That made me very happy. And we saw Kibu from flyball. Chase was excited to see her and wouldn’t leave the poor girl alone! I hope Chase’s feet weren’t hurting him, and his coat is so thin now.. Collies and Border Collies are so Different!
2007-12-11 04:38:00 We have four smooth collies in our house and one border collie. And man, are they different. Chase, the border collie, has taught me so much about drive shaping and high drive dogs. And I hope to use that to help train Tatum as we move through the training process. I went to obedience training this morning and I’m really having fun and learning a lot about obedience. Lucy has her ASCA-CD but that is the only obedience we have done. Oh we have done rally, Levi has his RE and Lucy has her RA but I think we rather squeaked by on those. Chase is really coming along on his obedience. I am going to start doing box work with him. Sits, downs, stands in the box and from a distance. We need to work his ‘go outs’ so he’ll spin and sit. It’s too much like flyball for him to run across the ring, grab the treat, then come back. He sure is fast though and he loves it! He is not even in Novice yet but we are working all levels with him, open and utility too. Tatum d...

Arranging Transport for Collies
2007-08-25 00:05:00 Okay so… looks like we are planning to get three collies from Houston, Texas, on September 1st. They are going to be flown into Aspen, Colorado. So I just need to find out how to get them from there, to here. Of course September 1st is the day I leave to dog camp! Ugh! But… the collie rescue network is awesome, and the rescue network in general. I have one good option now, a sheltie rescue in Grand Junction, Colorado can pick the dogs up from Aspen and hold them in Grand Junction if needed until I can get to them. I’m trying to arrange transport for them all the way to Salt Lake and get into some temporary homes until I get back. I have one temporary home for sure for a week, a potential foster home, and then I can probably have the other boarded if I need to until I come back. If I can’t get transportation from Grand Junction, then after I get home on the 8th of September from camp, I’ll be taking off on the 9th of September to Grand Junction to ge...

She has a gorgeous sable and white rough collie named Maudie she does obedience with, and she is planning on having Maudie be a therapy dog, too. Collies are great therapy dogs. They are friendly, mellow, loving and sweet, and gorgeous too. And the rough sables look so much like Lassie that they bring a smile to anyone’s face. When I took Sonny for a walk last night I got two ‘Lassie’ comments about him, from people I’ve never talked to before, and we only went for 20 minutes! Anyway, check out The 4th Dog for some great collie info.
