Your most valuable asset through life could be your health. Being fit and healthy is the in thing. Actually, it really never goes out of style. Thus it is important that you take good care of it. Give it the proper attention it needs. Cardio training is one of your best options in maintaining health. Followed by a good diet and not eating pieces of metal. In other words, go about your training with common sense. No pain no gain went out with parachute pants. photo by Mike Baird What Is Cardio Training? Cardio training involves any activity that requires the use of the large muscle groups of the body in a regular and uninterrupted manner. It elevates the heart rate between 60 to 85 percent of the fastest heart rate you could get. Some of the usual cardio training activities are sparring, walking, jogging, running, aerobics, cycling, tae bo, swimming and rowing. Cardio training is considered an aerobic exercise as one is required to move from one exercise to another. As with any trai...

Cardio Workouts - Get More Out of Them
2008-04-22 10:15:00
The truth is cardio training and aerobic exercise can become very monotonous and boring when you do it on a very regular basis. However, there are a number of things you can do to make your cardio workouts less monotonous, more exciting, and as a result, get much more out of them. If you follow the tips below, you will have more fun with your cardio training and get more out of your workouts. The first thing you can do is to break the monotonous cycle of your cardio training is to switch the type of exercise you do regularly. Most people have their favorite machine or form of exercise that they like to do which is fine. However switching up the machine you use or the type of aerobic exercise you engage in will break the cycle of doing the same thing over and over. It will force you to likely use slightly different muscles and be nice a change from what you are accustomed to. An additional benefit is that you will eliminate any plateau/adaptation effect that comes from doing the same...
Getting The Most Out Of Your Cardio Workout
2008-04-22 10:14:00
There is no question that moderate aerobic exercise has a role to play in fat loss. But as you progress into your program, cardio workouts can become a bit stale and time-consuming. Heck, I know some regular exercisers who probably wouldn’t do cardio if they couldn’t watch “American Idol” while on the treadmill. Now that’s fine, but if you want ongoing change you need to keep finding new ways to challenge your body. A great way to do that is to use Interval Training in your fitness routine. Interval training involves alternating periods of high intensity work with periods of lower intensity “active recovery” (e.g. alternating running with walking). This has several advantages. First, the short duration “burst” during the high intensity phase stimulates muscle in a way which moderate, steady-pace cardio does not. And, if you remember, last month we learned that the key to being able to burn more calories and fat around the clock, ...

Regular Cardio Exercise Can Help Reduce Stress
2008-03-23 06:08:00
In general, regular exercise such as cardio or resistance training can help ease your stress. However, further study need to be done to look at the intensity and duration needed for strength training to achieve the similar results as cardio.Researchers in the University of Missouri-Columbia conducted a study by measuring the stress levels of a group of women who either didn't exercise or exercised at moderate or high-intensity levels for 33 minutes. The results shown that high-intensity aerobic exercise can significantly alleviate stress.People can get addicted to cardio exercise more easily because it's a lot easier to get start with cardio. For example, people don't have to learn how to run. On the other hand, strength training needs supervision on how to get started. Also, cardio exercise requires less focus and your mind can wander and unwind when you're running or jogging. But for weight training, you need to concentrate on the techniques.

Why Cardio Doesn't Work for Fat Loss

Why Cardio Doesn't Work for Fat Loss By: Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MSwww.TurbulenceTraining.comFor- some people, cardio doesn't work, and in fact can make them gain weight. Find out why here...Cardio exercise is such a strange thing. In theory, it should work so perfectly well for all men and women, but as anyone who has tried it knows, the practicality of it just doesn't add up.After all, some men and women do cardio 6 hours, 9 hours, or more per week, and still have belly fat to burn. On the other hand, it works just fine for others.British researchers wanted to get more insight into this paradox, and studied 35 overweight men and women, who weren't previously exercising.(Reference: International Journal of Obesity 32: 177-184, 2008).Subjects exercised 5 times per week for 12 weeks. That's a lot of exercise, but it helped the subjects lose an average of 8.2 pounds, which is great - I was positively surprised by the results. So cardio will work for some people, however, in my expe...

Cardio Resurrected: Tae Bo, Shadow Boxing & Invisible Skipping Ropes
2008-02-19 12:03:00
Ok I have to say that I just finished a cardio workout that I actually enjoyed.  To start off I engaged in some Tae Bo which really got me in a sweat, but I think it would be better as an Abs Workout because it’s 1998 folks and I laughed hard!  This was ok, it got my heart pumping and my only difficulties were trying to do the left side of my body, I couldn’t keep in rhythm; arms and legs doing different things going in the opposite directions.  Have a look for yourself. Next there was Shadow Boxing………e-r……… as I was indoors and there was no shadows, I imagined my old science teacher and then did 5 rounds with him.  It was kind of like the invisible man meets celebrity death match…… And I won, of course! Here is a crash corse in shadow boxing for you; Then comes the invisible skipping rope (A.K.A Jumping on the spot), I felt quit silly and ….. er …. especially when I has holding cans of beans to r...

Synchronize Your Diet And Cardio
2008-01-24 17:26:00
How to synchronize your diet and cardio To jump on the fat-loss bandwagon, you'll probably start with a diet and throw in the cardio at full force to ramp up your progress. This technique is common among all those craving a lean physique because they want results now, which is understandable considering that most men will need to spend a good four to five months in the gym while eating a surplus to put on any muscle mass. After patiently waiting for muscle to appear, men are eager to show off the results. But when it comes to fat loss, too much can be a very bad thing. Here’s how to synchronize your diet and cardio in the healthiest and most efficient way possible to get the kind of muscle mass you’re dying to show off.Create a negative balance To synchronize your diet and cardio, remember: In order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. If you don't achieve this negative balance, you aren't going to lose any weight. Alternately, if you achieve too much ...

7 Popular Cardio Myths
2008-01-05 17:43:00
Is cardio the answer for fat loss? There are many different views on what type of cardio is best, as well as how long and how often you need to perform it if you’re trying to lose weight. And what if you’re trying to bulk up? Will cardio undermine your efforts? The number of theories out there is enough to make your head spin. Here are some common myths surrounding this controversial topic.Myth No. 1: Steady-state cardio is the best way to burn fat.The truth: Although you may be able to perform this “easier” type of cardio for a longer period of time, thus burning more calories while you are doing it, it is what happens afterward that is more significant. With high intensity interval training, which is cardio performed at a much more intense level, your body will expend a greater number of calories throughout the day in order to repair itself after the hard workout; this results in a greater number of overall calories burned.Myth No. 2: The more cardio you do, the more you c...
