Comme des Garcons + Stephen Jones ~ new fragrance
2008-06-06 16:13:00 Comme des Garçons will follow this year's collaborative fragrance with Monocle with a new fragrance created in conjunction with British milliner Stephen Jones. According to Italian Vogue, Jones is "the maker of the most beautiful hats in the world". Stephen Jones has described the new fragrance as "futuristic but rococo" and "a violet that's been hit by a meteorite". It was developed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu (who also created the Monocle scent and Luxe Patchouli for Comme des Garçons), and includes notes of violet, violet leaf, 'synthesized cyber aldehyde', clove, carnation, rose, jasmine, heliotrope, gaiac wood, magma, black cumin, vetiver and amber. Comme des Garçons + Stephen Jones will be available in 55 ml Eau de Toilette, and is due to launch in September. Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès and countless others ? Comme des Garçons hides their status in a rather utilitarian-looking shop with no mention of their name at all. You could walk past Dover Street Market and assume it?s a charity shop (which is what thrift stores are called in the UK). 2008-04-20 05:53:00 Comme des Garçons has launched Series 8: Energy C, comprising three new fragrances with a "vitamin rush based on citrus fruit" to "wake up, feel positive, be positive". Energy C Lemon features notes of bergamot, citron, lemon, cardamom, angelica, incense, musk and vetiver. Energy C Lime has lime, bergamot, green lemon, water jasmine, tea rose, lily, musk, cedar and white amber. Energy C Grapefruit includes notes of blackcurrant buds, pink grapefruit, petit grain, jasmine, neroli, yellow madarin, tree moss and iris. We most of us have our favorite perfume brands, and we get excited when they launch something new (and, of course, we are disappointed if the something new turns out to be dull and unexciting). It is nice to be surprised once in awhile, but then, life is just easier and simpler when Burberry's The Beat turns out to be appropriately Burberry-ish, and so on and so forth. It might be interesting if you picked up Ralph Wild and found a weird little milky wood pudding with incense and Costume National 21 turned out to be a strawberry soda, but it certainly wouldn't help you navigate the overcrowded fragrance market, would it? 2007-11-30 22:09:00 Comme des Garçons will launch 888, a new scent designed to capture the fragrance of gold, next March: ?We started with the concept that we wanted to find if gold has an odour and we looked for an olfactive expression. I looked at a number of different materials and decided very quickly on Safraline because of its very specific character.? Safraline is a molecular derivative of saffron created by Swiss perfume house Givaudan (see Cosmetics International 6 July), whose perfumer Antoine Lie created 888. (via cosmeticsinternational) Additional notes include pepperwood, curcuma, coriander, geranium and amber. 888 is packaged in the Comme des Garçons pebble bottle redone in a gold finish. The perfume will be available for the next week or so at a temporary location in London's Burlington Arcade (somebody run over and get me a bottle, ok?); then launches worldwide in March. Tom Ford Private Blend, MDCI, Yu by Mane, Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia, By Kilian, Guerlain Quand Vient La Pluie, Thierry Mugler Angel La Part des Anges (and the upcoming Thierry Mugler Miroir Miroir). 2007-10-06 21:04:00 Comme des Garçons has introduced the Luxe series, consisting of two fragrances, Champaca and Patchouli, debuting under the tag line "the true sign of luxury is rarity and quality". Champaca is based on the "mythical flower of India", also known as the "Joy perfume tree", and includes notes of champaca, white pepper, angelica, bird pepper, cardamom, tuberose, white musk and iris. Patchouli (shown) uses Sumatran patchouli "of the best quality in existence". The notes include white pepper, fenugreek, lovage, patchouli, oak, oppoponax, cedar, vanilla, vetiver and sandalwood.
