Track-off: Kane vs Capital Hill
2010-05-17 07:01:00 Monday used to be the worst day of the week. But that was before I introduced the track-off.Now, instead of wishing it were the weekend, ducking your nosy boss or procrastinating on that big project, you can support local musicians from rap to rock to R&B. Your votes decide whether which of two track-off contestants will earn a mention in the RedEye. Here are two slow-building, simmering rap songs with two different lyrical approaches. But what they have in common is what I call Lake-Shore-Drive factor. Yeaahhhh, you can ride right around lovely Lake Michigan listening to these tracks, volume high and windows down. But only one can win. So please listen carefully to both songs and choose the one that deserves...

2008-05-10 13:25:00 Good thing he showed up. Let’s watch the video Isn’t that special? What’s more special, he showed up and did not bother to vote on either of the two roll calls. Matter of fact, he has been deemed as not voting for the majority of Senate votes this year. Copyright © 2008 Pirate's Cove. This Feed is ...

Barack Obama On Capital Hill To Meet and Greet House :Leaders
2008-05-09 03:28:00 Fresh from his win over Senator Hillary Clinton in North Carolina and his near-tie with her in Indiana, thus increasing his delegate lead over her and with the addition of more Superdelegates has only seven fewer lined up for him than Clinton as of this writing and stands at 173 delegates away from the needed 2025 to clinch the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Obama was doing a meet-and-greet, much as Clinton herself had done a day before. This video was made during that event.

The Jell-O has made way for raspberry kiwi tarts and mini-lemon blueberry trifles. Meatloaf has moved over for mahi mahi and buns have been shunted aside in ...

Hopeful Signs
2007-11-15 21:44:00 After years of complaining about politics in America, I?ve had a recent spurt of energy. I see signs that real Americans have had it with the status quo and are taking steps to change things for the better. I?m not used to these feelings of hope and thoughts that we the people is anything but an ...

2007-09-21 10:21:00 The video above is a speech by Nikki Sixx, of Motley Crue, that he gave on Capital Hill before members of Congress last week (who would have thunk that in the 80’s or 90’s). He talks about his recovery from addiction and the need for additional funding for the rehabilitation of addicts. Read about his new book: ‘The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star’
Capital Hill Police Attack Black Reverend For No Reason At Petreus Hearing
2007-09-11 05:51:00 The Capital Hill Police went way over the line here. I mean way over the line. This guy's not even resisting them and they tackle him. Typically stupid law enforcement training -- they see a large Black man and think they have to tackle him. Wild video. They stopped him from entering, while they let other people come in. Take a look for yourself: And read this story...WASHINGTON - September 10 - Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr., president of the Hip Hop Caucus, was attacked by six capitol police today, when he was stopped from entering the Cannon Caucus Room on Capitol Hill, where General Petreaus gave testimony today to a joint hearing for the House Arms Services Committee and Foreign Relations Committee on the war in Iraq. After waiting in line throughout the morning for the hearing that was scheduled to start at 12:30pm, Rev. Yearwood was stopped from entering the room, while others behind him were allowed to enter. He told the officers blocking his ability to enter the room, that...
Election Season has begun!
2007-04-19 15:30:00 You know how I know? Because there were elementary students standing in front of the Legislature chanting "NO Education, NO Re-election!" I love politics! But seriously folks, somebody made the suggestion to close the public schools from August-October to save some money. This didn't sit very well with the teachers or the students, so they hiked up to Capital Hill to raise a stink. It worked. Today the House voted to exempt PSS from the "austerity measures." Now this exemption just has to pass the Senate and then get signed by Governor Ben Fitial. So, just like the move to federalize the minimum wage, we're going to have to wait to see what happens...and then deal with this issue again next year. You've got to give it to teachers. They are underpaid, underappreciated, and overworked every single day, yet they somehow manage to fight for the education of our children...even when it seems like they are the only ones willing to fight.Great job, guys!

2007-01-18 13:15:00 Photo: Joseph Biden(R) listens as Carl Levin addresses reporters during a news conferenceŠAFP/File - Brendan SmialowskiMeanwhile, President Bush faces more problems as the US Senate stepped up its opposition to his plan to increase troop levels by announcing a bipartisan formal resolution of opposition on Wednesday. The non-binding resolution could come up for a vote within two weeks where it would then move to the House.Sen. Hilliary Clinton (D-New York) said even tougher action should be taken calling for all of the funding for the war to cut off to stop the troop increase by power of the congressional purse strings. The resolution was drafted by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Delaware), Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin (D-Michigan) and Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska).Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) went as far as to say, "I will do everything I can to stop the president's policy...I think it is dangerously irresponsible." The bipartisan...
