Songpluggers Reflect On Country Music Industry
2008-03-12 16:36:00 Songwriters write songs. Performers perform those songs. But how do they get from the songwriters to the performers? Through songpluggers like Sherrill Blackman, Dale Dodson, Tom Luteran and Abbe Nameche. Randy Rudder says they gathered at CMA one morning to discuss their craft. What, for you, are the best and/or worst aspects of the songplugger’s life? Blackman: ...

2008-02-17 15:48:00 Songwriters: Allan Clarke, Roger Cook, and Roger Greenaway What’s happening in a world when Clint Black releases only the second single of his career that wasn’t written himself and it follows the first? Clint Black Drinkin Songs and Other Logic Contemporary Country
2007-10-18 16:32:00 Drinkin Songs and Other Logic is the latest release fromContemporary Country Sensation Clint Black, and I can only thinkof one word to describe it... AWESOME!I wish it weren't the case but, it's not everyday that I get aCD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listento from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that Ijust can't force myself to get through. Not at all the case withDrinkin Songs and Other Logic. Every track is enjoyable and waspretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish. One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way allof the participating artists seem to be really enjoyingthemselves. Combine that with the overall presentation andyou've got one of Clint Black's most impressive releases ever.Overall Drinkin Songs and Other Logic is an outstanding release.Quite possibly Clint Black's best to date. Really spectacularfrom beginning to end. If you're even mildly into ContemporaryCountry music you'll enjoy this album...
Has the Opry Lowered its Membership Standards?
2007-10-08 18:45:00 Josh Turner is among my favorite contemporary radio artists and I cheered his invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. It seemed to me that his induction was more or less inevitable after the success of Your Man and its descendent singles, but in the time leading up to and now succeeding his Opry invitation, ...
Garth Brooks Returning To The Stage For One Night Only
2007-09-28 17:10:00 This is the first mention I’ve heard of it, but Jamey Johnson released an album at the end of August that’s available only as a digital download (iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.). That Lonesome Song contains 13 songs, 11 of which Johnson has some kind of writing credit on. Definitely worth checking out. The reality show Nashville ...

2007-09-27 16:59:00 Houston Press ranks the 10 worst songs to ever come out of Houston. Both Kenny Rogers and Clint Black make the list for “You Decorated My Life” and “I Raq and Roll” (which sounds horrible from the title alone). Both artists also make The Houston 100, a list of Houston’s top songs ever. The list ...

Martin Sheen Claims Bush Bullied Dixie Chicks
2007-07-06 18:05:00 I get the distinct feeling that Martin Sheen doesn’t care for George Bush after the comments he recently made over the President’s handling of the Dixie Chicks incident four years ago. “If George W. Bush were a true Christian, like he proclaims himself to be, you know what he would have done? He’d have invited them ...

Clint Black ? Killin? Time
2007-06-20 18:39:00 I consdider this one of the last great country albums. It came out in 1989 and is loaded with good songs. The title cut, “Better Man” (maybe the best breakup song of all time), “Walkin’ Away”, “Nobody’s Home” are incredible songs. Even better is the fact that Clint Black wrote or co-wrote every song on ...
Clint Black - ?The Strong One?
2007-06-13 04:37:00 On April 24th, The 9513 reported that Clint Black was back in the studio working on a new, untitled album. We still don’t have a title (or a release date) for that project–however, the first single is now at radio. “The Strong One”, a well crafted mid-tempo about the sacrifices made by women (and the ...

Review: Clint Black Misplaced His Mojo
2007-01-31 23:02:01 When Clint Black announced that he was re-recording some of his bigger love song hits for a new album, he opened himself up for critiques. We wanted to find out if there were any significant differences and why he chose to re-record the songs instead of using the originals. So we picked three songs from the new album that we felt like were the biggest hits, listened to both the old and new versions, and then played both versions on top of each other using two separate computers. “Something That We Do” There’s not as much crying from the steel guitar in the new version, and it shows. It’s also forty seconds longer, depending which previous album you’re comparing it to. “When I Said I Do” Almost identical to an earlier recording of the same song, except with less emotion and a more drawn out ending. “Like The Rain” The old version begins with rain sound effects that are absent in the new version. The new version is considerably... |
