2008-03-27 22:30:00 Released this week is the debut album from Cavalera Conspiracy, called "Inflikted", which is out on Roadrunner Records. It is the first time the Cavalera brothers, Max and Igor, have made a record together since their well documented falling out at a Sepultura gig at Brixton Academy in 1996. And as such many Sepultura fans (myself included) are very much interested to hear what the boys have been upto, aswell as hoping that it may pave the way for a return of the original Sepultura lineup.Well upon listening to the track "Sanctuary" from said album, I can tell you that the Cavalera brothers are well and truly back! Its really heavy, with tons of intricate guitar solo's all over the place, pounding drums from Igor, and the familiar growling snarl of Max. After 12 years apart you may expect some sort of rustyness to occur, but there's none of that here, the music is really tight and accomplished.If the rest of the album follows in a similar vain, then I think we definatley have an e...

Except for a few small notes left on their website, Gojira's axeman/vocalist Joe Duplantier has been relatively quiet about his contributions in his brand new band with Max and Igor Cavalera and Marc Rizzo. 2007-09-17 09:25:00 Brazilian metal titans Max and Igor Cavalera have commenced writing and recording new material for the first time in 12 years, since recording Sepultura's Roots in 1995. The new project, named Cavalera Conspiracy, features the Cavalera brothers (Max on vocals and rhythm guitar and Igor on drums), Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo and Joe Duplantier from Gojira on bass. Rex Brown (Pantera, Down) cameos on bass on one track. Another track features a collaboration with Max, Joe and Richie Cavalera (Incite) on vocals. Monte Conner, Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R recently visited the band in the studio. "Having stopped by the studio, I can tell you the magic between Max and Igor is still there. When these brothers play together, it's like the planets align," he says. "Igor's playing is simply on fire, and as always, Max continues to have one of the most recognizable and powerful voices in all of metal. It was great to see both Max and Igor with such big smiles on their faces."
