I was from the low, flat suburbs, and the height fascinated me. The light was a hollow grey, if there can be a colour that is hollow, or rather it was a wan shade of grey that hollowed out all forms that dipped away from it. We set up a six foot x three foot table and added some height on both sides to give it the appearance of a valley. We definitely wanted to use my pieces from "A Christmas Story" (all except this year's pieces, which don't count in my opinion, because they weren't really in the movie!), so we decided to integrate them into the display. By the time we were done, we had unpacked about 24 buildings....there was no way they were going to fit, especially since we were now adding 2 cobblestone roads and 2 white fences.We chose our 4 anchor pieces: Ralphie's house, in the upper left corner. 2007-10-22 15:59:00 Once upon a time, the only writing I did related to studious subjects. It amazes me that I burned the candle at both ends during this time; student by day, cyber slut by night (or at uni lunch breaks). I briefly entertained the idea of writing between the ages of nineteen and twenty, and hammered away many pages on an Olivetti (before switching to an electric typewriter). I’ve gone through three stages, to finally metamorphose as a part-time fiction writer. The tweenie stage, just before the final stage in my metamorphosis, saw me write traditional essays or college papers; Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, Freudian sexuality, anatomical functions, among other things. I also dissected: twenty (I lost count) rats, one rabbit, two cane toads, and the occasional cadaver (which became a regular four lab a week reality in my second year). Everything during that time, every written morsel, was finite or based on asserted or proven principles: Freud’s treatises on oral fixations to the stages...
