2008-04-14 10:38:00 Como ya comenté hace tiempo en este blog, soy un seguidor acérrimo de la obra de Carl Sagan, por lo que me propuse tener toda su bibliografia editada en castellano al completo.Pues bien, me faltaba un libro, Cometa, que no encontraba en ninguna librería, inclusive de libros antiguos, por lo que tuve que echar mano de nuevo de las compras en el extranjero. Esta vez a sido Argentina al fin tengo un libro que he buscado durante un año. Aunque debo decir que en su búsqueda me tope con otro del que desconocía su existencia: El Frio y las tinieblas (el libro blanco a la derecha de la fotografía, y que esta escrito por 3 personas mas)Aun así, creo que aun me falta un libro mas y es "Sombras de antepasados olvidados", pero como con Cometa, voy a hacer todo lo posible por conseguirlo.Os lo cuento en unos meses.Saludos.Skizo en horario laboral

2008-01-07 17:15:00 Como he comentado en muchas otras ocasiones, Carl Sagan fue quizas, al igual que con muchas otras personas, quien me hizo abrir los ojos a todo este mundo de la astronomia y el escepticismo.Me lei Cosmos y me quedé maravillado. Seguí con Un Punto Azul Palido y las sensaciones fueron brutales. Continué con El Mundo y sus Demonios y la lectura fue indescriptible. Finalmente me llegó la pelicula Contact basada en la novela de Sagan y decidí que me haria con todos los libros en castellano de Carl. Y así he hecho.He tardado pero a excepcion del libro "Cometa" que no encuentro ni en anticuarios (desde aqui hago un llamamiento a quien me lo quiera vender), creo que tengo el resto de sus publicaciones en castellano.¡Algunos como "Comunicacion con inteligencias extraterrestres" solo lo encontré en una libreria de......JAPON! Por fin una televisión de calidad.Hace mese intenté hacer una recogida de firmas para presentar en alguna cadena para la reemision de esta serie documental galardonada con infinidad de premios. La recogida pasó sin pena ni gloria (no llegué a las 80 o asi...). 2006-12-21 16:25:02 I confess I’m not as knowledgeable on the works of Carl Sagan as I’d like to be, but it is the 10th anniversary of his passing, and there is a blog-a-thon going on. Carl Sagan (1934-1996) was a Cornell astronomy professor from right here in Ithaca. His thoughts are some of the most revolutionary of the 20th century, including the books Cosmos and Pale Blue Dot (both of which I know by reputation, but will only finally read in the coming month). Most significantly, in my mind, is his use of the image of Earth from the edge of the solar system, which is partially attributed to starting the modern environmental movement. Simply put, he helped us as humans rethink our place in the Universe. (more…)
