2008-06-04 05:49:00
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that former New England Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin will meet with the Houston Texans on Wednesday. Colvin played the last five seasons with the Patriots. In his time in New England he missed parts of two seasons with injuries. Last year he went on the IR in November after he reportedly ...
Grading The Draft: 1999
2008-05-28 23:07:00
I decided to really take a close look at how good the Eagles have been at finding talent in the NFL draft. I will go over every draft since Andy Reid has been here, and give each player a grade. Now keep in mind Andy Reid has only technically been the GM since 2002, but he ...
Hey Lady, You?re Doing It Wrong.. [The Cedric Benson Boating Arrest]
2008-05-07 21:53:00
I won’t give a long explanation of what happened, but for those of you who don’t know the details, Cedric Benson was arrested for “boating while intoxicated” this weekend. His story of events vary wildly from his arresting officers who used pepper spray to subdue him. Benson said he was a victim of police brutality. A ...

The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #14 - Chicago Bears
2008-04-02 18:59:00
With the 13th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois. This was the closest vote yet, with Mendenhall getting 32% and Chris Williams getting 31%. So here's how the last 5 picks look: Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, LSU (80%) New Orleans Saints - Keith Rivers, LB, USC (41%) Buffalo Bills - Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma (25%) Denver Broncos - Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt (30%) Carolina Panthers - Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois (32%) To see the entire draft so far, click here. Up next, with pick #14, are the Chicago Bears.  Below are the Bears' draft needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown: 1. Quarterback: Is there any doubt that this is #1? For years now the Bears have had issues under center and it may have cost them a Super Bowl. It's time to find a long-term solution once and for all. 2. Offensive Tackle: Fred Miller has played his last down in a Bears uniform so a starter is needed at right tackle and with...
In The Red Zone: Free Agency Day 4
2008-03-04 04:49:00
TE Alge Crumpler has a two year deal with the Tennessee Titans for which the terms aren’t available yet. DE Bobby McCray signed a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, terms were not disclosed. The Chicago Bears traded QB Brian Griese to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it will be his second go around with John Gruden’s team. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed QB Ben Roethlisberger to an 8-year $102 million contract extension with $36 million in guarantees. Excuse me while I call my new friend Ben. The New York Giants signed S Sammy Knight no terms were released. Two days ago it was reported that the Miami Dolphins had signed Calvin Pace but something must have fallen apart somewhere and now the New York Jets signed LB Calvin Pace to a 6-year $42 million contract with $22 million in guarantees and RT Damien Woody, a former Patriot, to a 5-year $25.5 million contract with $11 million guaranteed. The Atlanta Falcons released RB Warrick Dunn one day after signing “The B...
In The Red Zone - Free Agency Day 3
2008-03-03 01:00:00
Free agents signings and other dealings, as it was kind of a slow Sunday: The Chicago Bears re-signed LB Lance Briggs to a 6-year $36 million contract with $13 million guaranteed. The Atlanta Falcons signed RB Michael Turner to six-year $34 million contract with about $15 million guaranteed. They also signed TE Ben Hartsock to a 4-year ...
The Chicago Bears have handed a one-year contract extension to quarterback
2008-02-27 04:10:00
The 25-year-old is likely to compete with Rex Grossman, who has also signed a new deal, for the starting job next season. A three-year veteran out of Purdue, Orton started the final three games of the last campaign, winning two of them. He completed 43-of-80 passes for 478 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions after ...

2008 NFL Mock Draft: Chicago Bears
2008-02-26 07:56:00
Pick No. 14: Chicago Bears2006 was a magical season for the Chicago Bears. They made a Cinderella run to the Super Bowl. They featured the best defense and special teams in the NFL, as well as an offense that could grind out yards and kill you deep on occasion. The Super Bowl didn?t work out the way they wanted, but the future looked bright in the windy city. Then 2007 came and the wheels fell off.Rex Grossman went from a Chicago hero in 2006 to a guy nobody wanted midway through 2007. It got so bad that he was actually benched for former Denver Bronco great Brian Griese. To be a successful quarterback in the NFL you need to do one of two things: Lead the offense effectively or just don?t get in the way.Rex Grossman spent the entire 2007 season getting in the way. That said, resigning him for one season was good for a number of reasons. 1) Vinny Testaverde is retired and no longer available.2) Drew Bledsoe is retired and no longer available.3) Brian Griese is absolutely horrify...
Rex Grossman Isn't The Answer For The Bears
2008-02-26 01:19:00
Lovie Smith must see something I don't see. How the Bears can give Rex Grossman a one year contract extension is beyond me because ever since he has been the starter for the Chicago Bears, Grossman has been extremely inconsistent. He will have days that he looks like an elite quarterback in the league throwing for 3 or 4 touchdowns with over a 100 point quarterback rating. Then there are other games that he only completes 3 or 4 passes while throwing a couple interceptions and has a quarterback rating under 10. Two years ago he somehow lead the Bears to Super Bowl, excuse me the Bears defense lead the Bears to the Super Bowl while it seemed like Grossman did everything he could to screw it up for the Bears. If the Bears have a reliable quarterback I almost would be willing to say the Bears would of won Super Bowl 41 over the Indianapolis Colts. This season he only started a handful of games before being benched by coach Smith. The move just doesn't make sense to me. Chicago should...

Reid gives bad Birds detention
2007-10-23 12:12:00
A new horror flick made its big-screen debut Monday before a captive audience.Eagles players, accustomed to getting the day after a game off unless they need treatment for an injury, were summoned to the team's South Philadelphia practice facility by coach Andy Reid for a team meeting and film review of their 19-16 loss to the Chicago Bears.''There's a problem and we need to make sure we fix it,'' Reid said. ''I don't want it to sit another day or two. I want to make sure we get in so that the fellows can move on to [preparations for] Minnesota.''I want them, No. 1, to look at the film and evaluate their mistakes. Then I want them to get it out of their minds fast and move on. We've got a good football team that we're going to play in Minnesota this week, and it's important that we learn from this and that we get it changed around quick.''The extra day of mental work did not seem to surprise Eagles players...Read more from The Morning Call>>
Birds D Collapses In Final Minute
2007-10-22 02:42:00
97 Friggin Yards:The Eagles defense has been excellent this year. So when Sav Rocca pinned the Bears deep with a minute 52 seconds left, you would think they could be able to hold the Bears inept offense one last time.Well if you saw this dreadful game, then you already know they didn't hold. The Bears had no timeouts, and started off the drive by throwing short underneath passes. 11 yards to Clark, 9 to Peterson, 9 to Hester, and 9 more to Clark. Then with the game on the line the Bears attack changed. On a 3rd and 3 with only 49 ticks to go, Brian Griese Throws a strike to Bernard Berrian in stride. Berrian gets all the way to the Eagles 39 for a gain of 25 yards. The Bears quickly ran down the field, and spiked the ball. The next play was another big one for the Bears. Greise passed to Devin Hester for 21 more yards. Bears ran up to the 15 yard line, and spiked the ball again. Then comes the dagger. Greise floated one up in the back of the end zone, and Muhsin Muhammad out jumped Se...
Can We Give The Rookie Of The Year To Adrian Peterson Early?

Without a doubt, Adrian Peterson has stuck out head and shoulders above the rest of the the rookie class of 2007. Analysis of Baltimore Ravens/Cleveland Browns & Chicago Bears/Detroit L
2007-10-04 20:12:00
The analysis of last week's Baltimore Ravens / Cleveland Browns game and the Chicago Bears / Detroit Lions one are next-up in my extended answers to the questions I posed on Sunday. Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns (+4): My befuddlement over the line proved well-placed as the Browns handily won this game.  With QB Derek Anderson utilizing his offensive weapons, WR Braylon Edwards and TE Kellen Winslow, the Browns offense is too good to be home 'dogs to teams with lesser skills players. Fantasy implications: Receivers Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow are ready to be every-week starters at their respective positions. QB Derek Anderson at the top of the free agent pool QBs during the Bye Week Period.  After their bye?  Maybe not. Baltimore Defense?  Sell high if you can. Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (+3): The Bears have fallen.  Losing a high-scoring game to the Lions tells me the Super Bowl run ends at one.  QB Brian Griese did throw the ba...

Live Blog: Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lionesses (9/30/07)

I'm still hurting over losing to the Dallas Homos last week. It seems half of the Bears defense is out for this game and Brian Griese is (at long last) the starting quarterback. False Prophet is predicting a Lioness victory. Here is hoping that he is dead wrong. Game time in a few minutes. (I
Brian Griese will be the starting QB on Sunday.
2007-09-26 02:25:00
Of course, it won’t be the Broncos he’s starting for, but rather the Chicago Bears. The team hasn’t made an official announcement ...
