2008-03-13 05:54:00 Después de tanto tiempo creo que aún no he sido capaz de definir correctamente mi personaje en este escenario. Tengo la sensación de que me falta gracia para ser bufón, hondura para ser poeta y coherencia para ser narrador. Confío en que algún día sabré por fin hacia donde llevar al barón rojo. A veces, después de publicar una entrada, me quedo esperando sus comentarios como quien mira el techo de una habitación de hotel, ensimismado y vacío. No sé muy bien lo que espero, es un momento de soledad e incertidumbre hasta que llega el primer comentario. A uno le gustaría la participación acalorada: un brainstorming atolondrado y crítico, con ataques al autor y defensas a ultranza. Pero lo que escribo tampoco da para más. Y no me quejo, de verdad que no me quejo. He de dar gracias a mis comentaristas que siempre tienen una palabra de aliento. 2008-01-19 20:45:00 During Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe's speech at the Toyota Media reception at the Detroit Auto Show last Sunday night he mentioned the company hybrid sales goal. I didn't mention it in my own report of the event because I didn't consider it all that noteworthy since it's been discussed before. Evidently some other outlets and even Toyota felt it was important and did mention the subject, mis-quoting Watanabe at the same time. In his speech, Watanabe re-stated the company's goals of offering hybrid variants of every model they sell as well as eventually reaching sales of 1 million hybrid vehicles a year. Where the Toyota Open Road blog and others erred was in the timing. They all reported that Watanabe said this would happen by 2010. 2008-01-17 21:09:00 Daimler planning to buyout McLaren? Mercedes-Benz's parent company, Daimler, is planning to buyout McLaren, a new report finds. While Daimler has yet to confirm the report, several sources are indicating that a deal has already been made between the two. The two companies have close ties, both with road cars and race cars. McLaren currently makes the SLR for Mercedes-Benz and M-B supplies McLaren's racing program with powerplants. In addition, Daimler owns 40% of McLaren. Reports of a possible buyout surfaced in August, and were rekindled again in December of last year. It was reported last year that the two companies will no longer be developing road cars together. Instead, Mercedes-Benz will use H.W.A. to develop its follow up to the SLR and McLaren is working on its own car — codenamed P11. If the deal for the other 60% of McLaren has already been inked, look for an announcement in the coming months.
