Stephen Colbert Interviews Tony Perkins on Gay Marriage

Stephen Colbert makes a fool of Family Research Council President Tony Perkins on the issue of Gay Marriage. I have to give Mr. Perkins credit for not only appearing, but taking a well deserved beating with a smile and a few laughs. Perkins must not be a Pentecostal where humor goes in the same vomit bag as Satan.

Scientist Finds Truthiness in the 'Colbert Bump'
2008-04-21 13:14:00
With the intense competition between the two contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination, pundits have mused over whether Hillary Clinton?s appearance on "The Colbert Report" last night will give the former First Lady a so-called "Colbert bump," a surge in popularity which the show?s host claims will accrue to any politician that appears on the show.Stephen Colbert first coined the eponymous term on his show after John Hall won in a close election to become a representative from New York in 2006 after an appearance on the "Report." Hall defeated incumbent Sue Kelly, who had declined to make an appearance on the show. Colbert himself commented on this after the election:"And how did he beat Kelly? According to the American Prospect, quote, 'Her refusal to appear on cable's popular "The Colbert Report" may have also proved somewhat costly,'" Colbert reported, adding, "Somewhat? All what. She could've gotten the 'Colbert bump,' instead she got the 'Colbert dump.'"Ever...

Hillary Clinton is hoping the Colbert bump will help propel her to victory
2008-03-28 19:15:00
Hillary Clinton is hoping the Colbert bump will help propel her to victory in Pennsylvania. The Democratic presidential candidate will make her first appearance on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report on Thursday. Both Clinton and Colbert have come to Pennsylvania ahead of the state's hard-fought Democratic primary on April 22.Clinton rival, Barack Obama, is also in Pennsylvania, but has thus far declined Colbert's invitation. Obama's wife, Michelle, will appear on the show on Tuesday.News of Clinton's visit was divulged on Monday night in Philadelphia by MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews. He blurted it out during taping of the show at the University of Pennsylvania's Zellerbach Theatre. The news was confirmed by a person close to the satirical news program, who insisted on anonymity because the date of the visit hadn't been publicly announced.Comedy shows have played a role in the presidential campaign, and good things have happened to guests on Colbert. Kudos To Stephen Colbert, But This Isn't Funny

Comedy Central, ever the pioneer in confronting U.S. politics head-on, is something I watch often. I respect it. The problem is, I haven't laughed while watching it in a long time. And that's not a negative reflection on Comedy Central, at all, but to the state of politics--the question remains why some of the most truthful commentary on the current administration and our foreign relations may only be presented to us in the context of humor.

Free Agent Deals With Colbert, K-Tou and Ekuban Become Official
2008-03-04 00:49:00
The Denver Broncos on Monday signed unrestricted free-agent wide receiver Keary Colbert and unrestricted free-agent linebacker Niko Koutouvides, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. The club also re-signed defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. Colbert (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) is a fifth-year player who joins the Broncos after spending his first four seasons with Carolina, which selected him in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft from the University of Southern California. He has totaled 109 receptions for 1,424 yards (13.1 avg.) with seven touchdowns in 55 career regular-season games (42 starts) while adding three catches for 40 yards (13.3 avg.) in three career playoff contests (all starts). The 25-year-old started 31 of his first 32 career games played and established Carolina franchise rookie records as well as career highs for receptions (47), receiving yards (754) and receiving touchdowns (5) in 2004. He owns tw...

Broncos Sign Colbert, Bring Back Ekuban
2008-03-02 10:26:00
The Broncos have made their first moves in Free Agency, bringing in a new face while bringing back a familiar one -- The Broncos made their first out-of-house free-agent agreement in the form of receiver Keary Colbert. The Carolina receiver agreed to terms on a three-year contract Saturday. Colbert, 25, had 32 catches last season. His best season was in 2004, his rookie season when he was a second-round pick form USC. He had 47 catches that season. Colbert will compete with Brandon Stokley for the No. 2 starting job opposite blooming star Brandon Marshall. The Broncos have an opening in wake of the release of Javon Walker on Friday. I think Eck will provide decent depth at DE after his injury in '07.  The article incorrectly states that Colbert will compete with Stokely for the #2 WR position.  Stokely is not an every down WR, and will remain at slot according to Shanahan, who regretted having to expose Stokely in '07 to more downs than Stokely is built for.
Broncos Make a Signing - WR Keary Colbert
2008-03-02 06:12:00
The Denver Broncos have made their first splash in the free agent market, and they’re staying consistent with their draft-first, conservative mentality. Former Carolina Panther wide receiver Keary Colbert isn’t a headliner or a Pro Bowler, but he’s a solid, young acquisition with upside who could blossom into the #2 the Broncos are looking for. ...
WR Kerry Colbert, S Sammy Knight; First Official Visitors To Dove Valley
2008-03-01 04:23:00
The DP is reporting that the Broncos welcomed their first two visitors of the Free Agency period when the team hosted former Carolina Panthers WR Kerry Colbert, as well as former Jaguars safety Sammy Knight -- Colbert had 32 catches for Carolina last season. The USC product's best season was his rookie year in 2004 when he had 47 catches. With Javon Walker released, Denver is looking for a No. 2 receiver. Brandon Stokley will be the No. 3 receiver. The Broncos could use their No. 12 on a receiver such as Cal's DeSean Jackson. Knight, 32, had 93 tackles and four interceptions for Jacksonville last year. Denver is looking starting safeties and he'd fit in. The Broncos have a need for safeties with John Lynch potentially on his way out of town, with free agent Nick Ferguson likely not returning and with restricted fee agent Hamza Abdullah potentially getting interest elsewhere. While I agree there is a need for a wideout, there is no way the Broncos pick DeSean Jackson at #12.

Stephen Colbert Discusses William F. Buckley With Richard Brookhiser

Love that Stephen Colbert. On today's Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Stephen Colbert reminisced about William F. I wasn't a Buckley fan, but Colbert's conversation with Richard Brookhiser, Senior Editor of The National Review, was humorous and entertaining.
