The Colorblind Series - Nature #1
2008-04-16 01:56:00 The colorblind series is part of my initiative to get back to basics with only using primary and secondary colors. I decided to go with markers for this project because of their vibrancy (despite looking slightly childish). Prismacolor Art Markers to be precise. I am really enjoying these by the way. No, No, The Obamessiah Campaign Is Truly Colorblind
2008-03-04 22:47:00 Or, is it? There is a new website out there, as heard on CNN, called ColorOfChange, changing the color of democracy. We are asking 250,000 people — African-Americans and concerned allies of any race — to make a commitment. Can you imagine if the words “white-Americans” replaced African-Americans? Every white person associated would be branded a racist. As ...

Eizo Announces 24-inch LCD for Colorblind Users
2007-11-27 13:26:00 For most computer users who spend many hours working on a computer each day, a large screen LCD display is very welcome. However, for some users -- particularly those who are colorblind -- working on a computer can be very difficult.According to the Color Universal Design Organization in the U.S. and Europe one of every 10 to 12 males have color vision different from ordinary people and one of every 200 females does as well. Globally over 200 million people are believed to be colorblind. For colorblind people the colors that they have the most difficulty recognizing are red, green and yellow along with other hues that are similar. The inability to distinguish between certain colors for colorblind users can make a typical large 30-inch display like the Gateway XHD3000 uncomfortable to use. Gizmodo is reporting that Eizo has a new 24-inch LCD display called the FlexScan SX2461W-U that is aimed directly at users who are colorblind. The SX2461W-U uses Color Universal Design technology tha...

It chews the same CUD (Color Universal Design) technology of their 19-incher which uses shapes, positions, patterns, and so on to communicate color information back to the user. The monitor itself is capable of 92% color reproduction on a 1,920 x 1200 panel with 850:1 contrast and 300cd/m2 brightness. It will source input from a pair of HDCP-enabled DVI jacks while passing USB back to your PC with a pair of USB 2.0 ports. Available in Japan starting December 6 for ¥136,000 or about $1,047 of the green stuff, or blue stuff, depending.[Via Akihabara News]

On Being Colorblind
2007-05-26 23:47:00 I often wonder I'm missing. It sucks to be colorblind. I see pink, purple, and orange. Is that right? So last night was the final night of the Taste of the Mariana Islands. I went with EJ. It was weird to think that last year I went with Emily, Jeremy, and Qamar and that they all live off island now. Hmmm...I was also their to accept a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of Beautify CNMI.The certificate reads:In recognition of its valuable contributions toward the Garapan Tourism Belt Transformation Project & beautification programs and support of the CNMI's travel industry. Thanks, MVA!...and then here are a few photos with friends:

Never Truly Colorblind
2006-12-16 16:11:01 FOR SOME REASON it is most common to refer to blacks and whites when talking about race. Certainly many groups are left out of the race conversation when we think about these two races. I have been thinking about whether America will ever become colorblind. The answer in short is no. And, maybe in fact it shouldn’t be colorblind. There are many ways that we’re reminded of the existence of racial differences in our culture. Every year February is Black History Month. Is it reasonable to celebrate the accomplishments of one race for one month? And, if we do remember African-American contributions to America, are we doing this to the exclusion of other races? Should it be pointed out that a business is black-owned? What does that mean? I know what it technically means, but what is someone trying to say by pointing out the owner’s race? Would this label still be used if just as many blacks owned businesses as whites? Is race something to be proud of, kind of like someo...
