japan, playing as Zangief on Worthing Pier and still seeing off bigger boys' challenges, being blown away by the Mode 7 runway in Area 88, falling off my chair after hearing the infamous 'Jill sandwich' line for the first time - Capcom games tend to play significant parts in most people's gaming history. Capcom have released some interesting and satisfyingly comprehensive (essentially promotional) stats detailing their best selling franchises, and one message is clear: their comittment to milking their IPs is extraordinary (Fifty Resident Evil games?) but they do it so well (let's pretend not to notice Dino Crisis) that it's hard to begrudge their success. Resident Evil Series (50 titles, 34,500,000 units) Mega Man Series (120 titles, 28,000,000 units) Street Fighter Series (59 titles, 25,000,000 units) Disney Series (33 titles, 13,200,000 units) Devil May Cry Series (10 titles, 9,500,0...

Previews for the other two replacements are shown above. The offer is free and an email confirmation from Capcom states the cover art will be shipping "in the next few weeks."

Capcom pushes the boundries on XBLA
2008-03-17 15:09:00
Most people might not know that Microsoft puts a cap on the size of XBLA titles.  Well, according to Gamespot, Capcom makers of SSFII Turbo HD Remix and Bionic Commando Rearmed, have gotten Microsoft to temporarily lift the 150 mb file size limit on SSFII Turbo HD Remix, so that the PSN and XBLA versions are identical. "Given the sizeable content in Bionic Commando Rearmed and Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Microsoft allowed Capcom to work with a larger file size limit for both of those titles in order to provide gamers with the game experience that Capcom desired, such as full hi-res textures (on Bionic Commando Rearmed) or 1080p support (for SSFIIT)," said the Capcom rep. "The Xbox Live Arcade versions of both titles will have complete feature and graphical parity with the iterations that will be available on other platforms. There were never any issues with 1942 or Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, as those titles were designed from the ground up to meet [Microsoft's...

2008-03-14 07:47:00
Impressions: Capcom Digital Day Delivers Downloadable Delights SAN MATEO, California -- Kicking off the Digital Day press event this week, Capcom's Chris Kramer said that 2008 will be "the biggest single year in company history." That remains to be seen, but if its slate of spring and summer games is the yardstick, it's gotten off to a good start. Over the next few months, Capcom's "digital initiative," announced at last year's press briefing, will finally be in full swing. Capcom is using digital distribution to revive several of its lapsed franchises, like 1942 and Commando. The inexpensive nature of downloadable games, and the fact that Xbox Live Arcade gameplay typically hews close to classic arcade style, means that the company can take a chance and continue some classic game series without having to radically redesign the core concepts. While most other publishers are launching their downloadable games on single platforms, Capcom will lau...

Capcom blog says RE Zero port still has hope for North American releaseFiled under: News Imagine our surprise when Capcom's blog updated to our RSS about the Wii port of Resident Evil Zero. We thought yesterday would be the end of talk pertaining to the game releasing here in the west. But, for you European readers, know this doesn't apply to you. Capcom Europe passed on the project, so apparently there's no hope there. But, back to us in North America. The latest entry in the Capcom blog says they "are watching the progress on the game, and if it ends up blowing up huge like RE4 Wii did, we'll evaluate the possibility of bringing it over here and flipping the lingo sos that y'all can read it." For those of you that don't speak hip blog, that last bit at the end means that they'll localize the game over here with English text and speech. You all pretty much know how we feel (Resident Evil = we buy) about the whole thing, but what do you think? We know a lot of you aren't looki...

Capcom Store offering tiny Okami screensFiled under: News, ScreensThese thumbnail-size screens are the first we've seen of the actual Wii version of Okami. It looks, for better or worse, just like Okami! There are no obvious graphical improvements, and in fact nothing seems to have changed at all except for the button icons. Oh, and the aspect ratio. These screens don't show the widescreen display option available in Wii Okami. In fact, not only are they 4:3, they're 4:3 with vertical bars. In terms of actual stuff, then, these particular screens come out to like 1.2:1. Capcom confirmed to Kotaku that the game would have 16:9 widescreen capabilities, so these screens may not represent the final product. Enjoy your eyestrain! Games I?d love to see on Next-Gen consoles (Part 1: Justice Gakuen)
2008-02-12 23:02:00
This is the first post of a series in wich I'll talk about some old games or game series that I'd like to see again on the next generation consoles (whichever is good, I'm not format-picky, as long as i get them). The games you'll see in this kind of posts are games that I would define milestones of the gaming history, and that in my own opinion, don't deserve to be lost in the sands of time. The first one is the Justice Gakuen series (by Capcom), first published in as Shiritsu Justice Gakuen (Rival Schools in the US) on the Playstation and then as Moero! Justice Gakuen (Project Justice in the US and in Europe). Both games were wonderful examples of fast paced and exciting action, coupled with a compelling and original storyline focused on the rivalry between a few Japanese high schools. The characters also had great charisma, placing the foundations for an awesome series. One of the most interesting features was a "school life" mode, in the form of a quite extensive dating game...

ESRB website ates Lost Plant Clonies as T, Capcom says Stay Tuned - SendMeR

Musical-ecstasy: "Lost Planet Colonies" has been in news since Capcom registered it as a trademark. Speculations and rumors have been surrounding this name for long now and there's no sign of Capcom giving any hint. No one is sure if this is only an extension pack for Lost Planet Extreme Condition or it's another game all-together. News has come from Siliconera blog that even ESRB has rated Lost Planet Colonies as T for the same content as Lost Planet Extreme Conditions was i.e. Animated Blood, Mild Language and Violence. In November USK, German ratings board, rated Lost Planet Colonies on their website and fueled speculations about it. 1UP did contact Capcom only to receive a image saying "stay tuned" in an e-mail. News-Capcom Adds Exclusive Features To PS3 Version of Devil May Cry 4
2008-01-01 23:20:00
As everyone knows, Devil May Cry 4 is coming for the PS3 and the X-Box 360. This was due to Capcom’s promise for more multi-platform games for the next-gen consoles. This made a lot of PS3 fan boys angry since the pervious Devil May Cry games were Playstation only titles. However, the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 might have a few tricks up its sleeves. According to monstersandcritics.com, the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 has more features than the X-Box 360 version of Devil May Cry 4. The features includes an exclusive 5.1 LPCM audio support, PlayStation Network content, and – most interestingly – the ability to install game data directly onto the PlayStation 3 hard drive. This means that Devil May Cry 4 will subsequently remove all loading times associated with the game. Share This

Capcom Rebalancing Street Fighter II's HD Debut
2007-11-13 15:33:00
Capcom isn't just redoing the art and music for the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. They're going in and making what purists might consider drastic changes to the gameplay of the company's flagship fighting game. Designer David Sirlin details some of the changes on the company's blog. They're making several moves, like the Dragon Punch and Spinning Piledriver, easier to pull off. "Let's emphasize good decision making -- the true core of competitive games --and get rid of artificially difficult commands," he writes. Sirlin also says that characters will be rebalanced for tournament play: Specifically, they will "remove the repeatable abuse from the top tier characters." That means if you're used to spamming certain powerful moves from Balrog and Dhalsim, you might find yourself out of luck in HD Remix. All this adds up to what Sirlin calls "a completely new Street Fighter game -- the 6th installment in the SF2 series."Source: Game|LifeMore News:L...
