Line of the Day: Chase Utley
2008-04-21 01:32:00 Look at the numbers Chase Utley's already compiled this season: 16 runs, 8 HR, 17 RBI, 2 SB and a .351 batting average. Wow. Why didn't I draft him instead of Jose Reyes with the sixth-overall pick in my money league? It seems like every other game Chase's box looks something like it did today ...Chase Utley: 3-for-3, 2 runs, 2 HR, 4 RBI

Philadelphia Sports Figures To Watch In 08?
2008-01-02 22:25:00 ITI’s Top Ten of 2008 10. Andre Igoudala- He is the young talented player on the Sixers right now. Not a tremendous player, but he will impact how well the Sixers do. I could have put Cole Hamels here, but I figured I needed at least one Sixer on the list. 9. Ed Stefanski- The new Sixers ...
MLB: Rounding Third [Jay Moussab]
2007-08-28 23:49:00 With there star 2nd baseman returning to the lineup yesterday the Phillies crushed the Mets 9-2. With homeruns from Chase Utley, Tadahito Iguchi, and Met killer Pat Burrell and excellent pitching from J.D. Durbin the Phils actually looked like a playoff team. Willie Randolph said this about Chase Utley, "He's an excellent player. I'm not looking forward to seeing him."The Braves destroyed the Marlins 13-2 behind Brian McCann's grand slam and a 4-6 night off the bat of Matt Diaz. Lance Cormier gets the win as Scott Olsen gets the loss.In the AL East the Yanks get spanked by the Detroit Tigers by a score of 16-0. That was the worst road loss for the Yanks since 1907. The Yanks now face the Red Sox for a 3 game series. The Yanks are now 8 games behind in the East and 2 in the Wild Card. The AL West might be decided this week as the Mariners are hosting the Angels who are now leading the division by 2 games after beating the Mariners last night by a score of 6-0. Hot hitting Garrett A...

MLB News From Yesterday - Twins, Chase Utley, Mike Mussina, Brian Wilson
2007-08-28 17:41:00 Anyone see the Twins' Mauer-less line-up last night? Mike Redmond, Jason Tyner and Nick Punto batted 7th through 9th with Alexi Casilla and Jason Bartlett batting one and two. Twins' GM Terry Ryan has plaudits raining down upon him, but isn't that 5/9s of a line-up an example of dereliction of GM duty? Isn't that worse than what Astros' GM Tim Purpura put out there? Chase Utley went 3-5, hit his 18th HR and 42nd double, and drove in his 84th run in his return from a broken hand. With more than a month to go, the four weeks he missed will have absolutely no effect on his status as the elite 2B in baseball and as a mid-1st round pick in fantasy drafts in 2008. The Yankees gave Mike Mussina a two-year/$23MM contract, and he appears to be done as a rotation mainstay. What makes it worse is the Average Annual Value is more than the disaster of a contract the Yankees gave Carl Pavano who may help the Yankees more in 2008 by not pitching than Mussina will...

Chase Utley rocks! [Chrissy]
2007-08-25 16:48:00 I could not be more upset, furious and disappointed with Michael Vick and his counterparts. The practice of dog fighting and the associated behaviors and circumstances are reprehensible and inexcusable. On a brighter note, someone is using their celebrity for an excellent cause and I could not be happier.Officials said a young dog was beaten, kicked and then set on fire Thursday in the 100 block of Hirst Street in West Philadelphia. She has extensive burns all over her face.Witnesses said they saw six teenage boys torturing the animal. One witness called police. It's believed the dog is about 7 months old.The little pit bull-boxer mix is being treated at the SPCA facility in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia... Jen Utley just happened to be at the SPCA when the puppy was brought in. She and her husband, Phillies second basemen Chase Utley, are paying for the puppy's medical bills and rehabilitation. Utley is a dog lover. After seeing the dog, she said to the facility?s worke...

Chase Utley (2B-PHI)
2007-04-05 22:08:00 Chase Utley has also struggled out of the gate for the Phillies. Utley was back in the 4-hole to protect Ryan Howard but could only manage a double and is now 2-9 on the season. If things don't click soon, Utley will probably be back in the 3-hole.
