Possibly Today?s Greatest Television Commercials
2008-05-26 13:18:00 In Critique of Commodity Aesthetics, Wolfgang Fritz Haug, German professor and chief editor of Das Argument, stated a principle: The aestheticization of commodities means that they tend to dissolve into enjoyable experiences, or into the appearance of these experiences, detached from the commodity itself. Decades after, in the material culture wherefore the vastly commodified fragments of human life, today’s ...

2008-04-28 05:20:00 This is one of the best commentaries I have seen online in a long time. I am a black woman with a French name. When I would say my name and talk to people they would later remark that I didn't "sound" black. That always got on my nerves. Obviously they equate black to stupid. My name has opened doors for interviews until the interviewer realized that they had called a black woman. There is much to be said in name...

The Story of Burning Man
2008-04-19 21:30:00 Before we begin, we must warn our audience that the content of this following article may not be suitable for the general public, in general. Whatever. You have been warned. — When looking on how modernity evolves in Indonesia’s urban societies, most locals would refer the late-night lifestyle in downtow-n Jakarta as a vivid projection of hedonism in the modern age. That may not be entirely true, especially when compared to the rave subculture abroad, ...

Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or do we participate in a politics of hope?”. If anything, the present and forthcoming situation in Indonesia’s new media environment ...
Ogilvy & Mather Office Makeover
2008-03-25 19:05:00 Just in late 2007, mas Dharma from Ogilvy offered me to apply as part of Ogilvy & Mather Jakarta’s creative team, that is, after realizing how passive-repulsively self promotional I am. I reasonably declined the offer since I’ve set my eyes fixed on a certain media company; and yet now, I am filled with guilt and remorse for passing up the chance. ...
What is Darfur!?
2008-03-03 08:33:00 Believe it or not, most of us here in Jakarta are still asking what Darfur really is, what happens there, or how it can affect us here in Southeast Asia. The term is everywhere on international websites, blogs, social networking sites, even the Facebook’s FunWall skin might’ve subtly brought our mind to the cause: “Save Darfur”. Okay, Obama, we ...
RiffTrax: Hilarious Commentaries For Movies
2008-03-01 05:01:00 I miss Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K)...I used to watch it with Joel Hodgson and the old actors voicing Tom Servo and Crow, back in 1992 when I was only 16. It was on Comedy Central, I believe. Fast forward to 1998, and my best friend and I were having even more fun watching the new cast, played by Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett (new Crow voice) and Kevin Murphy (still doing Tom Servo). However, when Sci Fi Channel, which took over producing and airing the show, cancelled it in late 1998, my best friend and I were seriously bummed out.Well, they're back, only it's the actors, and guest stars like "Weird Al" Yankovic, doing their own (non-MST3K) hilarious commentaries for movies that have been coming out recently, and in the past few years. It's called RiffTrax, and it looks cool. You download it and sync it up (Mike helps you out) and have fun watching your favorite great (or bad) film, while the guys make fun of it. It only costs $3.99!They a...

WEEKEND FOOTBALL COMMENTARIES
2007-04-23 08:06:00 A friend asks me what exactly do I mean by boogey? I guess what I wanted to say was bogey, sorry about that.I learn the term from bogey-man, a kind of urban legend, which means that whatever the legend is, it's not necessarily true but the impression is there. The application of the word in my writing was to impose that Man U has often faced difficulties facing Boro (same case with Newcastle to Chelsea) and there's something inexplicable (unknown) in this sense which in short like the bogey-man in the urban legend.I know this has nothing to do with football, but please bear with me to explore a bit on this bogey (night/team) theory.I will give you an analogy and it goes like this. Not far from where I lived, there's this old bridge that goes all the way back to the colonial times (somewhere in the 18th century I guess). Legend has it that the spirit of a young woman haunts the bridge for she was murdered there. And according to the same legend, if you are passing by that road whe...

I was not on the PC at that time so no take profit at that level. I just take what the market gave me and leave, no greed. The usdchf is traded against the trend, I wasn't confident enough, so I cut the trade off, giving some free risk room to my another hot trade, gbpchf. Gbp slides hard last two week, by opening the gbpusd & gbpchf this should diversify my gbp trade. I closed both of them because I saw the bull is starting to take control, a retracement maybe, so I thought I would better just leave the market. I'll look at them again later.Currently floating trades:Open TimeTypeItem PriceS / LT / P 2007.03.12selleurjpy155.01156.2-00.00 2... |
