We all know how all females fawn over the older stars in baseball and yes even the new ones that are upcoming in baseball. The Red Sox are no exception to this with young studs Jacoby Ellsbury and Clay Buchholz. We heard about about Ellsbury’s girlfriend Kelsey during the World Series parade last year but we hadn’t heard anything about Buchholz having a girlfriend. And now we have since Clay’s father Skip spilled the beans on the Karlson & McKenzie show about his girlfriend, Erica Ellyson. In John Perrotto's must-read Sunday column for Baseball Prospectus, Every Given Sunday, he follows-up on some stories that began germinating earlier this week and includes a doozy that will make the Juan Pierre/Nomar Garciaparra over younger & better players debate seem trivial.  Here are a few of the nuggets I found interesting. Amongst the names the Mets are kicking the tires on to replace/build depth following the Mosies Alou injury and Carlos Delgado hip issue are Marcus Thames and Brandon Inge of Detroit, Orioles' teammates Kevin Millar and Jay Payton and Pirates' 1B/OF Xavier Nady.  The Mets have bullpen arms to offer, preferably Scott Schoenweiss or Jorge Sosa.  Fantasy Implication:  If it is Nady, then Steve Pearce lands on every draftboard as a possible 25 HR hitter. Would the Yankees deal Melky Cabrera and an Ian Kennedy for Santana? How about Boston? Would they send a Clay Buchholz and a Jacoby Ellsbury for him? The Mets? There are few teams who could handle the paycheck you'd have to give Santana and also be able to part with key prospects."If that logic is correct, it narrows the list of suitors considerably. I like the WNST radio station and all, but Nestor really needs to give it up with the hostility. In light of the Baltimore Orioles' malaise this season, the 30-3 game, the Red Sox no-hitter are part of the ebbs and flow of baseball. It's looking like the Red Sox will opt to use 23 year-old phenom Clay Buchholz as one of the starter's in Friday's doubleheader.  In my estimation, a stellar start against the Angels could be enough for him to replace Jon Lester as the fifth starter.  Lester's last two starts have been poor; his start Tuesday against the Devil Rays will be important. Buchholz is arguably the best pitching prospect in the minors right now.  He throws in the low to mid-90s with a plus change and curveball.  He also commands those pitchers well, posting a 5.46 K/BB in the minors this year.  Another changeup master, Cole Hamels, whiffed 145 in 132 innings as a rookie.  Buchholz could be that good, though even Hamels ran into some early struggles in the bigs. Put the third-best offense in baseball behind Buchholz and you have a player that must be picked up in all leagues.  Most likely it will be just for the Friday start, but you never know.  Buchholz should p...
