Top Agenda of the Emergent Church: Social Gospel!
2008-09-28 17:29:00 -By Don Boys, Ph.D. Emergent Church leaders are into the social gospel of the early 1920s, a failure and departure from the Word now as then. One of the EC leaders admitted that the EC is a protest movement, so what do they protest? Many EC leaders would consider Bible-believers as Neanderthals because of our positions ...

They were credited as "Blind Roosevelt Graves and Brother". Their first recordings were made in 1929 for Paramount Records. Pagan Practices Taught by Emergent Church!
2008-09-27 17:25:00 -By Don Boys, Ph.D. God warns us in Jer. 10:2, ?Learn not the way of the heathen,? but heathenism is exactly what EC leaders are teaching. The Emergent Church Runs Away from the Bible!

What is Emerging from the Emergent Church?

2008-09-07 20:41:00 Sarah Palin's Church (Wasilla Bible Church) Hosts Anti-Gay Conversion Conference According to this Associated Press story, the church of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is hosting a kind of conference devoted to the "conversion of Gays" -- no kidding. Here's the AP text: ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) ? Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer. "You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed since she was a child. Palin's conservative Christian views have energized that part of the GOP electorate, which was lukewarm to John McCain's candidacy before he named her as his vice presidential choice. She is staunchly anti-abortion, opposing exceptions for rape and incest, and opposes gay marriage and spousal rights for gay couples. As I...

Freeport and the Baptist church
2008-08-29 04:59:00 Location : The US Gulf when I heard for the first time that we were bound for Freeport, I had wild thoughts of waterskying in the Bahamas. Turns out that there is a Freeport in Texas as well. Its not somethig that really appeals at first glance. Searching for places of intrest only reveals one beach out there over which surf breaks only when hit by a grade three cyclone. which is coming by the way. But unless the high winds start blowing them away, the place is being ruled by huge gangs of Mosquitoes. I read in a Louis Lamour book that mosquitoes in Texas can actually kill a horse. The author might have been thinking of Freeport when he wrote that. But then this post is not about freeport, but about Religion. With every post I try to learn something new and for this post I am going to read something about the Baptist Church. The reason I'm reading up on the Baptist structure is because of the Seaman's centre that really is one of the best things going for the town. The places is...

Black ribbons draped across two empty chairs in the second row of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Keller, where a mother and daughter sat side by side during church services each week. The Church is Afraid to speak of Domestic Violence!
2008-08-14 14:26:00 I have to say at times I get so burned out speaking of this subject - emotional abuse, verbal abuse and domestic violence. It seems no one listens, and no one hears except for the victims themselves! The victims are WHOM I'm addressing most of the time. I want to make sure they feel heard, and I want them to feel they are NOT alone and shame is NOT something that everyone uses to HUSH them up! I feel at times people that see people like myself that speak about abuse as some joke, and we are not be taken seriously. I dare to speak of something that is taboo, and since I speak so much of it I must have a one track mind. Everything in my world must be seen as abusive. Its strange to me how they can't see that some people are able to view things, and realize the difference.People speak of the healing of faith, and how God can bring healing and peace. The difference between God and those that speak of it at times seems to be that when we do receive healing and peace we are still seen a...
Domestic Abuse within the Church - When Men Hurt Their Own
2008-08-13 14:56:00 I found an interesting set of articles on The Hope Blog. From the comments after a number of entries she made it sounds like she is placing together a book from the prospective of a women dealing with domestic violence. The ring of horror of their pastor's attitude is what people need to understand about this aspect. YES this is a woman's prospective about domestic violence within the church, and her life dealing with a controlling husband. I believe it happens to both genders, but the more information and stories that get out there the better I believe.Inherit the Wind: When Men Hurt Their Own Part OneInherit the Wind: When Men Hurt Their Own Part TwoInherit the Wind: WHen Men Hurt Their Own Part ThreeThe Final Installment the author states is coming SOON!The responses are very good to this series, and of course you have to have some bad ones as well.By the way, according to the account in Genesis, Abraham sent his wife to be in the harem of the Egyptian Pharaoh.Yet, Sarah...

2008-08-09 17:32:00 LORD TEBBIT, a real Conservative, not a Nu-tory, writes in the Daily Mail on 08th August 2008'Who am I to criticise the Archbishop of Canterbury on the matters of theology, doctrine or what the scriptures mean? If the politicians or bishops offer confident, reasonable leadership, we follow them. If they look lost, confused and out of touch, we leave in droves. Dr Rowan Williams is a decent, likeable and intelligent man. But over homosexuality, he seems to be in a terrible muddle, saying different things to different people. 2008-08-01 19:55:00 ?All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you.?--Gandalf from Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. TolkienHow do we decide what to do with the time given to us? Far too often, we take the time given us for granted and behave as though we have all the time in the world to do the things we should do, and what we hope to do. Many times we are dealt a hand that leads us on a path we never thought we would take, or maybe even more correctly, a path we never wanted to take. So, the things we hoped for in life, dreamed of in life never happen, or sometimes begin and are ended for reasons we can not understand, and often find difficult to accept and live with. When our dreams are shattered, when the carpet is pulled out from under us we far too often have a hard time letting go and moving on. So, what do we do, and how do we cope?We can take one of two paths when we are faced with obstacles in our life path. First, we can weep, and moan and groan, and throw ourselves one b...

You can?t sue a church because you find things they do emotionally disturbi

IT IS TIME TO BEGIN SPEAKING: The Church and Domestic Violence
2008-06-25 10:21:00 Kimberly B. George of Faith and Gender wrote a paper about domestic violence. I have to say a major KUDOS to her and her voice and gift for writing this peice! The number of American soldiers killed in Iraq almost equals the number of women who have been killed on American soil by husbands and boyfriends over the same span of time. Since 2003, just over 4000 American soldiers have been killed in the war. Approximately 6000 women have been killed on the homeland (1).Like the soldiers killed in battle, these deaths have left children without parents, fathers without daughters, brothers without sisters. Children witnessing domestic violence are suffering posttraumatic stress disorders. Many of the boys who witness the violence of their fathers will themselves grow up to physically, emotionally, or verbally abuse their partners. I long for Christian communities to pay more attention. YIKES I didn't even realize that! MORE people have been killed by domestic violence than in the war so...

News of the "wedding" emerged days before a crucial summit of the Anglican Church's conservative bishops and archbishops, who are threatening to split the worldwide Church over the issue of homosexual clergy.Although some liberal clergy have carried out "blessing ceremonies" for homosexual couples in the past, this is the first time a vicar has ...

Church?s Approach to Domestic Violence Raises Eyebrows
2008-06-11 09:34:00 Chicago Public Radio had a article about a church there that is working with violent men.On the second-floor of St. Pius V, a Catholic church in Chicago?s Pilsen neighborhood, 22 men are winding down their weekly meeting. Facilitator Carlos López reminds the men about a verse from the New Testament book Ephesians: ?Husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.? And López turns to a stocky young man who?s attending for the first time.LOPEZ: Hay algunas reacciones? Qué dices acerca de esta nueva experiencia? The man says last year he and his wife had a fight in which she provoked him and he blacked out. He quickly fast-forwards to sleepless nights this year when he suspected she was having an affair. But some other men in the circle ask him to rewind to that blackout. The young man eventually admits he was choking his wife. López calls that disclosure a step toward taking responsibility for the abuse.LOPEZ: He was able to break denial. And t...

Long overdue, Church is finally headed to DL for Mets
2008-06-10 15:21:00 In a long overdue move, right fielder Ryan ChurchRyan Church is headed to the DL today because of lingering effects from his most recent concussion. The DL stint is retroactive to last Friday and comes after Church was re-examined by a neurologist in New York Monday. Church had been given the weekend off after complaining of pressure in his head. The New York Mets said Church did not show any of the major symptoms of post-concussion syndrome in yesterday's exam, but the club decided to put him on the DL anyway. The Mets also said Church would not be allowed to play again until he is entirely symptom-free. Monday's move caps a convoluted and confusing situation that began after Church suffered the concussion - his second in three months - in a May 20 collision with the knee of Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar. Church should have gone on the DL then, but he talked the Mets into letting him pinch-hit just days after the concussion and convinced them to let him return to the lineup...

Mets Misplayed Church
2008-06-10 03:02:00 The Mets have finally placed Ryan Church on the DL with post concussion syndrome. To start the season many said "where would this team be without Church" and after the Padres series we might be seeing where this club is at. But the Mets look bad in all of this, after his second concussion in a few months they look like they were willing to trade wins for a players well being. It should be an automatic trip to the DL after the first concussion. It was quite obvious that Church wasn't 100% in the last game he played in and it shouldn't have taken this long for the team to finally make a move. I don't blame Church in fact I like his gritty attitude, it's the club who should step in and act responsibly because in the long run that's whats best for the team. Don't expect to see any new faces to replace him, they'll probably stick with the same bench and add Alou....Church suffered his second concussion in 11 weeks in a collision with Atlanta’s Yunel Escobar on May 20.
