Christopher Hitchens: Barack Obama is no Martin Luther King
2008-04-08 23:46:00 The so-called black leaders who Barack Obama used to acquire his black political identity, and from whom he does not distance, are certainly no disciples of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They are races hustlers. Christopher Hitchens, makes a bold assertion, “Today, the national civil rights pulpit is largely occupied by second-rate shakedown artists:” Further, Hitchens makes it stick. BO may claim to transcend race, but his friends certainly do not. Technorati Tags: Obama

Christopher Hitchens: Hillary Clinton Is Soppy and Bitchy
2008-04-07 07:18:00 Sen. Hillary Clinton is cold and calculating; I wouldn't be surprised if she's able to regulate her heart beat. Christopher Hitchens Corrects Andrew Sullivan's Grammar: Different From
2008-04-06 04:17:00 One of my biggest pet peeves is when people use the phrase "different than" rather than "different from." Hillary's Mask Of Lies
2008-04-01 18:33:00 This is why I love about hirsute now hairless atheist Christopher Hitchens (left). There are two kinds of deliberate and premeditated deceit, commonly known as suggestio falsi and suppressio veri. (Neither of them is covered by the additionally lying claim of having "misspoken.") The first involves what seems to be most obvious in the present case: the putting forward of a bogus or misleading account of events. But the second, and often the more serious, means that the liar in question has also attempted to bury or to obscure something that actually is true. Christopher Hitchens SlateExecutive summary: Hillary's insistence on nothing standing in the way of her disasterous health care BS during Bill's first term killed more than 250,000 Bosnians: Taking the advice of Al Gore and National Security Advisor Tony Lake, Bill agreed to a proposal to bomb Serbian military positions while helping the Muslims acquire weapons to defend themselves?the fulfillment of a pledge he had made during...

Christopher Hitchens' identity crisis
2008-03-28 05:54:00 Recent online discussions about Obama and the race factor, prompted me to revisit a Hitchens column ,"identity crisis", that appeared in Slate in January.Hitchens' objections to placing "emphasis on shade" makes it ironic that he sort of does. In a reference to Obama he says - "And why is a man with a white mother considered to be "black," anyway?"That's hardly the point. The point is that Obama has chosen to articulate himself as African-American. Nor incidentally is Obama's African-American identity easily pigeonholed, despite Hitchens' best efforts with Trinity United - "a sub-standard and shade oriented place."Then we we get this:"Last week happened to be the week that the nation of Kenya—birthplace of Obama's father—was convulsed by a political war that contained ghastly overtones of violent and sadistic tribalism. It would sound as absurd to a Kenyan to hear praise for a black candidate as it would sound to most of my European readers to hear a recommendation of a "g...

2008-03-05 19:04:00 An obviously hung over Christopher Hitchens surfaces on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" this a.m. on top of his game. Any guy who submits to full-body waxing (sac, back & crack) isn't going to let a mere hangover cramp his acerbic style. It's as bad as we thought it was going to be.""She would do anything, she wouldn't mind running as George Wallace if it would get her the nomination."Hitchens on Obama: "I repeatedly call him a shallow and flaky candidate. I thought he was an incredibly successful shallow and flaky candidate." He goes off on Obama's Chicago church but keep in mind atheist Hitchens's anti-organized religion books and articles. Hitchens: To Hell With The Archbishop of Canterbury
2008-02-12 01:26:00 Christopher Hitchens has a great piece in Slate about the ridiculous endorsement of Sharia law by the archbishop of Canterbury.

Hitchens - A Rebuttal
2007-12-06 08:28:00 Christopher Hitchens has written a masterpiece of idiocy and foolishness on The Slate. This shows the true triumph of distorted ideas and baseless convictions in the face of evidence, logic or scholarship. I haven't laughed so much in ages. In fact, since I really don't like Chanukah, this is probably the best thing that has happened all week! This rebuttal of what Christopher Hitchens says is only scratching the surface of his mistakes and errors. But I have to leave room for others as well. The basis of his arguments is that Chanukah celebrates the triumph of theocratic darkness against the enlightenment of Greek philosophy and science. He obviously didn't go to cheder, or to history class, because this is the opposite of what historical records show.Although there are claims that Alexander the Great was a student of Aristotle and a philosopher in his own right, no such claims are extended to Antiochus IV Epiphanes. He was the first king to declare himself to be a god, and was co...

Wax And Pain
2007-11-08 14:56:00 NYDN Rush & Molloy: Be thankful Graydon Carter isn't your boss. The Vanity Fair honcho ordered columnist Christopher Hitchens to get a makeover for the October issue, after which Hitchens felt more like a POW than well-kempt gentleman. The Brit endured six hours of dental rejuvenation and some manscaping thanks to a "sack, back and crack" wax. Says Hitchens: "The combined effect was like being tortured for information you do not possess." I wrote about this before. I thought the hirsute Hitchens volunteered for this tour of duty. Perhaps they sprung the waxing on him AFTER he got to the spa. Maybe he was characteristically drunk. It hurts. Remember Steve Carell in "40-Year-Old Virgin"? Part One of Hitchens's spa torture tactics here. Silver lining: the pain wanes straight away. It's all hype. Here's the self-destructive Hitchens smoking in the shower. Note the missing chest hair. BTW I adore the fabulously talented Christopher Hitchens. And prefer hairless men...

Christopher Hitchens : Militant Atheist?
2007-10-17 21:11:00 ?Myers says Hitchens wasn't noticeably drunk, so he doesn't have his usual excuse for inexcusable behavior, such as in this previous instance. In any event, such antics are the logical extension of his increasingly warlike thought. This ex-Trotskyist, whose support for militant secularism led him to idolize the founder and first commander of the Red Army, has gone so over the top with his crusade against all religion that he has come to advocate wiping out entire populations. "Demolish it!" he said, when asked about Iran ? with apparently no more moral compunctions about the slaughter of the innocent than one might normally exhibit toward a swarm of midges.??Hitchens is quite clearly marketing himself as a contemporary Robert Ingersoll, the spokesman for atheism and secularism in the English-speaking world, although, clearly, looking at the bestseller list, he has a lot of competition for that title. If someone with that kind of a public platform should use his status to spread an...

2007-10-12 18:02:00 (Return to Part 1)BOB ANDELMAN: What are you especially glad to be done with from that year?A.J. JACOBS: Well, it was a very intense year so it was hard to, for instance, completely cut out lying, to be totally honest, all the time. It?s a radical life change. And I think it?s good not to. I think I learned that I should lie less. But there were times where it was just exhausting because I have a three-year-old kid, and you can?t tell him, ?Uh, sorry, the TV?s broken?. You have to say, ?No, you can?t watch TV because I don?t want you to,? and so there?s screaming, there?s crying, and he gets upset too.ANDELMAN: I think at one point he wanted a bagel, and you tried to convince him it was an English muffin. Christopher Hitchens: Godless And Hairless
2007-10-09 18:41:00 Atheist Mother Teresa critic, ink-stained wretch, boozer, and shower smoker Christopher Hitchens undergoes the equivalent of male childbirth as he gets that Devilish hair waxed from his "back, crack, and sack." [NY Post]Formerly hirsute now hairless Hitchens hoisted his pitchfork as the first guest on liberal Air America's new anti-organized religion talk radio show, Freethought Radio.Rush Limbaugh's trademark bellowing that he's "talent on loan from God," countered by Freethought's opening line: "Hello all you godless infidels, out-of-the-closet atheists and happy heathens!"Bible-thumping Christians don't seem too wacked out about the show. Personally I detest organized religion. It's corrupt mind control and a life crutch for the teeming, clueless, hypocritical masses too weak to think for themselves. 2007-10-05 02:36:00 Joining the young and passionate demonstrators outside the office of a certain Washington military attaché last week (and there was I, having thought that my "demo" days were over) helped me to settle one trivial question. I could have made a better debate of it than Hitchens and that’s saying something. This was basic stuff. I’ve read ‘God is not great’ and it’s a brilliant book. Hitchens just lost the plot in this one. I disagree with much of what Hitchens says on politics for example but he’s normally very assured in this kind of debate and rarely gets spanked like this. Am I being too harsh on him? Maybe I expected too much. It’s not that he ‘lost’ the debate, it’s just that he missed every opportunity to make a good case.
