Lolla '09 review: Kaiser Chiefs
2009-08-10 01:22:00 2:30 p.m. Budweiser StageThe crowd seemed to all funnel into Lolla today for Kaiser Chiefs. What had been a navigable festival 20 minutes earlier became a mad house of Kaiser fans filing in, prompting singer Ricky Wilson to call out for 50,000 beers, as long as it was "anything but Bud." The crowd was moving on its feet to favorites "Ruby" and, my favorite, "Love's Not A Competition (But I'm Winning)." Finally, Nick 'Peanut' Baines gave the crowd a tutorial on clapping, and I witnessed my first show where the crowd was actually in sync.Find tons of reviews, photos and more in our complete Lollapalooza guide...

Kaizer Chiefs v Manchester United Review
2008-07-20 03:25:00 The Second Pre-Season match has ended in a 1-1 draw with the Kaizer Chiefs.Six of the players starting today started in the Champion's League final which just shows that it was a strong line-up put out by Ferguson.Kuszczak was back from injury but unfortunetly Rio Ferdinand had to pull out just before the match with minor back spasms.Rooney almost gave us the lead with just 10 minutes gone but his freekick went flying over the bar.Vidic also had a good chance when his header went wide, if it was on target it would have been a goal. The Kaizer Chiefs went infront with a penalty given away by Gary Neville, Siphiwe Tshabalala slotted it into the back of the net. Before the penalty it has really been one way traffic by United, we didnt have loads of chances but we had most of the possession and looked comfortable.Second half and we definetly had to be a bit more urgent. We got our equaliser in the 59th minute by Chris Eagles, after his header was deflected by Jimmy Tau.Our fitness was a l...

Western Force vs Chiefs; video highlights & score
2008-05-05 18:15:00 Western Force 22 - Chiefs 21 This game was the one highlight in an otherwise pretty dismal super 14 weekend for Aussie teams, losing 3 out of 4 games. Having watched the game, no one really blew me away from the Force's point of view. It was a pretty solid team effort, especially in the last 10 minutes when it turned into wacky races rugby. The 17 year old, James O'Connor did nothing to... ....follow link for more

American actress Lindsay Lohan blasted US alcohol industry chiefs
2008-05-03 16:43:00 American actress Lindsay Lohan blasted US alcohol industry chiefs for exploiting her infamous DUI mugshot for their advert.Lohan, who had been arrested twice for DUI last year, was prominently featured on Friday in an advertisement attacking legislation for devices that measure a driver’s blood alcohol level before their vehicle can start. The full-page black-and-white ad appeared in USA Today and was paid for by the American Beverage Institute, a trade group that supports the interests of the alcohol industry. The ad reads "Ignition interlocks are a good idea for" above Lohan’s mug shot from her July 24, 2007 arrest and "But a bad idea for us" above smaller photos of people drinking. Lohan’s lawyer, Blair Berk, has slammed the advert and the paper’s bosses as "idiotic". "USA Today is idiotic for running such an irresponsible advertisement, suggesting that drinking and driving is some kind of American ’tradition’...

The Chiefs Are HUGE Draft Day Winners
2008-04-29 02:19:00 As I watched the NFL Draft the past two days, I just hoped that the Chiefs would bring in someone that would make the Jared Allen trade worth while. I was maybe one of the only Chiefs fans not happy with the trade, and while I still am not 100 percent happy with the move, I definitely can live with it now.First RoundIf you have to give up a great defensive player in Jared Allen, no doubt getting the best defensive player in the draft is worth it and thats what the Chiefs got in Glenn Dorsey. Taught under the tenacious coaching of Bo Pelini, Dorsey is a guy that can just flat out push over offensive linemen. He will definitely be the anchor of the Chiefs defense for years to come. Then with their second first round pick they got the guy many mock drafts were predicting the Chiefs would pick at #5 in Branden Albert. Both guys will start day one for the Chiefs.Second RoundWith Ty Law gone and Patrick Surtain getting up their in age, the Chiefs needed a corner and they got a first round...

NFL Draft Recap: Chiefs Draft's Biggest Winners, Rams Biggest Loser
2008-04-28 07:09:00 I?m a fan of the new streamlined NFL draft. Thanks to the new time limit, I was able to watch the entire first round while still sober.Which, I have discovered, makes it much easier to report on the draft after that fact. There?s no good way to judge a draft the day after it happens. None of us know how these players are going to turn out. Sometimes the worst picks on draft day end up being the best picks on game day.But like our contemporaries over at ESPN (and in every sports section of every newspaper at every newsstand tomorrow morning), that's not going to stop me from jumping the gun and declaring the winners and losers of draft weekend. Click here for the rest of the article...
Chiefs vs Reds; review & video highlights
2008-04-27 17:53:00 Chiefs 32 - Reds 20. The Reds seemed to come into this game thinking they could out-run the Chiefs and at half time the approach seemed to have blown up on them, as they went into the sheds 3 tries to nil down. But the game got a real shot in the arse when the reds came out and ran in 3 tries of their own to give the hosts a scare at 25-20. Luaki's intercept try finally putting the game to... ....follow link for more

Joint Chiefs Preparing to Attack Iran
2008-04-26 00:03:00 washingtonpost.com The nation's top military officer said today that the Pentagon is planning for "potential military courses of action" against Iran, criticizing what he called the Tehran government's "increasingly lethal and malign influence" in Iraq. Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said a conflict with Iran would be "extremely stressing" but not impossible for U.S. forces, pointing specifically to reserve capabilities in the Navy and Air Force. "It would be a mistake to think that we are out of combat capability," he said at a Pentagon news conference. Still, Mullen made clear that he prefers a diplomatic solution to the tensions with Iran and does not foresee any imminent military action. "I have no expectations that we're going to get into a conflict with Iran in the immediate future," he said.

Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Herm Edwards: "You'd have to ask Tampa&q
2008-03-26 01:59:00 Former Bucs Defensive Backs Coach and current Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Herm Edwards, has called out his former employer, well, in a way.. When asked about the Bucs (and Browns) abilities to sign C Jeff Faine (and K Josh Brown) nano-seconds after Free Agency began, Edwards had the following to say: "You'd have to ask Tampa," Edwards said. "I don't know what Tampa did. There were probably some deals done before (the start of the league year)," Edwards said. "We didn't cheat. We abided by the rules. That's how you're supposed to do it, and that's what we did" - KansasCity.com All I can say is this: Tons of teams do it, Herm more-than-likely did it when he jumped from the Jets to the Chiefs. Also, reports have stated that the Bucs called Faine at exactly 12:01AM to talk contracts. I mean knowing Herm and his clock management skills, he probably waited until after lunch the following day to extend a feeler out to Faine that the Chiefs were interested. By then, Faine ...

2008-03-09 09:15:00 From The Times March 6, 2008"London?s ambition to hold the first car-free Olympics in 2012 is being undermined by the International Olympic Committee?s demand for more than 3,000 chauffeur-driven cars for dignitaries, officials and corporate sponsors. These cars will have access to a network of dedicated lanes, which will be closed to other traffic for up to two months. Up to 3,000 sets of traffic lights will also be adjusted to ensure that the IOC?s fleet has fast access to all venues. Those whom the IOC insists need cars, in addition to receiving free access to public transport, include the 110 IOC members, 400 presidents and secretary-generals from the Olympic committees of the 200 competing nations and 450 senior executives from corporate sponsors.
