The beach was full of people, not the same dudes that lives here, but several friends from other Brazilian cities and countries. Every time I spent a day like this, I come home with nice ideas of posting something very "Carioca", such like this beautiful homage album released by RGE to celebrate Rio de Janeiro 4th centenarian in 1964. 2007-08-21 09:48:00 There were quite a few very good Dutch Indo-rock bands out there in the Sixties.This is one of them - the Crazy Rockers - recorded in 1963They were a rock & roll group from The Hague featuring members of Indonesian and Surinamese origin. This group existed from 1961 'til 1966; mostly touring in Germany. Members: Harry Berg (first dr, later g, ex-Real Room Rockers, to Dick Scott & Barons), Eddie Chatelin (v, g, ex-Real Room Rockers), Woody Brunings (v, g, to Residents), Pim Veeren (b, ex-René & Alligators, to Residents) and Sidney Rampersadt (first v, later dr, ex-Black Dynamites). By the end of 1965, Sidney was replaced by Boy Brostowski (dr, ex-Danny & Favourites, to Dick Scott & Barons) and the group was also expanded with keyboardplayer Jack van Rossum (to Dick Scott & Barons). Mestres da MBP was a series of compilations released by Warner to take advantage of the CD age by remastering old analogy tapes to digital format. Everybody asks me to gather the old Os Cariocas 78 rpm recordings, but they are quite impossible to find and this post address this issue bringing some remastered songs released on those recordings. This beautiful cover has been on earth since 1960, 47 years and how it gets hurt since them. I use to make some fixes using computer graphics, but I decided to show it unchanged this time.I have some questions, how to get rid of that bands with glue used to fix the corners and borders? How to clean the surface and remove dirty with no damage to cover paper. How to remove paper seals and how to eliminate the round marks of the LP borders at the cover? Pencil marks; is there a way to get rid of them? Sorry, for the several questions, but sometimes we need to pull knowledge from friends instead of trying from scratch. Thanks. 2006-12-23 16:18:01 This record came to my attention about an hour before by a new Loronixer from the United States that has recently joined us. Let's call him Jim, a serious Bossa Nova collector. He asked for this LP Os Cariocas - Passaporte (1966), Polydor, as the only one missing from his Os Cariocas collection.I have been with this LP for a long time and I was not aware how hard it was to track down. Passaporte landmarks the last LP before the group went to a recording hiatus of long 24 years, interrupted only in 1990 with the CD Minha Namorada. The line-up for this LP is Severino Filho, Quartera, Badeco and Luis Roberto. Os Cariocas - Mais Bossa com Os Cariocas (1963)
2006-12-14 10:00:02 This is in response of the recommendation sent by Cesar Saldanha yesterday at CBox. It was a great surprise to hear today this LP for the first time. Os Cariocas discography has several albums with very similar names, such as: "A Grande Bossa dos Cariocas", "Mais Bossa com Os Cariocas", "Os Cariocas de 400 Bossas", etc. quite similar to each other. I use to recognize each one and I confess to skip this really great LP.So, this is Os Cariocas - Mais Bossa com Os Cariocas (1963), for Philips, a quite early Os Cariocas LP, in comparison with the latest ones we had at Loronix. This LP was released just after the successful A Bossa dos Cariocas, their first release for Philips. Many Loronixers are Os Cariocas enthusiasts and they should have a lot of fun with this release. 2006-12-07 21:50:02 Hello, Good Night! Today I'm feeling really tired. I slept badly last night, less than two hours. The name of the disease is called "computer problems". A big problem this time. I have been with computer for the last twenty years and I never loose a battle with them. I will make another round tonight, but I'm afraid to loose. It is a minor problem, a DVD-ROM attached with as a USB device isn't working anymore. Corrupted ATPI drivers that I know by heart how to replace are not working. The final solution is a full SO reinstall with all customizations made to Loronix on the drain.Sorry about this, I'm really disappointed and sometimes is good share with Loronixers some feelings.Anyway, let's forget it for the next 5 hours, another Loronix day is just starting, starting great with another Mr. X. contribution. Os Cariocas - Os Cariocas de Quatrocentas Bossas (1965)
2006-12-02 15:40:10 This LP is a missing piece even to long time Bossa Nova collectors, really. I cannot count how many times Os Cariocas - Os Cariocas de Quatrocentas Bossas (1965), for Philips, was requested, but I'm sure that many friends were waiting for this release.Os Cariocas de 400 Bossas is an important milestone to Os Cariocas career, being the first LP to have a great acceptance by the public and media. I'm not sure of what the four hundred means, but it seems to be a reference of the 400th anniversary of Rio de Janeiro City. I will do my best being a good bird and I hope to see the 500th anniversary of this amazing city with the age of 100 years old. Tracks include:PS.: This cover is outstanding, simple and efficient.
