Chicago White Sox 2010 needs
2009-09-05 03:41:00 As we've gone along in this blog, everyone who had commented has had ideas about exactly what the Sox need to add, subtract or do to become the top dog again. And to everyone who idolizes Kenny Williams and will support and protect his every move, relax. We are just speculating and B.S.ing about our individual ideas. So here goes......
Chicago White Sox' Ozzie Guillen quotes former manager Jeff Torborg
2009-08-10 01:01:00 I loved seeing Ozzie Guillen's comments about his guys getting hit by pitches this year. I had a smile filled flashback to the very first spring training I was in with Jeff Torborg as our manager. ...
Congratulations Mark Buehrle and the Chicago White Sox
2009-07-24 02:32:00 Congratulations to Mark Buehrle for throwing the 18th perfect game in Major League Baseball. What an awesome accomplishment this is. It not only demonstrates the athletic talent we have in Chicago but reminds us that amazing things happen in sports and life. I am personally honored to have thrown out my very first "first pitch" to Mark Buehrle. My throw was a little high and off to the right (haha), but he caught it and said I did a good job. How excited I was to hear that I did a good job from a pitcher! Thank you to the White Sox for making one of my dreams come true. Lets not forget about how well the rest...

Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 9/1
2008-09-01 12:00:00 The Boston Red Sox entered their final game in August looking for a 3-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox and to at least stay pace with the Tampa Bay Rays. Neither of those things happened though as the White Sox got the better of the Red Sox and the Rays romped over the Baltimore ...

Ya Can't Win 'Em All...Chicago White Sox 4 Boston Red Sox 2
2008-09-01 10:49:00 Sunday in Boston's Fenway Park was beautiful, at least weather-wise. But the Red Sox could not complete the sweep of the Chicago White Sox. They were on the short end of a 4-2 score. Good pitching beat good hitting once again, as Jays pitcher Gavin Floyd survived a terrible first inning (in terms of pitch count and runners allowed on base, not runs scored) but seemed to get stronger as the innings rolled by. Here's what Tito Francona had to say... "We really worked Floyd in the first inning. Then he got comfortable and started throwing that breaking ball. He could throw it at the hitter, he could throw it away, and he could throw it for strikes. We couldn't break through."Peter here, and no, the Red Sox just couldn't get that BIG hit. They left 11 men on base, and that might be the most telling stat of all. Boston had a total of 8 hits, but none of them were clutch hits, hits that score a run or three. Timmy Wakefield had a good outing, going six innings and giving up six hits a...
Missed Opportunities Doom Red Sox In 4-2 Loss
2008-08-31 23:13:00 The Boston Red Sox left 11 runners on base failing to captalize early on Gavin Floyd as the Chicago White Sox went on to win 4-2 in front of 37,391 at Fenway Park on a gorgeous day for baseball. With the Tampa Bay Rays about to win for the 5th straight time, the Red Sox will ...

Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 8/30
2008-08-30 14:54:00 Before last night’s game versus the Chicago White Sox, the Boston Red Sox got the best news possible about Josh Beckett’s right elbow. Dice-K Spectacular In Red Sox 8-0 Win
2008-08-30 04:46:00 Daisuke Matsuzaka had arguably his best outing of the season tonight for the Boston Red Sox as he limited the Chicago White Sox to 2 hits in an 8-0 win in front of 37,755 at Fenway Park. The win for the local nine ends a brief two game losing streak at the Fens. The win will ...

Buying Low: Nick Swisher And The Chicago White Sox Hitters
2008-06-09 13:16:00 From Steve Gardner's chat at USA Today:Sparks,Nevada: Greetings Steve. From this point forward who is more productive. Konerko, Swisher, or C.Pena? Thanks Steve Gardner: I drafted Konerko and Pena on my AL LABR team and I've since traded both of them, so that shows you where I stand to some degree. Of course, I they still have some value since another owner was willing to trade for them, but I don't see how it can go much lower. Konerko seems to be heating up a little (two hits in each of last three games), but his wrist has been bothering him for a while now. With Pena, we just might have to chalk up last season as a fluke since he's back to his old ways, striking out and hitting a handful of homers. I'd be the most confident in Swisher putting up the best numbers from here on out. He's healthy and young enough that he's not set in his ways. Plus, he gets on base. He's also had at least one run scored in each of the past 7 games. I happen to agree on Swisher. As a matter of...

Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles: April 16th, 2008
2008-04-17 05:42:00 Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore OriolesThe powerful Chicago White Sox beat our Birds, 3-1, last night at the Yard. Jose Contreras who was beat up in his last start looked like an ace, only giving up a run of only four hits.On the other hand, Adam Loewen was good -- only after the first inning. Jim Thome hit a monster three-run homer to give Chicago all they needed. The White Sox bullpen shut down the Orioles, and not much else was done.Aubrey Huff drove in the only run for Baltimore last night, and after a strong start to the season, the Orioles have only won two of out their last nine games. And yes, attendance was another sad number -- only 12,080.

Chicago White Sox And Toronto Blue Jays: Early Season Statistical Flukes?
2008-04-06 15:50:00 With almost one week in the books, a look at the team leaders in stolen bases reveals one big surprise. The Toronto Blue Jays are 8th in MLB with six stolen bases. I recall reading something about the Jays deciding to run more this year, but I paid it little heed, though. Just like the Jays eschewed high school draftees after the A's did it, then drafted Travis Snyder two years ago after the A's got back into drafting high schoolers. Now the the Jays are built around defense and pitching just like the A's are. I didn't see the A's start to steal bases, so I didn't think the Jays would either. Of course, those six SBs are evenly split between two players. Alex Rios and Marcus Scutaro have three apiece. This is a first week stat that bears watching, but I don't expect it to last. Another interesting team statistic is the top OBP teams. The Chicago White Sox clock in at 4th overall at .360. The team spent the Winter trying to impro...

Chicago White Sox rally after ending Dontrelle Willis? no-hit bid, beat Det
2008-04-06 02:03:00 Dontrelle Willis was nearly unhittable. Unfortunately for the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox found other ways to get on base against him. 2008-04-04 22:30:00 For the Detroit Tigers, 2008 is starting to resemble 2003. A.J. Cabrera gets to lead off for a potent offense, and since Thome and Konerko should decline into more doubles/sacrifice fly hitters, Cabrera should get the green light. I think he could easily go 15 HR, 30 SB with an average just under .300, which are great numbers. Swisher, on the other hand, would be lucky to bat .280, though his OBP...
