Unfortunately, the five hits included a two out double to Mike Cameron in the first inning that scored Brian Giles who he had walked, and a Kahill Greene two-run blast in the fourth. Despite home plate umpire Kerwin Danley giving JvB another inch on the strike zone in every direction, all he could muster was 53% strikes.. not his best command and control day by any means. But in the end, he was effective against the powder puff Padres lineup even though he was extremely hittable. AAA pitcher Jack Cassels was a couple of ticks better which earned him his first career MLB win in his second career start. To be completely honest, Pirate batters looked completely indifferent at the plate against Cassels. 2007-02-11 22:46:07 Dan Patrick mentioned during the Heat/Spur’s pregame that the Heat are working on a deal to swing Clips Sam Cassell in a deal including James Posey and or others. The Heat are in dire need of a backup point guard with J-Dub having chronic injury issues. Cassell is a veteran with a few rings under his belt. He is a spot up shooter who can drain the three’s. According to NBA.com, since returning to the staring lineup, Cassell is averaging 17 points and 12.5 assists, as well as converting all 13 of his free throw attempts. Cassell has regained the starting PG spot from Shawn Livingston and with the Clippers on a 4 game winning streak, he won’t be giving it up any time soon. We will see, Livingston might have to take that spot back if this deal is done. Honestly, can’t we package Posey with Toine/Wright to swing a younger more explosive point guard to go along with Wade?
