Congress Approves National Colosseum
2008-05-14 06:24:00
Not really. But Capitol Hill politicians might as well allocate funds to build one, complete with chariot races and gladiators to keep us happy, considering the way they?re pandering to the masses these days. When Congress only has a 20% approval rating (Gallup), what else would you expect? Something like what happened ...
Magnificent... History...?
2008-04-24 23:13:00
I have a feature on my computer that let's me see what the National Geographic photograph of the day is. Today the photograph really spoke to me. I wanted to share it:The caption at the bottom of the picture from National Geographic states: "Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Colosseum was built to host gladiator duels, battle reenactments, and other public spectacles. Now, the 50,000-seat stone-and-concrete amphitheater serves Rome in another capacity: as a traffic circle."I am currently in college to teach History at the Secondary Education level. This really gets me thinking about how far we have come as a society, and how far we will go. How far God will be taking us.What do you think?var sb_k="Walk+for+the+Lord";var sb_u="http://walkforthelord.blo-gspot.com";var sb_baseURL="https://www.registe-reverywhere.com/b/";var sb_d="socialBookmarks";var sb_p="";var sb_b="socialBookmarksButton"; [X] Social Bookmarks sb_addListeners(sb_p);
Reality TV As The Roman Colosseum
2008-03-26 23:33:00
I’m not sure who I first heard make the analogy that reality TV was the modern day equivalent of the Roman colosseum, but truer words have never been said. As I’ve mentioned before, I watch Big Brother (BB). I’ve been a fan since season 1, but I have seen it sliding deeper and deeper into ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Reality TV As The Roman Colosseum", url: "http://www.seanpaune.com/2008/-03/26/big-brother-9-violence/"- });
Colosseum - Tomorrow Blues [2003]
2008-03-14 14:24:00
Colosseum is a British jazz fusion band considered also to be part of early progressive rock. The band was formed in 1968 by founding members drummer Jon Hiseman, tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith and bass player Tony Reeves. All three had previously played together in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Dave Greenslade, (organ), was immediately recruited, and the line-up was completed by Jim Roche

Roman Colosseum.'Colosseum' the Roman amphitheatre is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture & engineering, & is located on the marshy land between the Esquiline & Caelian Hills. Construction for this is stated to be started between 70 & 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian & was completed in 80 AD under Titus, with further modifications being made during Domitian's reign. Originally capable of seating 50,000 spectators, it had approximately eighty entrances that helped in easy movement of crowd, as they could arrive & leave easily & quickly. It was used for gladiatorial contests & public spectacles. The Colosseum remained in use for nearly 500 years & what we see today are the remains of the greatest amphitheatre of the antiquity.(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image credit: Beatrome).(Image: Credit).(Image credit: English.cri).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image: Credit).(Image credit: Wiki).Other Posts:V...
Rickson Gracie Vs Masakatsu Funaki (Colosseum 2000)
2008-03-01 18:12:00
I stumbled on this classic Rickson Gracie fight, and decided that it was worth posting. Not because it was an awesome fight, or because "Rickson is the best ever." No, because I wanted to point out how much the game has changed since then. This was one of the biggest selling fightcards ever, with more than 40 million viewers between Japan and Brazil- it was Rickson, well, the most dominant Gracie family member, and Funaki, the founder of Pancrase.Rickson Gracie vs Masakatsu Funakiby Evilmaster(Alternate Link)Honestly, up until about the 17:00 mark, it's nothing but clinching in a corner. (That's right, until the 17 minute mark [First 9 minutes are introductions]) But come on now- this is exactly why learning how to wrestle/throw people is so freaking important.Rickson had double underhooks, and yet, he couldn't take Funaki down. No, it's not because Funaki is some kind of anti-takedown god. It's just that Rickson couldn't capitalize on the openings, and didn't actively try to...

Panorama Colosseum
2007-04-05 04:42:00
More panorama photos to share.. Manage to stitch 35 panoramas from the Colosseum photos.. only 9 stitched photos are posted here.. its quite easy to stitch but the colour variation of the photos were different.. I think this was much due to the different exposure due to the different directions of the sunlight of the photos in each panoramas.. If you understand this, maybe you can answer my question on how improve it? Tripod, different exposure time for different angle? OR photo editing prior to stitchings?!Okay, these are the photos.. gimme comments either you like or dislike it.. click on the photo itself for a larger view of the photo..Interior view of the Colosseum with outer wall intact..Facade of Colosseum with the original outer wall intact..Colosseum arena..The hypogeum - underground cells for animals and gladiators..View of the arena from the second accessible floor.. there might be more floors to go but we were only allowed to access 2 floors.. Maybe you know the way to go...
Italy trip - Colosseum Part2
2007-04-03 05:37:00
18 Dec 2006 - Roma: Colosseum Part2The inner wall and the outer wall of the Colosseum.. Most of the outer wall was gone.. Only part of it left that showed in the previous post, the original facade of the building.. Only the inner wall enclosed the whole Colosseum.. the outer wall was only partially intact.. This were where we get into the interior of the building - the entrance thru the space in between the two walls..it was much devastated..The Colosseum arena showing the hypogeum (underground) where the gladiators and animals were held before the contest began.. largest cells were also present for the caging of larger animals such as elephant.. The original arena was a wooden floor covered with sand (not present now) which was layered on top of the hypogeum.. There were tunnels to lead the caged animals and gladiators to a nearby elevator where a pulley was used to raise them up to the arena on top... amazing huh?! Moreover, there were writings showed that the Colosseum was used i...
Italy trip - Colosseum Part1
2007-03-31 07:27:00
18 Dec 2007 - Roma: Colosseum part1Okay.. here's a post on the famous Colosseum (Colosseo in Italian). It's a giant amphitheatre which capable of accomodating 40,000 ~ 50,000!! imagine the size of Celtic park built in Roman empire era?! It is famous for its gladiatorial fights during that ancient period.. Its situated on the east of Roman Forum.. Will be posting more on Roman Forum after finishing the Colosseum posts okay?!The original facade of the Colosseum.. Much of the building were damage by earthquake and 'stone' thieves.. It was quite a pity look for such an ancient building to be damaged until this stage.. but still it maintain its size and remain as the most prominent and most tourists visited building in Rome!Another facade view of the Colosseum.. with a Christmas tree..me..It might be interesting to take photos with these "Gladiator" or "Roman soldier".. BUT don't be fooled by them! You would be ask for payment after you 'happily' taken a photo with them.. & y...
Preview: Colosseum

Just a 'wee' post before sleeping.. was just too tired to do any more update.. Was working in Hampden Park for Scotland vs Georgia euro qualifying.. some of the sign in staffs were just so annoying.. seems like bullying us as foreigners ya?! All the time they tot we came from China and assuming that we doesn't speak or understand their outstanding language.. which i felt it was another sort of discrimination.. although we was not being treated as bad as some Africans, but there's still some inequalities.. really felt pity for them! Well, this might be the sake of working in a foreign country? btw, Scotland won by 2-1.. Congrats! will be updating on colosseum next.. stay tuned.. Gute Nacht~
