Disney Movies Re- Released On YouTube: Spreading The Holiday Cheer?
2011-11-25 08:23:00
YouTube has just rolled out some full-length Disney movies from the archives. These movies are available for a nominal rent. Coming up with perfect timing for the holidays, YouTube has re-released some classic Disney movies available on rent like Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh. Available both for the Desktop & Android smart-phones, the service allows users to stream, and save the movies for offline viewing. Pricing is US $3.99 for the titles, and the viewing window (or validity of the ‘Ticket’) is 24 hours. Earlier this month, YouTube and The Walt Disney Co had confirmed that they were teaming up to co-produce original video series and feature “family-friendly” Disney programming on the popular video-sharing site. “Disney Interactive will produce and program the co-branded video destinations for both Disney.com and YouTube, providing a family-friendly experience for viewers across both platforms,” Disney and YouTube said. “More Disney movi...

Pretty Parties: Holiday Chic & Cheer at Tease Salon
2010-12-21 21:16:00
Last Thursday, the PrettyCity staff gathered at Tease Salon in Chicago for our annual holiday bash.   I'd been told that the space was amazing, but decadent & delicious is more like it. The walls are drenched in pink and the word "Tease" spelled out in rhinestones adorns the space over the reception desk. The picture below doesn't nearly capture the sparkle of it all.  Thousands of hand-placed rhinestones spell "Tease" above the reception desk.   The owners decorated the space themselves, even refurbishing and reupholstering the vintage furniture that lends comfort to the salons many nooks and crannies.  A pink silk pillow rests on a black and white chaise lounge as you enter the space paired with the chicest Christmas tree...

A Cheer for US airways
2010-07-12 11:23:00
You see, the plane had to land in Birmingham! No, not that large city in England but that little one in the middle of the USA! We were in Houston waiting to board the 1535pm to Charlotte but the inbound plane had a medical emergency, take all the time you want we can wait for the plane to arrive. I would be the last person in the world to think bad about situations like that! But it was what happened afterwards that had my fellow passengers and I seeing red. The plane had to land in Birmingham (Alabama did I hear somebody say?) and so us waiting passengers duly obliged the sole announcement and grabbed ourselves the third Big Mac of the afternoon, overweight helpings of sickly looking chocolate covered raisins or joined the long queue to complain volubly to some poor and very lost check-in girl who obviously knew less than we did about delayed flights. I decided to participate in one of my lifelong hobbies - that of trying to find a banana, apple or orange within the departure lo...
10 Reasons Keanu Reeves Should Cheer Up. Plus, Keanu Bingo!
2010-06-15 21:01:00
Cheer up Keanu, everybody!  A recent photo of Keanu Reeves sitting on a park bench in New York, looking dejected and morosely eating what appears to be a sandwich has kicked off a Web frenzy. (Left: from guestofaguest.com) The shot of him looking sad, or perhaps merely pensive, has spawned Cheer Up Keanu Reeves Day, which was Tuesday. The paparazzo shot has spread everywhere online, resulted in several Facebook pages and led to more than 200,000 comments on the website reddit.com . Web illustrators Photoshopped the "Matrix" star into other gloomy settings: next to Forrest Gump, in a Kim Jong-Il family portrait, looking like a sad, crazy cat lady, on the "Lost" island, even next to Stalin and Churchill. ...
4 Things Small Business Can Cheer In Obama's State of the Union
2010-01-28 13:53:00
I love the President Obama's populist style. He said last night in his State of the Union that "the worst of the storm has passed" and that we need to put "Americans back to work today to build the infrastructure of tommorrow." But what I listen for are specific things President Obama will do for small business since it is the backbone of our economy. There was plenty of promises again, but can he deliver?   ...

Something to Cheer Up Bears Fans
2009-11-14 01:54:00
Since Bears fans and the namesake have had a rough week, I found a video gem to cheer you all up. It comes from Powder, or as I like to call him, Mini-Conan O' Brien. You may recall him from such videos on JCS like the "Jay Cutler Rap". Turns out he's a huge Packer fan and he has a new "rap" called "Packer Backer". You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll send it to your friends and you'll make your kids promise they will NEVER write rhymes like this. Without further ado......

A Yuletide Frolic III - "Cheer Up and Smile!"
2008-12-20 23:10:00
Happy Holidays! For this third annual Yuletide Frolic edition of "Vitaphone Varieties," we'll acknowledge the disconcerting notion that the less romantic and fanciful aspects of the late 20's and early 30's might be closer to us than we suspect by entirely ignoring that fact and simply having fun with this post! While postmen today don't seem to carry parcels any longer --- or smile much either for that matter, one can't help but wonder at the contents of some of those neatly wrapped parcels he cheerfully lugs up this snowy residential city street --- here forever caught in a mid-delivery time warp of the sort that most of us still experience today every now and then.To accompany him on his appointed route, let's pipe in Eddie Cantor's (timely!) 1931 recording of "Cheer Up! Smile! Nertz!""Cheer Up! Smile! Nertz!" (1931)Although this second image was taken on the same stretch of street, we have another smiling postman here --- and a grateful recipient as well. To continue and c...
Where is the Christmas Cheer?
2008-12-20 12:09:00
I really, really like to wrap presents. There's something about making sure that the recipient is just as pleased with how the gift looks before they know what's inside as they are when it's opened. Lately, I've been trying to be less wasteful and more environmentally aware. So last year I decided that I would only wrap my Christmas gifts with newspaper since I also love reading newspapers during my commute and feel a bit guilty about that. Not just any old newspaper, though - any wrapping I did had to be with the pages that had Christmas themes/pictures. Advertising didn't count, just heart-warming items that were reflective of the holiday season. I had tons of 'gift wrap' last year. This year, I'm scrounging. I've had to use ads, thank goodness for Selfridges who have done lots of 2-page spreads covered in snowmen rather than products. Today I had to use the ad that Transport for London is running that's got a boy with a mitten on it reminding people to check the train sc...
caught up in christmas cheer....sort of.
2008-12-12 23:48:00
sorry its taken me so long to update the thanksgiving week from hell. well, i went in for my IV infusion of magnesium and that went fine. then i went to be drained and that went as it usually does. the PA didn't get me with the first poke and had to do it again and deeper like i told her in the first place. i understand why these people don't want to listen to me, the patient....it makes it seem like im telling them how to do their job. im really not. im a good patient most of the time. i put on my big girl pants and deal, but i know my body better than anybody AND i have been drained several times now and have actually had one of the PA's tell me to tell the next one details about me to make it go more smoothly. to just go in on the left, no matter what the right side shows on the ultrasound. i need 2 shots of lidocane and they have to go deep...farther than they think before the fluid will start coming out. see, there is a lot of scar tissue built up on that side, which is why ...

Aprils You Cheer Me Up Awards
2008-04-09 07:32:00
I've decided to use a different episode from the I love Lucy Show when passing out the You Cheer Me Up Award each month. Above is the image for the award with the code beneath it, if you would like to add it to your sidebar or pass it along to others. The image of Lucy up to mischief again, is Lucy's first time doing a commercial for an advertising agency, but not her first job. It was also one of the many times she trying to show Ricky that she was an independent woman capable of making it on her own- Back in January, I wanted to pass out an award that made people laugh, and I knew the images and scenes from the classic situational comedy I love Lucy would be the perfect way to turn other bloggers and readers into a bunch of gigantic giggle boxes. I envisioned people laughing at their desks and home at this talented comedian who has been out of our lives too long, even though she remains in our hearts and memories. However, I discovered that some people aren't familiar wit...
