His childhood memories
2008-05-22 19:20:00 My dear friend N.American Princess "who is actually a sweet and original Egyptian Princess" reminded of something I wanted to write about from two weeks ago , again the Lebanese issue made me forget it. Gamal Mubarak made an appearance in the National Egyptian TV on its first channel in the political pro- regime talk show "Honestly" {Of course nothing honest in this show from the beginning till the ending}. As usual he was wearing his lucky blue shirt "may be he wears for fear of envy !!???" and was speaking with all enthusiasm about our wars with Israel;the TV show was during the celebrations of Sinai Liberation and its title was about Youth and Liberation ..so it was natural thing to find young Gamal Mubarak who crossed the 40 years old and did not serve his military service for some mysterious reasons speaking about the wars !! Anyhow I did not stop at what they were saying except one thing ; the Childhood war memories of Mr.Gamal Mubarak in...
Childhood Memories
2008-05-20 01:17:00 When my oldest brother & I were growing up, we didn’t get to have many sugar cereals. Often, it was one of those puffed wheat jobs that needed 3 tablespoons of sugar to make it taste good TO A KID. (Stop rolling your eyes, mom!) But one of the cereals I do remember us having, ...
Childhood Memories
2008-04-06 21:18:00 One of the things I love hearing about is LaShawn’s childhood memories. What she did when she was a kid. She loves to hear about my childhood as well. Why? Because we didn’t grow up together. Things like the fact that she played soccer, although she doesn’t have any soccer trophies to my knowledge, or the fact that I was a piano player since first grade. Then again, we’ve been friends for 20 years now, and frankly, you know you’re friends for 20 years when you throw up and your friend doesn’t even flinch at it any more. Gross example, but you get my drift. This post was created by Charity @ Gothic Peach. Childhood Memories

Overcoming My Bitter Childhood Memories
2008-03-17 12:30:00 When I was sixteen years old, I told my parents that I didn't want anything to do with God. I didn't want to serve a God that would allow me to experience what I had been forced to grow up with. I was at the peak of rebellion and bitterness because of my tragic upbringing. My parents had adopted me three years earlier when I was thirteen. Before my adoption, I was brought up by a single father. My mother had left before I was even old enough to remember what she looked like. My dad was a heavy drinker and often very violent. He would beat me and make fun of me. To this day, I have scars on my body as a result of what he did to me.A Struggle with Bitterness and HateFollowing my adoption, I grew to resent my family situation. I looked back on my childhood with contempt and bitterness. I despised the experiences that I was forced to suffer through. Why would a loving God let an innocent child experience such brutality and mistreatment? What had I done as a child to deserve ...

Childhood Memories: A Night With The Monsters
2008-02-12 12:12:00 As I have been reading through Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, I have been overwhelmingly amazed at the immense horrors that she faced as a child growing up in the Middle East. Yet she doesn't dwell on the issues seeking pity. She uses them as an accellerant to propel the truth about Islam and the culture she was forced to be brought up in. Her response to her childhood and background is inspiring and although my childhood experiences don't quite compare to what this woman had to live through, I have decided to share some of them in an effort to do exactly what Ali has done. Promote the truth. The truth that I wish to promote with my childhood stories is a simple yet too often rejected one: God is good regardless of our troubled backgrounds or emotional scars. When I was a child, I experienced some pretty crazy times while I lived with my father. He did a few things while raising me that normal people would consider less than orthodox. One night around midnight, he staggered into ...

Childhood memories: Sophie Ellis-Bextor naked
2008-01-30 13:19:00 UK charity The Children's Society has launched a campaign to gather "hundreds and thousands of childhood memories that will contribute the Good Childhood Inquiry, the UK’s first independent inquiry into what makes a good childhood. This will help us understand how to make childhood better today."Fair enough, but to promote the campaign the charity has photographed elfin pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor naked in a tonne of multi-coloured 'hundreds and thousands' sprinkles (pictured).Does this strike anyone else as slightly inappropriate? I assume the charity would want to associate childhood with wholesomeness and innocence – not virtues that the promotional photos really convey to me.I'm not complaining too strongly, mind.

Do you Remember?
2008-01-10 04:36:00 Those little things from your childhood? When I was about three or four I remembered having a breakfast bar with bar stools that my brother and I loved playing on. As the years went by and we kept moving the stools got destroyed and we never lived in a place with a proper bar area. ...

Vacation Stories: Sharing Childhood Memories
2007-07-15 18:16:00 (I am still waiting on pictures from the in laws from our vacation. When I get those, I will have a ton of fun stories to share. Everything from chicken hats to fake bears)One of my favorite things about visiting small town Iowa for our family vacation was getting to see a lot of Hubby's childhood memories. He showed me the house that he grew up in, the road that he and his grandpa used to ride their bikes to town, the house that his grandparents lived in, and the park he used to play at where his grandpa had once built most of the play structures. He drove us through the little town and pointed out his favorite place to get whole fried catfish and the Happy Joes where they have his favorite pizza. Our kids played in the corn fields like he had done so many years ago. Unfortunately, my nephew had an allergic reaction to something that was sprayed on the corn, but it was slight and the doctor gave him some eye drops and he was fine. I think it is really neat to see where my husband ...
First childhood memories
2007-05-26 20:31:00 As I work on my first novel I have been reading several books on how to write. I just finished reading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and so far can say this is the most inspirational and instructional narrative yet. Perhaps, because she is an active teacher of writing rather just a novelist who tells how they do it, I feel I have received more practical advise on filling out my characters and their dialogue from her advice than any of the others. I now have to sit and let that happen; sit with an empty writing tablet and let my characters tell me who they are and what their dreams and aspirations are, and then pull from my experiences as I write the book. Talking of the book I am 83 pages into it already and have a goal of reaching at least 100 over this long Memorial Day weekend.Lamott?s strategy to help the creative juices flow is to start by going back into you earliest memories and write about them. I guess it helps you see how your life was formulated so I am going to give that a...

The Wednesday Witch (and other childhood memories)
2007-05-17 19:33:00 I know it’s not Wednesday; I know I missed Weirdly Wednesday again. I spent the entire day frying in the sun watching youngsters run, leap, jump, heave and (as expected) shriek, scream, yell, giggle, and shout. In other words, I was at a track and field day. This morning, as if controlled by magic myself, I ...

Childhood memories and a fat-free snack
2006-07-21 06:37:00 It is a common notion, that more the oil more the taste, and vice versa. This is one thing that totally defies the notion. Sukha Bhel ! Bhel was the ultimate treat in school days. There used to be this bhel wala with his cart and a glass box mounted on top of the cart. He used to serve bhel puri, sev puri and pani puri like any other bhel wala. This 'bhaiyya' used to stand right opposite my balcony in Wadala, and that wouldn't make life easier for me. My grandparents wouldn't allow me to eat street food and it required many many days of excellent behaviour to convince them to let me indulge in that tangy treat. In the glass box, there used to be stacks of fresh kurmura (puffed rice), another stack of sev, 3 steel dabbas filled with green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and the last one with red hot spicy chutney. The walls of the box would be lined with tomatoes, boiled potatoes and in the mango season-raw mangoes. Onions and coriander, finely chopped would fill another big bowl....
