Did the EU commission really issue that statement !?
2011-12-27 14:46:00
First of all we all know that some bad , some illegal gases were used against the peaceful protesters at Mohamed Mahmoud street without doubt based on the testimonies of protesters and doctors in those 48 hours then and based on that videos showing the side effects of these gases. Today Tahrir newspaper published a report spread online as report issued by the European commission to prove that the army committed war crimes against the protesters in Egypt , that report appeared at first in Mujaz.me news website and you can imagine the buzz it caused. The report in Mujaz was first published by journalist Mohamed Abdel Khalek in Rosa Al Youssef Daily newspaper. It was also published in Al Fagr newspaper website.  First thing we can?t find any reference for this report internationally or in the European commission website. I tried to find it in English but failed so far. Most of reports speak and spoke that the security forces used CR gas then yet that report boldly claims that t...

Human Rights Commission Probe Fronts Andhra Government On Sathya Sai Baba T
2011-04-19 00:31:00
In the last hours, many Indian newspapers have run the story on the direction by the Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission to the State government to produce a report on Sathya Sai Baba's health condition. None too early in the piece, Sathya Sai Baba devotees themselves are now, at least via their lawyers, demanding answers concerning the workings of the Sathya Sai Central Trust. Readers of this blog, and that of Robert Priddy and of related websites, have long been presented with evidence of grievous lack of accountability in the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, and, at large, the international Sri Sathya Sai Organization. There are trust issues indeed. Since circa 2000, when the internet began to allow the rapid universal spread of information and communication, constant execration and libel have been heaped on the efforts of former Sathya Sai Baba followers to present a critique of the corrupt workings of the Sathya Sai apparatus. It is one of history's odd ironies that Sai de...
Ralph M. Hall statement National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil
2011-01-12 23:48:00
Washington, DC ? January 12, 2011 - Rep. Ralph M. Hall (R-TX), Chairman of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, today released the following statement regarding a report released yesterday by the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling:?I would like to thank the members of the President?s National Commission on the BP Oil Spill, and I look forward to evaluating their recommendations. Not surprisingly, the report goes beyond addressing the root causes of the accident and offers commentary on offshore drilling as a whole, a concern that this Committee raised when the Commission was chartered.?While government and industry should both continue to improve their management of drilling practices, and there is certainly a need for diligence on the part of federal regulators tasked with oversight of these activities, it is imperative that we do not recklessly handicap our energy sector. Congress needs time to fully study this report, as...

2011-01-12 14:19:00
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI), chairman of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, issued the following statement today after the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling released its final report: National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling final report FULL TEXT in PDF FORMAT?With rising energy prices and growing global demand, the last thing America can afford is to lock away our own resources and increase our dependence on foreign sources of energy. Our goal must be an ?all of the above? strategy that safely and responsibly develops American-made energy.?The Commission?s report is one of several investigations into the Deepwater Horizon spill, and its findings will be among those considered as we work to prevent this type of disaster from ever being repeated. That?s why it is disappointing that, even after completing its final report, the commission has left unanswered the fundament...

European Commission Opens Antitrust Investigation Against Google
2010-12-02 07:50:00
Google has again landed in trouble in Europe. The European commission has decided to open an antitrust investigation into allegations that the search major has abused its dominance of online search engine. The investigators will also investigate the suspected regulations that Google’s business practices stifle competition by preventing other websites in its advertising network to feature commercial messages from its competitors. The investigation is the result of allegation made by the companies- Foundem, a British price comparison site and Ciao, another price comparison site owned by Microsoft. These companies alleged Google of preferential placement of its own vertical search services, higher on the sponsored search results that companies have to pay for. Interestingly, earlier this month Benjamin Edelman, an assistant professor at Harvard Business School published some data to show hard-Coding Bias in Google “Algorithmic” Search Results. He used his “comma...

The biggest problem with commission payments is that they’re dependent on transactions taking place. That’s fine during good economic times. The article discusses things like establishing a brand, creating a memorable profile, how to approach the market, how to go about sealing the deal and how to protect your intellectual property rights (copyright). I hope that it’s the kind of article that will serve as a good introduction to these topics and which will give aspiring photographers plenty to think about as they begin to think about approaching potential markets for their work. You’ll need to buy a copy of the magazine to read the article in full but here’s a couple of quotes to whet your appetite. Right now, a media furore is erupting in India, which relates to the "leaked" details of the the Judge Liberhan Commission report, a 17-year inquiry into the 1992 Ayodhya Mosque demolition. A number of the figures very seriously named are long-time close associates of Sathya Sai Baba and his core servitors. The report names the former Prime Minister Vajpayee, his Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani (not a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba) and former high-powered government minister Murli Manohar Joshi as instrumental figures in orchestrating the demolition and hiding their roles in this extremely painful episode in modern Indian history. The disgraced former Home Minister, Ashok Singhal, who along with Vajpayee and Joshi is an old adherant of Sathya Sai Baba, is also named.

There was controversy regarding - (i) applicability of service tax under ?Business Auxiliary service? on commission paid to Managing Director / Directors (whole time, or Independent) by the company, (ii) applicability of service tax on Independent Directors who are part of the Board of Directors under ?Management Consultant service?. CBEC now issued circular to clarify that there is no service tax liability in case of payments of remuneration to directors of companies whether whole time or part time. Read the excerpts below: Circular No. 115/09/2009- ST, dated 31-7-2009 2. Both the matters have been examined by the Board and the clarifications are as under, - (i) Some Companies make payments to Managing Director/Directors (Whole-time or Independent) , terming the same as ?Commissions?. The Joint Commission Experience
2009-06-28 20:19:00
Some people have asked me what I did last week and what this "Joint Commission" thing is. Especially if you see patients in the hospital on a daily basis, hearing the words "The Joint Commission" (TJC) should make you a little tense. For lack of a better term, TJC is a regulatory agency who inspects hospitals every three years or so to review hospital policies and procedures to maximize patient safety. Unfortunately, what is covered in the news a lot are patients sometimes accidentally harmed when they come to the hospital. How can this happen you ask? Most times, it is the breakdown of processes that occur in the hospital - in addition to human error.Anyway, TJC comes to hospital unannounced to conduct their survey. So, for the past year or so, the hospital has been preparing (by reviewing and updating policies and procedures) and wondering when TJC was going to stop by. It happened last week.Being the Chief of Staff for the docs of my hospital, I'm one of the people that the TJC r...

Kangaroo, a British rival to the U.S. Hulu, is facing evolution or death after the Competition Commission refused to accept it in its current form. Kangaroo Lives Back in November 2007, the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, four broadcasters in the UK, announced plans for a joint online video on demand venture. Kangaroo was meant to be an online version of Freeview offering over 10,000 of original programming. The BBC already has the hugely popular iPlayer, ITV has the newly rename ITV Player, and Channel 4 has 4oD. Kangaroo would see all three services combined under one umbrella, while all would still also operate independently. 90% of the programming will be free, paid for by advertising.
