2007-10-09 13:02:00 Simon Aldred è il nome del cantante, o forse è meglio dire cantautore, che si cela dietro lo pseudonimo Cherry Ghost (nome preso da un verso di "Theologians" dei Wilco), diventato piuttosto noto anche nel nostro paese grazie al singolo "People Help The People", in alta rotazione nelle radio da qualche tempo. Aldred viene da Bolton e ha cominciato come solista nel 2005, ma a poco a poco Cherry Ghost è diventato un progetto comprendente un'intera band. "Thirst For Romance" è il nome del primo album del gruppo, uscito all'inizio di settembre e molto apprezzato da critica e pubblico nel Regno Unito. Un disco caldo, pieno, intenso, di un genere che mescola country folk ed indie rock. Maturo nonostante sia un disco d'esordio. Ottimi arrangiamenti, belle melodie, spesso amare, malinconiche, e testi che parlano di persone comuni (di Bolton come di ogni altra parte) e delle loro storie, interpretati con sentimento e passione da Aldred.
