As a result of numerous emails to me, I thought I share some simple tips on how to have clear waters for your aquarium so that you can continue to enjoy looking at your fish, and your fish are healthier and less likely to die so quick. Cloudy WaterIf you have just started your aquarium, or recently changed the gravel, added an aquarium decoration and are experiencing a grayish brownish discoloration of the aquarium water, and notice some coloration in your water, please don't panic. The gravel or decrocation was probably still "dirty". The free-floating dirt particles should settle as well as get trapped in the external filtration fairly quickly. There are a lot of commerical solutions available that can clump fine particles so that they are more likely to be trapped by the filter.A yellowish discoloration or brownish tint is typically attributed to organic mat...

2008-02-12 15:32:00 Rob and I were working with a Buyer yesterday in Chemuyil and rather than rush back to the office, we decided to take our time and stay for lunch. Here are some photos of the beach and the town of Chemuyil.I love Xcacel beach on days like this. It reminds me of Rhode Island and makes me a bit homesick.The guard shack at the entry to Xcacel. The beach is open to the public for a small donation which supports the caretakers of the property and the beach. They do not speak English but are very friendly and welcoming to visitors.Help keep our turtles safe and coming back every year! For all of our new home owners in Chemuyil, your dogs are welcome, just 10 minutes or so north, on the beaches in Akumal. Then last week happened.With this amount of volatility in the world, there's no way anybody can accurately predict what's going to happen in real estate in 2008. 2007-12-20 19:58:00 The weather has not been that great today, but I still did get to make a nice walk to causeaway. It was nice to get out of the city and just be more in the nature and closer to the ocean. I chatted for a short while with a finnish woman who was 65-70 years old and she was going to travel around in central and south america for half a year on her own! I did not have time to talk with her enough to hear her story and where she had found the courage to that at her age, but I have to say I do admire her.Today I am going to Contadora, and at least I will have a place to sleep in tonight. Hopefully also a couple of more nights, but that is a bit uncertain as everything seems to be very full now before christmas, but it will work itself out....hopefully ;)

2007-09-17 22:35:00 Our last day in Chicago, and it had to rain! still that didn't stop me, I wanted pictures of the Cloud Gate (famously known as The Bean) before heading back to Michigan, so my husband left me right there on the highway and I started running towards the bean (I'm a fast runner by the way!) I took at least 50 pictures from different angles (I love my Canon EOS!) but of course all what the sculpture could reflect was the darkness of the sky, but still I think many of the pictures I took came out pretty good. Ken asked."Maybe some crackers.""What kind of crackers?""Square ones.""How many?""Maybe a lot."Come to find out, the little stinker snarfed down at least one packet of chocolate graham crackers last weekend when we were visiting grandparents. We were camping out at my parents farm for a star gazing party complete with campfire and s'mores. Apparently, she sneaked out of the tent when everyone was sleeping and helped herself to the leftover graham crackers. I had made gluten free ones for her so she could have s'mores too, but did she get into those? Of course not.So... There goes the last two weeks of August I guess. I so wish she hadn't gotten sick, but I hope she remembers next...

The trees are just starting to turn into fall colors and this was just a fast sketch done before my family woke up. Not the usual style you are used to see from me, as this is the type of fast sketch not too many get to see.
