Sermons On Worship
2008-08-26 22:35:00
We completed a three-part series on worship this past Sunday at Laurel Canyon.  In the age of so-called “worship wars,” the answer continues to be “back to the Bible.”  That was our goal throughout this series. Part 1: “Come Into His Presence”: Preparing For Worship We all know what it means to prepare.  Preparation played a vital ...
Nights of extreme Stupidity in Christchurch Drug Policy
2008-06-27 23:00:00
The entire alcohol debate is gravely flawed with a suspension of any analysis around 'alcohol' being a drug. I hear it labeled so in pejorative terms by people who in so doing believe that somehow that justifies there prejudices to all drugs. Yet there in the middle of this see "Nights of extreme in Christchurch" [http://www.stuff.co.nz/print/4-599551a19743.html ] we have policeman attributing more moderate behaviors associated with the time when raves fueled by Ecstasy occurred describing "E" as a 'happy drug'.And there lies the clue. It is so obvious to anyone who looks at what drives the behavioral outcomes, the need to be part of something, to bond... "Until we accept that our national drug policy is corrupted by the idea there is 'evil vs good' drugs we never get a handle on this."Mere possession of "Ecstasy" [MDMA] was elevated to a Class A schedule (which to a young person means 'must be really excellent') with life in prison, comparable to murder. Yet, in the London p...

Christchurch is the second largest city in the country after Auckland, however with ...
Exploring New Zealand in a Car
2007-12-11 14:11:00
One of the most adventurous yet convenient way to discover a new place is to go driving. All you need is to be a legitimate driver, i.e. one with a legitimate driving licence from your own country, and to have a generally good sense of direction. And of course before you venture into the unknown, make sure you have a good road map, a good car, a good co-pilot and of course a good knowledge that the roads you are going to drive on are actually drivable. If you were to travel in New Zealand, you would have no problems with driving on good roads. New Zealand's tourist routes are of a generally high standard and the main roads are sealed. All roads, including those in rural locations, are signposted. It is a great country for driving. Traffic is generally light, roads are well-maintained and the passing scenery makes every kilometre worthwhile. For places to stay, you can always check out reasonably-priced accommodations in the cities that you are planning to visit on your road trip. Cit...

Can You Spot What?s So Funny?
2007-11-26 09:34:00
Today I was indulging in my favorite pastime when arriving in a new place, which is getting lost while walking aimlessly around looking at things! I just flew into Christchurch, by the way. Anyway, so I was walking down this street and I saw something which I found really funny (maybe it’s just me, though?) ...

Christchurch Gate, Canterbury
2007-08-22 22:00:00
Christchurch Gate (built in 1517) is the main entrance to the cathedral precincts.Buttermarket Square is immediately in front of Christchurch Gate. From the Square are streets such as Mercery Lane - a narrow medieval street with overhanging buildings. The bronze figure of Christ in the centre is a recent addition, a bronze figure installed in 1991 replacing a figure of Christ destroyed in 1642 by Parliamentarians. The elaborate carvings and shields are dedicated to the last patron of the Abbey, Prince Arthur, brother to Henry VIII. Prince Arthur died in 1502, leaving the way to his younger brother, Henry VIII to succeed as King of England.

Jay Day Christchurch
2007-05-10 06:40:00
The following video as featured on the front page of the PRESS ONLINE (http://www.press.co.nz) captures one videophiles insight on J-Day. There is of course, another story.. that of the Police conduct in and around both Cathedral Square and Latimer Square where they furtively challenged folk leaving the area (no real idea if they were just passing through or were actually participants) and asking to search them. This street side activity is part of Superintendent Sandra Manderson's boost in community policing' anti-crime initiative. It went unreported in mainstream media that civil-right violations were occurring. Police were making the rules up as they went. No wonder young folk have contempt for police. More photo's (the police didnt want you to see) and vid's to follow. http://www.danieltobin.com/jayd-ay/small.html--Blair Andersonph (643) 389 4065 cell 027 265 7219
