The article focused on Nardelli’s displeasure for wind noise levels on the convertible. Personally, I believe Project D will focus on the Sebring exterior design, interior and convertible top. The Chrysler Sebring exterior has been controversial ever since it was unveiled. The auto industry felt Chrysler threw in every possible design cue into the Sebring design which resulted in a very awkward design. Can Project D salvage the Sebring by ?simplifying? the exterior of the Sebring? Maybe smooth out the sides (ex. 300C) or redesign the front-end. All three tops will actually use the same stowing mechanism; instead of engineering a traditional soft top in addition to the hardtop, the supplier of the top, Karmann, simply skins the same three-piece frame as the hardtop uses in cloth or vinyl for those tops. So instead of saving trunk space with a more compact folding soft top, all three tops take equal-sized bites of the trunk space. Like all folding hardtops, it is a big bite, but Chrysler is quite proud that the Sebring can still stow two golf bags with the top folded away.
