Shindo Goes To Washington: Like A Cat In The Rain
2008-06-05 11:17:00 I've been having a wonderful time in DC so far. The only drawback has been that is has been pouring rain for the past couple of days, especially during the late afternoon and evenings. The first evening, I got super drenched. Yesterday, I brought the umbrella I packed, not expecting rain, but as a contingency plan, and it didn't even protect me. I wore sneakers the day before, but chose not to yesterday more or less expecting a downpour at anytime. However, the Kenneth Cole shoes I packed weren't enough to protect my feet from the rain. I think it's safe to say they're gone. Rest in piece. I wound up making an emergency purchase. It doesn't sound like an equal exchange, Clarks for Coles, but it will have to do. Now, I need to have a shoe funeral.I've posted a bunch of photos on my Flickr page. I haven't labeled and tagged them all yet, but I'll get them all taken care of.I'll blog more of the trip later. It's definitely been an exercise in accidental tourism, but fun.

I show you these shoes, though, not so that you can exclaim over their looks, but because they're part of a new line by Clarks which claim to offer in-shoe air-conditioning for your feet. The line is called 'Unstructured', and it uses an air cooling system which allows the moist air inside your shoes (sorry) to be replaced by cool air from outside, via intake vents in the sole and mid-sole. It's not something those of us in the northern hemisphere will be needing this winter, for sure, but I guess the system could come into its own during the warm, summer months. The shoes will be available from Nordstrom and The Walking Company, as well as from Clarks stores, with prices starting from $100/ One question remains, though: why are practical shoes always so ugly? 2007-06-04 21:49:00 It seems as if Amazon and other places have changed the 'My December' cover and packaging. It looks like the album will be in a type of box set packaging. Someone at Xpress saw the booklet and mentioned that it was amazing, and that the cd was black with a silver sketching on it and at the end of the 'Thank You's Kelly signs her name at the bottom. Also theres word that someone got a copy of the album and will post their review of it soon; they aren't able to rip it because it's on a demo cd. The album will more than likely leak sooner than later. This has got to be my most anticipated album of the year by far and I cannot wait to have this cd in my hands and listen to it. The second single is most likely to be 'One Minute' which she performed at the Daytona 500 Nascar Event two months ago and it seems as if this will be another hit for Kelly. Clive recently gave a speech on the "American Idol" finale, mentioning every single "Idol" star except Clarkson. Some suspect he conveniently forgot her because of their feud.The 75-year-old owlish music mogul was tasked with speaking to the huge TV audience about the health of the "A.I" franchise and appeared to go out of his way to avoid mentioning Kelly's new single "Never Again" (which reached the Top 10 for heaven's sake!) or her forthcoming CD, "My December." Yet he somehow managed to find time to plug both Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee's new singles!
