While the year hasn't been as prolific or productive as I would have liked, I feel that it has been a great year in many ways. In honor of my one year aniversary, I am reposting a link to the Evan Parker live show at the 411 Club- Portland, Oregon that was first posted on here last December. This concert featured Evan Parker on saxophones, Alexander Von Schlippenbach on Piano and Paul Lytton on drums. It was recorded on mindisc by yours truly, and it is an amazing reproduction of the concert with an amazing sonic clarity that makes you feel like you are actually there. 2007-10-04 05:33:00 We first saw the aptly named Venturi Eclectic at last year's Paris Motor Show and the company has now brought one to sunny southern California. The sunny part is important since the roof is covered with photo-voltaic cells. If left parked in the sun all day it can absorb enough energy to extend the standard 30-mile range by an extra 4-5 miles. If a breeze is available the roof mounted wind turbine can purportedly add another 10 miles of range. Venturi hopes to start selling the first 200 examples of this neighborhood electric vehicle next spring for just over $30,000. This eclectic collection of clutter on my desk keeps me sane?
2007-04-24 12:14:00 I used my desk top only as a place to keep my computer monitor?there was little room of anything else. A year or so ago I purchased a flat-screen LCD monitor. I removed the humongous old monitor, exposing a vast prairie of empty desk-top?even after installing the new monitor?acres of clear desk-top were exposed. Wow! Acres & acres of clear desk-top! Before placing the new monitor on the desk, I thoroughly dusted and polished the antique desk. Then I carefully placed the new monitor?just so?in the perfect location on that vast empty space for easy viewing, and very cagily routed the necessary cables so they were nearly invisible. Of course, with all this space, I could now add the necessary accoutrements of comfort?the China, not stoneware mug & coaster (don?t want no coffee-rings on my pretty, clean and polished desk top), my little radio (so I can listen to NPR if so moved), and a lovely old oversized stoneware mug to keep my pens & pencils in easy reach.
