CARRAGHER TIPS HOBBS TO SHINE
2007-09-25 14:55:00 Paul Hassall 24 September 2007Jamie Carragher has backed Jack Hobbs to seize his opportunity if he makes his Liverpool bow against Reading in the Carling Cup tomorrow. The Reds vice-captain has followed the former Lincoln City player's progress since he moved to the club two-and-a-half years ago and after seeing him star in the Youth Cup success of 2005 Carragher is convinced the 19-year-old is ready to make the step up. "Jack has done very well and we have been impressed with him in training," said Carragher. "He came in from Lincoln and was a massive part of us winning the Youth Cup two years on the trot. "Now he is captain of the reserves and he deserves his chance. That is what the club is about, giving young lads the chance to play alongside our foreign players."People sometimes complain about the amount of foreign players coming in, so it is good that a good English lad can get the chance to show what he can do. "He deserves his chance, but that is up to the manager...

Carragher Stays, Hyypia On The Way Out?
2007-05-20 21:11:00 Looks like we’ll have a defensive reshuffle on the cards this summer with the possibility that Sami Hyypia is heading for the exit door. It is something I’ve seen for quite a while now and I’d say I’m not the only one either. Leadership qualities aside, Sami doesn’t have the pace he had when he ...

Injury Update: Carragher & Riise
2006-08-20 19:27:03 Word from LiverpoolFC.tv this afternoon points that Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise suffered a bit more than the suspected twisted ankles yesterday and both look set to spend at least two weeks on the sidelines. Jamie Carragher has suffered sprained medial ligaments in his left ankle. Riise, who went down under a heavy challenge from Rob Hulse, has torn lateral ligaments in his left ankle. Both will most certainly play no part in this week’s Champions League qualifier.

Carragher Out Of Haifa Game
2006-08-20 19:27:03 Jamie Carragher is set to miss this week’s vital away qualifier against Maccabi Haifa after twisting his ankle in yesterday’s game against Sheffield United. Carragher was taken out on 33 minutes with a twisted ankle, as was John Arne Riise only minutes previous and though x-rays show that there is no serious damage done, Rafa Benitez later announced that Jamie wouldn’t be travelling this week, with either Danny Agger or Gabriel Paletta expected to start in his place. Almost sure Carragher won’t play, while with Riise we will have to wait and see, but he is in pain John Arne Riise is also highly doubtful for the game and if so, we can expect to see Fabio Aurélio starting at left back with Mark Gonzalez starting on the wing. Nice to have all of this left sided cover!
