Yo doy ejemplo: jamás me he casado.

Why The ETA Political Wing Was Banned
2008-03-20 13:26:00 The latest death toll figures from Hurricane Katrina can be seen on this website here. The famous Russian neo-Nazi video is on this blog here.Updated March 24, 2008: I received an interesting email from one Gonzalo Polo (website here), a Spanish nationalist. I am publishing the parts of it that can be published here. I normally don't post the names of emailers as it is a violation of Netiquette, but he issued a veiled threat to me, so he gets named. If you don't want me to reveal contents of your mails, don't threaten me.I always supported the Basque and even Catalan separatist causes. In the Basque movement, I supported the armed wing called the ETA. This mail points out some less than flattering things about the ETA, so I am running it, and it also tells us some interesting stories about the history of the Iberian Peninsula.I am posting it to provide another perspective to the National Question in Spain.I still think that Spain should allow a referendum on independence, and tha...

The disappearance of Spanish from Catalonia
2007-12-06 12:18:00 In common with all Spanish holidays, we’re completely full with Spanish guests this evening thanks to the Spanish holidays on December 6th (Constitution Day) and December 8th (Immaculate Conception). Or, rather, we’re full of people from Spain but going by those that arrived last night not all of them will be Spanish. Thanks to the rising ...

Press Release: USA vs Catalonia Will Not Happen; USA vs South Africa Signed
2007-09-25 04:25:00 CHICAGO (September 21, 2007) ? The U.S. Men?s National Team?s friendly against Catalonia has been cancelled after the Royal Spanish Football Federation voted not to approve the application to play the match. The Spanish Federation, who has authority for sanctioning any match played in Spain, ultimately chose not to allow the match to take place."We are disappointed that the match will not be played, since we believe playing Catalonia would be an excellent experience for our players,? said U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati. ?Nonetheless,...

AP: USA vs Catalonia To Be Scrapped?
2007-09-06 22:30:00 MADRID, Spain (AP) - The United States' Oct. 14 match against Catalonia is in danger of being scrapped after the Spanish football federation refused to recognize the friendly Monday. "There's an agreement between clubs and the league that all games played by autonomous selections have to be played during Christmas holidays since it doesn't leave the clubs in a tough spot and the players don't risk injury," federation spokesman Jorge Carretero said. The Spanish federation rejected the date since it falls between Spain's European championship qualifying match at Denmark on Oct. 13 and a friendly against Finland in Helsinki on Oct. 17.The friendly is scheduled to be played at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona*****My thoughts? This would SUCK! I was really looking forward to this game, not only because I feel it would be a great opportunity for the U.S. to showcase their talent on European soil, but since this is a special "regional" team, it would have been very unique. Hopefully so...

2007-08-08 17:48:00 Spanish Apes May Have Been the First SwingersAncestors to modern orang-utans?A new study in Proceedings B has found that an ancient ape from Catalonia, Spain was both a tree-walker and tree-swinger suggesting that this species could show the transitional period when apes were adapting to a life brachiating through the forest canopy. The latest issue of New Scientist explains that the9.5-million-year-old fossil of the ape Hispanopithecus laietanus reveals that it had fingers that were longer than those of a modern gorilla or human, but not as long as those of an orang-utan: an arrangement of bones unique among all known apes, alive or extinct. That would have allowed it to hang from tree branches as orang-utans do, but also walk on all fours along the larger branches with its palms flat on the surface. The authors state that their study's resultsreveal many similarities with extant orang-utans (Pongo). These similarities are interpreted as adaptations to below-branch suspensory behavi...
The seroepidemiology of tetanus in catalonia, spain
2007-01-31 00:23:01 Abstract??Titres of anti-tetanus toxin antibodies ?0.1?IU/ml were determined using an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in representative samples of the juvenile and adult population of Catalonia. The prevalence obtained in 1,316 juveniles and 1,296 adults was 99.4 and 68.3%, respectively. In adults, the prevalence in males (76.5%) was higher (P?<?0.001) than in females (61.7%), fell with increasing age and was higher in subjects born in Catalonia (72.5%) than in those born outside Catalonia (57.9%) (P?<?0.001). These results show that routine vaccination of children is successful. In adults aged ?45?years, the prevalence is inadequate and efforts should be made to increase vaccination.
